I just bought 2 Skar SVR 10D4 subs in Skars custom side ported enclosure, running off a Skar SKV2 1500.1 in the trunk of my 2005 Chevy Cobalt LS. It is the 1st system I've ever had in 25 years that's sounded better lower and louder with the subs facing forward. I'm assuming the big side port has alot to do with that? I like it because I can actually see the subs doing work. It's nice to have a different type of setup after many rear facing setups. Alot of my builds were sealed or rear facing ports because I grew up in the late 90s and that was the norm. Equipment is so much better today than it was then, it's really amazing to see how far car audio has come in just 25 years. Cheers to the younger generation of bassheads.
I put mine back, forward, side to side, and by ear, the winner stands out by a large margin. Subs up port up

In sedans is diferent, Iam sayin because in my sedan absolutly no bass faceing front, onluly back side and up

I have 2 DB Drive WDX G2 8" on a 2k WDX G2 Mono. facing forward in a mazda 3 2010. With back seats folded down it sounds awesome. 30hz comfortably. It's enough for me. Not looking to win competitions lol 😆

Them subs are really movin you look close they be wrinklen and woe at the end look like the surround is touching or almost touching the port but man it kicks ass on the Lowe’s he’s a slapping real good he’s really doing something with just the two 12s I like that color on the car man it’s definitely different and he sound good but it dint look like it was real hard on the car that’s a plus
I still say facing back. Its louder by EAR maybe not by a meter but it's a huge difference
In a trunk subs are usually always going to be louder facing Forwards when you seal the box off from the trunk! At first My sundown NSv5 15 was way louder facing the trunk compared to facing forward until I build my new ported enclosure that I sealed off the with them facing forwards Then it was louder then facing the trunk!

Does everyone here own a termlab? Has anyone here spent years testing setups in trunk cars with that termlab? Gone to a world finals event with the car? I’m telling you from experience and data. Not from opinion.

I think it's not good for his subs to have those crinkles in the surround when playing lows . I'm pretty sure that means either your box is too big or your port or you are overpowering the subs .

Why don't people change the inside speakers and put an amp on them as well? The bass drowns out the vocals!
Because ppl are stupid I just built my system and everything got done I want sql I wanna hear the music as well get some killer bass! I got focal 3 way upfront ran active and focal components in the rear ran passive and then two 12" sundown v.3 d2 running at .5 ohm on a salt 3k and it pounds but it also sounds amazing. Never understood why ppl don't do everything when they can have the best of both worlds :)

Sound waves lose energy when bouncing off objects. Facing them forward also has less distance to travel.

Every car and cabin is different…. It’s really hard to get a trunk build loud…me personally I don’t like my subs facing the cabin, some cars are louder with these setups but you can get some same results and output with your subs facing the trunk with the right box and solid trunk work…. I know ppl doing 148-150 db with subs facing the trunk…..
