    I like my bass to sound like bass no trunk rattles. Facing the sub towards the cabin and with a back seats or seat down lets the subs breathe and lets the air travel more. The Florida guys make holes in their back seats to let the bass breathe. It dont matter if you have 15s or 18s if the trunk aint have a place to let the sub unload the air all you going to get outside is rattling trunk ,, to my ears that aint it. • @JSHoward187
      @JSHoward187 3 роки тому +9

      This is really a simple concept. If you want sound quality then face them forward. However you must seal the trunk off from the cabin in order to get forward facing subs to sound good. This also eliminates 90% of trunk rattle allowing you to dampen the other 10%. The other way is to face them backward an yes loading the bass wave off of a surface (Back of the trunk) will extend the bass wave but you also have to worry about cancellation due to out of phase bass waves. Also when facing the subs backwards it will be almost impossible to eliminate all the trunk rattle so when you pull up at a stop light all people are going to hear is a rattle trap. Having been in this hobby for 30 years now I can say this. Outside of people who do SPL competitions with a vehicle devoted to just that most people who go ported and facing back are just trying to annoy people and they don't care what the system sounds like as long as at the end of the day some one can hear them bumping from a quarter mile away. I am sure some people will disagree and that is fine but I am just noting my observations over the last 30 years. I mean if you look at a ported setup alone you know this because anything below the tuning of the box is gone due to roll off. The best setup in my opinion is front facing (Trunk sealed, this is important) and in a sealed enclosure so you hear every frequency that is played.

      @Meech Jones The classic way is to have speaker & port facing trunk (taillights). But for my needs. I needed trunk space & didn't wanted my sub being damage by having things in the trunk. I always belive the port facing rear would work best since I can drop my seats for having more bass flowing in & for SUV's port facing driver or up since its all open from the back. Best to check others with the same car & you & check their system out. See what works best for you.
