- This 1996 Mercedes-Benz W210 E60 AMG is very unique in that the original owner was Domingos Piedade who was known as a AMG boss in Formula 1. This car has some very unique options which are not commonly found on other w210 models. Some of these include extended use of leather in the interior, extra pieces of birdseye maple wood trim, R129 BBS 2 piece wheels, Designo Diamond Black Metallic special paint, and the AMG modified M119 V8 engine. The E60 is a uncommon model of the W210, the more common being the E50 and E55 AMG. E60's would start as E50's that would be fitted with the 6L M119. The later E55 used the 5.4L M113. I go over all the interesting things about this car inside and out, show exhaust clips, and some glamour shots.

This is my friend’s former e60/e63, the same individual that brought it into the US. The provenance, triple latch trunk, slick top with Nappa roof liner, and designo schwarz paint are the giveaways along with the motor. It was quite a feat at the time for bringing it over, especially to CA, though it was definitely MB enthusiast owned and way faster than any 210 US e55 at the time. The hp and tq #s floating around are likely the dyno numbers when it ran at the former Dynospot Racing, definitely a torque monster for being all n/a. He eventually sold this rare MB and moved on to a Black Series, but unfortunately and unexpectedly passed away a couple years ago. Thank you for sharing the history, and also great to see the legacy and collection continuing here and at car events.
I did get a chance to meet the former owner in 2017 and see his black series during car week in Monterey.
These are pretty common in Japan Auctions. Very rare in Germany and more rare in USA. I know that there were also lorinser 6.2 V8 M119, and Renntech 6.0 V8 M119, but these are very very hard to find.
It’s likely this is a factory AMG car and the Japanese car where general converted by AMG Japan?

Every AMG (Mercedes AMG) cars were made in Germany and then transported to the whole world. In Japan these are more common than anywhere.
@@W210Garage no, that’s incorrect. Over 90% of the AMG cars in Japan where converted in Japan. It’s worth noting to a collector a Factory car is worth substantial more than a car that was subsequently converted, in Germany or Japan
There is also at least one AMG that was converted in the US

As an owner of '97 W210 E60 AMG Limited Edition (M119) JDM (LHD):
1. There were 300 cars made globally
2. You are spot on the 300km/h cluster, mine says 280km/h
3. 9:37 - the pic is of the exact same Limited Edition W210 E60. Notice the marking on the ashtray
4. 10:01 - whoa that's a cool option
5. 11:10 - Limited Edition E60's come with a wood base shift knob, but with pure gold insert on top (can be seen briefly on 9:37)
6. 12:26 later ones come with E60 designation (and in the case of Limited: "E60 Limited Edition")
7. 12:42 the floor mats on Limited are pieces of art, look them up on google.

I have the E55 AMG '97 and even the E55 is pretty hard to find here in Germany on the streets in the city where i live i'm the only one with my E55.

Do you know what happened to the Barry Taylor collection of old Mercedes?
He was trying to sell it off for a very high price. AMG had interested but he was asking too much. I think he still owns all of it and is still alive but is stuck on his high pricing for all of it.
It's ironic that Mercedes-Benz didn't advertise this enough to compete with BMW's E39 M5 at the time. An E60 AMG would be a very good competitor to the M5
This was mostly a built to order car. The E50 was the primary offering initially and later on the E55 is the car they decided to push out. The E55 was pretty comparable power wise. Only auto though and no LSD like the M5. The M5 was also offered with Alcantara headliner while the E55 had some cheaper looking fabric. This particular was later fitted with an LSD and does totally transform the driving experience.

Beautiful content! At 18:35 you mentioned about the navigation being available on the facelift. I also have a navigation on my pre-facelift but it requires a map CD and I only have a Germany one from 1999 haha. The road guidance would be displayed on the radio screen, not in the instrument cluster as I presume it is for the facelift models. Have you driven an E50? Which do you prefer, the M119 or M113? I'd say the E50 and the E55 almost felt identical, marginal difference in torque. Also some knobs and switches were different and the stereo.
On the facelift models with the comand navigation you can display the the road guidance on the instrument cluster. I have not driven an E50 yet. I really do like the M119 especially in large displacement 6.0L+. However I think the M113 is a much better design and if power and displacement aren’t a concern I would pick the M113.
@@SoCal210 thanks for your input. I think the M113 gets a bit of a bad rap from the M119 fans of being too simple but if it works then I think it's alright.
Yes I see that a lot. They are mad because it’s got less cams and valves. I don’t see why more moving parts are necessary when the M113 still performs and can outperform the M119 and lasts much longer with less maintenance needed.

In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025
on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Car washs will be forbidden too because they are climate killers, now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.!!! (BABVVEN & TEBBVEN & BEFVO laws)

I just heard about the e60 today and I own a w210 e320 with 178,000 miles and still flying and going strong
No sunroof is better it's holds the frame better and is more sturdy then a big whole in the Roof and don't forget about the weight reduction that sunroof is hella heavy
