US cars never came in a manual and the US never got the smaller engines such as the e200 which I had, e230, 240 and e280 which was the biggest engine with a manual trans.
w210’s euro spec also had cloth seats
and the W140 s-class even existed as a 2.8l with a manual trans which even here in germany is really rare. there are so many differences between euro and us spec cars it’s insane

The smallest engine in the w140 to ever exist was the 2.8. Never the 2.4.

@@martinsvensson6884 I meant the 2.8 now I see that I said 2.4l my bad. I even drove the 2.8 w140 for two weeks. Great car and definitely really weird to drive a manual s class but it’s amazing

My first car is a ´98 250 Turbodiesel (150hp) avantgard with a 5 speed manual and has a slightly tinted section on the windshield. also, mine is wierdly equiped, having a interior trunk button, ASR, folding mirrors, xenon headlights, auto climate control unit (here was an extra as you said) but manual seats, no cruise control and cloth seats (but sometime in its life was changed to white-ish beige leather seats and door leather bits) and no alarm. Anyway, love your vids, from portugal.

Veery nice video mister.A couple of things i noticed. The euro cars could be ordered with a two tone front windscreen. My E50 had the front windscreen with the darker area on top. Also the extra security latches on the trunk lid,is a "Diplomat safety" feature. It was pretty common on the cars ordered as diplomat/embassy cars. Also one final thing. All the E50s were based on the Avantgarde versions,so all of them had xenon headlights. And to go with those xenons headlights..because of euro regulations, the car then had to be fitted with auto levelling, and a headlight cleaning system,in form of these washer jets.So if a euro car was fitted with xenons (Avantgarde models, and other models if xenon equipped),had to feature this autolevelling system, and headlight cleaning system :) Greetings from Norway ,Stefan :)

There is one more important option. in the US spec wiper works another way, then in the Euro spec. in the Euro spec wiper changes it speed when the vehicle changes its speed.that’s important. I own one of the US spec 210 for more, than 11 years, and actually can’t change it on my W210 🤷🏻‍♂️

Love your attention to detail! You're clearly a big fan of the E55 AMG. Mine's a European pre-facelift. Mine has the ADS and folding mirrors as well. I don't have the rear seat heating and rear side window shades (I think this was an option as well, correct me if I'm wrong). Which one do you personally prefer, the European version or the US version? Are the European versions of such cars more desirable in the States?

Btw super cool that you found an E60 with the M119 engine, I love those wooden door pulls. The speedo is also showing up to 300 km/h whereas my E55 has up to 280.

    • @SoCal210
      @SoCal210 2 роки тому +1

I forgot to mention the rear seat heaters. The car next to the E60 has the switches. It’s very uncommon. The sun shades I believe were a dealer option I believe meaning they weren’t installed during production.

I personally prefer the euro. I like the non tinted front windshield, wider trunk, the fog lights that stay on with the high beams, and the aspherical mirrors. I have been retrofitting some euro options in my car.

Question. I wanted to get an e55 amg, but all of the ones I seen had about 200k miles if not more so I settled for a 2000 e320 it’s dark turquoise with Java interior what can I implement to get more enjoyment out of it? Or should I wait and grab and e430 ?

@@patrickcazer over here in South Jersey I've seen a handful of facelift w210 e55's popping up on marketplace for a little under $8k.

Look for E 50 there are cheepeest , but same performance , and match rare , there will be more valuable and colecteble, atherwise you can find one in Europe. And if mantines the 200 k mile is nothing for the engine. Hope you find one, blesses.

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned
from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the
Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by
reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated
central gas station per city or county. Now they even want to slow down
all the gas pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From
2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as
exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox
oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no
investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even
created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime. :-(

Wont affect the old cars as the proposals are now. The new ones might be in danger though. I highly doubt they will succeed in this.. governments around the world are becoming increasingly impopular among the people.. and losing power.
