Super Wig Maker Mary Costa had major operatic career singing all over the world, she appeared in movies and on TV, and is still active in motivating young children and teens with speaking engagements. At age 88!! She is also one of the kindest and loveliest people you’d ever have the pleasure of meeting.
Indeed. I'm sad Walt is gone- he really knew how to put true quality into his movies, make real art from what would at face value appear to be a child's film. his characters were better, the music and animation superior, the messages better, etc. to me.
I live in the same city as Maria Costa, and I've managed to talk to her a few times! She used to help with children's hospital by calling rooms and speaking to the kids as Aurora. She's a sweetheart to say the least
Mary Costa sat down next to us at a funeral last night. I felt certain it was her when she chatted with us before the service started but had no doubt when her beautiful voice rang out during the hymns. This is her home town and she is known for being a lovely and gracious person. She certainly proved that last night.
there is something about that era that i really like. Maybe the voice was different? the style? the way they sing? i really dont know and i cant point my finger to it, theres just something about it that i really like....
But I thought Leah was also saying that back then they actually had better voices- not saying that todays pop singers can't sing but nothing spectacular either, and it's also become more about looks than actual talent (partially)
When I was a little girl, all I wanted was to be Princess Aurora :) She's so classy and beautiful. Mary has such a lovely voice...I want to sing just like her.
Out of the 3 Classic Disney Princesses, Aurora was ALWAYS my FAVORITE! Thought she was the most beautiful, had(has) the BEST PRINCE, had(has) the BEST VILLIAN! Also love Mary Costa!
Brandon Hunter also she felt somewhat more grounded and in reality... even if in a fairytale, she wasn't as lofty and starry eyed as Cinderella or Snow White. Those two always seemed to live with their heads in the clouds. Aurora seemed to be a kind and gentile woman with a goal, a want, something she wants to obtain. She wants to find someone to share her life with which is something most can get behind
When I was a little girl, I used to play my record of Disney's Sleeping Beauty soundtrack and thought that Aurora had the most beautiful voice. What a treat to finally put a face to that voice -- and it's just as beautiful a face!
I love this so much! This is why I get upset when people bash on disney and the princesses!! Next time someone says they're unrealistic they should remember they were inspired by REAL and BEAUTIFUL women!
it's not really about that. it's that Disney starts of with a good plot then unfortunately changes I it to be about women finding love instead of becoming independent women who isn't looking for romance. like the little mermaid easily could've become about her losing her mermaid self and becoming permanently a human (instead of losing her voice) then her and her family get into an argument and she stomps off, only to feel bad and sad, so she finds a potion, turns bank into a mermaid and kills Ursula instead of her wanting to become human for a man 😒
@@britneyspearsmy90slove65Not every woman wants to be a a hip.. free woman u speak of. Many of us WANT love romance ,, the fantasy u. Why shoul everything be about feminism now?WHY? Britney Spears my 90s love you really know nothing about disney movies. you are the one making it all about “finding a man”. none of them were searching for true love, the original ones liked the idea of love but they weren’t searching wherever they went, the disney princess movies were also partially supposed to be a love story. what makes an independent woman, hm? to you i’m guessing it means living a lonely life and punching every guy who shows interest in you. fuck off

I loved sleeping beauty, when I was younger and blonder people said I looked just like her and that used to make me really happy :) , I could sing once upon a dream (latinamerican spanish version) 50 times a day! such a beautiful film.
She is such a doll! Not only does she have that stunning voice that always entranced me in my childhood, but she has such an interior beauty that just shines though. I think that's what made Aurora so special to me among the classic Disney princesses (next to my darling Belle, of course).
0.33 oh my god. just look at her. she is Aurora. And noone else could be her. Just wow. Totally in awe...Aurora is my favourite Princess, she was something to me that the others never had...
Sleeping Beauty was my sister's all time favorite Disney movie when she was little. I could see why, great story. My sister and I we both cried at the part when Aurora is adviced by Flora never to see Phillip again. Mary Costa is the only one around, I just love Mary Costa in everything she did, she also dueted with Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby. Even though I heard Princess and the Frog and Tangled bought Disney magic back, nothing can top old school Disney.
There's something about the early 'classic disney' movies that really touches me.
Mina tos mmh-hmm
Mina tos saaame
Haydee yes...
That voice actress should have been a real actress as well, she is GORGEOUS
Super Wig Maker If by real actress, you mean performed in live action film then she was. She also performed on stage.
Super Wig Maker yes...
Super Wig Maker Well, Mary has been in the 1957 film called "The Big Caper"

Mary played the lead role of Johann Strauss's wife in "The Great Waltz" for MGM in the 70s.
Walt Disney knew his stuff, didn't he. Gosh.
Indeed. I'm sad Walt is gone- he really knew how to put true quality into his movies, make real art from what would at face value appear to be a child's film. his characters were better, the music and animation superior, the messages better, etc. to me.
Like Aurora her voice actress was gorgeous

Spencer Vistar yes...
InfernoMutant well except for the Disney renaissance
An actor who looked like the princess... amazing
"He was a... pop singer"
golly i wish pop singers sang like than nowadays!
+Leah B unfortunately, the concept of "pop" changes from era to era, decade to decade. he was popular then... he wouldn't be today. :(
I think that's why *Leah B* was lamenting.
Lol ikr?
But I thought Leah was also saying that back then they actually had better voices- not saying that todays pop singers can't sing but nothing spectacular either, and it's also become more about looks than actual talent (partially)
Right?! Lol
it's amazing how they drew Aurora's twirling and dancing from a live model :D
When I was a little girl, all I wanted was to be Princess Aurora :) She's so classy and beautiful. Mary has such a lovely voice...I want to sing just like her.
0:53 OMG! She's still beautiful!!!
Jane Bluedawn yes...
Aurora is a princess. Inside and out. And all the girls who were a part of making her were perfect. Walt knew that, and he used them perfectly.
Out of the 3 Classic Disney Princesses, Aurora was ALWAYS my FAVORITE! Thought she was the most beautiful, had(has) the BEST PRINCE, had(has) the BEST VILLIAN! Also love Mary Costa!

Thank you! My name is Aurora, so I'm totally biased
When I was a little girl, I used to play my record of Disney's Sleeping Beauty soundtrack and thought that Aurora had the most beautiful voice. What a treat to finally put a face to that voice -- and it's just as beautiful a face!
It seemed the princesses during Disney's time were determined by how warm or relaxing their voices sound. It's interesting to discover.
Beautiful voice for Briar Rose. And Prince Phillip's voice is excellent too.
i love sleeping beauty, the her voice actress, her voice is beautiful!!!!
perfect voice
The rythmic pattern of Mary Costa's speech is something so interesting to hear, and also her voice is so warm.
omg EVEN THE VOICE ACTRESS LOOKS LIKE AURORA!!!!!
끼워라 나의틀니 exactly
Mary Costa and Ilene Woods had the best fairy tale voices!
ruthiehenshallfan99 yep
ruthiehenshallfan99 I really agree
And Adriana Casselotti ( I hope I wrote correctly)

Mary Costa's voice characterization and the skills of the Disney animators helped make Aurora one of Disney's most believable characters.
I loved sleeping beauty, when I was younger and blonder people said I looked just like her and that used to make me really happy :) , I could sing once upon a dream (latinamerican spanish version) 50 times a day! such a beautiful film.
i swear she's my absolute favorite of all the disney princesses i love Aurora
She is such a doll! Not only does she have that stunning voice that always entranced me in my childhood, but she has such an interior beauty that just shines though. I think that's what made Aurora so special to me among the classic Disney princesses (next to my darling Belle, of course).
How could anyone give this a thumbs down? It's awesomely magical!
The pitch and vibrato the singers used in the earlier movies are absolutely classic and stunning 💖
"I want you to paint with your voice" Waltz you are sensational!

My favourite singing voice of all the princesses. She's just so elegant!
I really miss the old disney where they will take so much time and effort to draw all these beautiful, brilliant animation.
Mary costa was the perfect voice for Aurora and oh my God her singing is glorious
Back in da day when the voices for the Disney movies did the lines AND sang #MultiTalented
There have only been 3 who didn't...
I always said it: Walt Disney is a frustred musician who became a cartoonist... All the music and musicians that worked with him were high class.
0.33 oh my god. just look at her. she is Aurora. And noone else could be her. Just wow. Totally in awe...Aurora is my favourite Princess, she was something to me that the others never had...
These were TRULY actors, singers, dancers, models !
Fun Fact: Mary Costa is the only original Disney Princess voice actress who is still alive today.
Amazing I've always loved Princess Aurora and I've always wanted to know who did her voice and how Sleeping Beauty was
Whoah, she looks amazing at her age!
Sleeping Beauty was my sister's all time favorite Disney movie when she was little. I could see why, great story. My sister and I we both cried at the part when Aurora is adviced by Flora never to see Phillip again.
