Aguilera's voice doesn't suit the princess image. She's a mezzo-soprano not a true soprano. Her voice texture is thick to be considered as a princess voice.
I mean they’re just both different, but I agree, I’m a bit disappointed. I love the 2020 version, but if they’re bringing back Mulan, why not with the actual Mulan? I had to read through several comments and watch Christina’s old version to realize she must have only sang on the physical release (OST) or credits or something and that’s why Lea Salonga’s version (cartoon Mulan’s singing voice) is the only version I knew. Edit: Having watched the movie now. I don’t understand why they did all this and didn’t have any of the songs in the movie. All the music was in the credits and the movie only contained like background music. Audio only versions with no singing. I liked the movie, but this was a bit disappointing. Many singers have sang this song and some did it justice but none of them comes close to the way Lea sings this song. Her enunciation is clear and crisp. Absolute perfection.
I grew up watching Disney movies. She is such a biggest inspiration of all times. Her voice is so magical and it gets better in time. She's a lot older now since Princess Jasmine and Mulan, but her voice will never be forgotten. A classic voice..

Darryl Wolfe Well, I don't think I can sing? I may need good vocal training to develop good vocal technique. A voice coach that can help improve my singing voice? But one thing I'm good at is I can dance :). I break dance and had perform in shows both live, tv invitations and more. We have a group here in Cali. Break dance is a good work out for me as well..

Aguilera's voice doesn't suit the princess image. She's a mezzo-soprano not a true soprano. Her voice texture is thick to be considered as a princess voice.

I mean they’re just both different, but I agree, I’m a bit disappointed. I love the 2020 version, but if they’re bringing back Mulan, why not with the actual Mulan? The one that actually sang the song in the movie. She’s really good too so I just don’t get it. Or more so, I do get it (Christina is more mainstream and has more star power), I just don’t like it. I didn’t even know Christina was involved in Mulan when the Disney cartoon movie released. I had to read through several comments and watch Christina’s old version to realize she must have only sang on the physical release (OST) or credits or something and that’s why Lea Salonga’s version (cartoon Mulan’s singing voice) is the only version I knew.
Edit: Having watched the movie now. I don’t understand why they did all this and didn’t have any of the songs in the movie. All the music was in the credits and the movie only contained like background music. Audio only versions with no singing. I liked the movie, but this was a bit disappointing. How could they not make a musical?
