Thank you very much, because even though it's quite simple, it's great how good a result you get, which we saw in the previous video when you adjusted ZV E10 colors to be similar to bmpcc. Nicely done, and a video on how to get it straight from the camera is also a great idea, and if you have time please record that as well.
I have a UA-cam channel, I'm from Brazil, and I was impressed with your channel, the images, the editing, the explanations, they are very good, I'm going to buy the ZV E10, I want to learn how to improve my videos. Congratulations, another subscriber.
Hey there, I'm from the FB group, cool video! I wished I've watched it a week ago, I will be recording a live performance on Saturday and it would have been very very useful. I will definitely try it after I am done with this project!
@@dario-digiovanni it probably doesn't have more noise than standard profile on iso 100, it's just that shadows are more crushed on standard profile and higher on slog3. Make sure to overexpose slog3 enough, and you can always push shadows down without crushing blacks if it's too much noise for you :)
Very useful. Also interested in your straight camera settings. I often run and gun in my channel. Many times at night or mid day which are both tough to nail settings right at races. I do appreciate how simple you made this workflow look. Something even I can do with my very quick editing process
I'm glad you like it, I'll try to do that video just need to know there's enough interest because those videos take some time to make and I have limited amount of free time 🙂
When you make that "straight in camera" video, could you please make a comparison between that footage and slog 3? Your videos are very helpful, thank you, you got my sub!
Thank you! I don't know anything about that luts, I'm not a fan of custom luts from the internet even for bacic conversion, I prefer to do a proper transformation to rec709 as camera designers intended and then I can play with my creative look. I also think it's not worth to pay for those luts when there are free tools that we can be sure are correct :)
Great video. I just bought a ZV-E10 to work as B cam to an A7IV. Can't wait to try out this technique. You could do the video with the other method you found out. We'd appreciate it! Thanks in advance.

I own a ZV-E10 and a sigma 18-50 2.8, i love how you can make super profesional looking stuff with this "cheap" equipment, i would really love to see that tutorial but i would rather watch how you color grade, would love to get a cinematic look out of it. I use FCPX which i think is very limited to color grading but i will definitely move to DaVinci when i have the time. Thanks!
Nice to hear that, grading tutorials are on my list but I need to have more time and get more audience before I make my color grading video series. There is not much sense of doing this if not many people will watch it. I spend my free time on making those youtube videos so I want to make sure I spend it properly on most useful stuff.
Thank you! It’s very refreshing to see someone advocates for using Slog-3 on 8bit camera! I’m gonna try it with my ZV-E10! But before that just couple questions: 1. In Resolve project settings, which settings do you use for Color Science and Timeline Color Space in this workflow? Mine currently are “DaVinci yRGB” and Rec.709 Gamma 2.4, and what are yours? 2. On zv-e10, if I set custom white balance with a decently accurate middle grey card, do I still need to bumb up the green, or it’s only applicable for AWB?
I'm glad to hear that! 1. It depens if I use CST then I use deafault settings like you mentioned, but recently I use more often Davinci Color Menagement, so with that settings instead using CST node I have to choose "input color space/sony..." on sony clips 2. For custom WB you probably don't have to, I didn't test too much how accurate it reads WB from gray card because I use AWB with this camera most of the time or I just set WB manually to my taste.
Plz make the out of camera settings video! Your slog3 is the best I’ve seen on the zve10. I’m going to get it soon so I would love a tutorial on out of camera settings for social media stuff

I want to buy the ZV-E10, can you provide a link with ungraded 4k footage, to practice color grading? Thank you very much for the videos, they are very well detailed and no fuss, great work!
If you you set everything manually then you need to adjust exposure tools or lighting so the image is overexposed by 1.7-2 stops. Exposure compensation works only if you have at least one exposure tool (iso, aperture or shutter) on auto.

I want to shoot a moody background with only one light which creates a beautiful gradient on the wall, and then there's another light on the talking head. would this lead to banding issue? (ofc after I increase the saturation, it'd suck if I buy the camera and it won't be able to capture the bg correctly)
I think it will depend on specific case, it's hard to guess, but I can tell you that If you upload dark gradients on UA-cam then whatever camera you will use it will have banding issues 😅
PP off + DRO + Creative look custom settings will allow you to get a similar picture directly from the camera, with a wide dynamic range, without any difficulties. slog and extended color spaces are not justified on 8 bit cameras.
I have also a video about my straight out of the camera settings, make sure to check it out. But I still prefer to use slog3, it's not hard at all, I would argue that it's easier to use and I get much better results with this PP. Everyone is repeating this 8bit S-log3 myth on UA-cam but if you know what you're doing then it doesn't matter if you shoot with PP on 8bit camera or not.

No problem, I plan to make a whole series of videos about color grading and I already have an idea for a first video but I need to finish some projects first so you have to wait for that for a while 🙂
@@VilkanVisions quick question, read that ITU709 is preferable with 8bit sony camera, but do you prefer sgamut3-cine for any technical reason ? and what is the difference with the non-cine one ?
So you sacrifice dynamic range in camera by setting a high saturation. Then you sacrifice dynamic range in post by underexposing the result. What was the advantage of S-Log?
Dynamic Range is connected mainly with luma not saturation and I don't underexpose it in post because it was overesposed when shooting so I just bring it to normal level. Log curve is squished a lot so it captures much more DR even when you overexpose by 2 stops.
The +20 saturation tip is very helpful!
