Should i go for ZV E10 and then upgrade to FX30 later? Or should i just go all the way to FX30? I used A7m3 previously for work few years back but already sold it. Now im starting all over again 😅
I'm on the lookout for my first mirrorless camera, upgrading from a DSLR. Currently, I'm considering the Sony a6500 or ZV-E10 (any thoughts on using Catalyst Browse with the ZV-E10?). My budget is around 400-650€ for a used or refurbished model. I'd prefer to stick with Sony for the E-mount, but it's not a deal-breaker if I find a better option elsewhere. My usage is roughly 60% video and 40% photography. It's important to me that the camera has good software and mobile support. I also want it to shoot 4K or higher video with IBIS or gyroscope support and preferably in 10 bit. I'm planning to make the purchase around summer, so I'm open to waiting for new releases. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! One last thing: I want to exclude the GH5. I know it's a great camera for the price and can shoot in 10-bit, but the Micro 4/3 sensor and poor autofocus don't suit my type of content, if the GH5 is only option in this price segment, then i might as well just pick it up.
First off I loved the video and I’m really excited to try out slog 3 with my a6600! I do have a question. When I’m shooting in manual mode with the base iso of 500, I noticed that I can’t use exposure compensation unless iso is on auto and I currently don’t have a monitor capable of using false color. Am I suppose to manually over expose the image until it’s somewhere between 0.3 and 1.3 to get the proper exposure?
Sorry! I forgot to mention to put it on shutter priority mode at 1/50 :) that should activate exposure compensation!! Yes, it should be exposed to the right at 0.3 to 1.3. Always aim for higher value if you can do you have room in post and have cleaner shadows. I’d also like so recommend to test test test until you get the hang of it. Hope that helps!
Appreciate you clarifying this! Now what about when you are in bright light but want bokeh? I guess you just use a variable ND filter to make the aperture open wider again?
Hi Victor, thank you for this very helpful video! I was wondering about when you said, "keep the ISO at 500." I understand going up will introduce lots of noise and "grain" to the image, but what about going down, like on a sunny day, going to 200, possibly 125, etc.? Thanks again for this helpful tutorial!
You’re welcome! To expand on the base ISO which is 500 on this camera on slog, it gives you the best possible image in terms of dynamic range and noise. Every camera and picture profile is different! Going down the ISO values is okay but you might see a degrade in performance. Not a whole lot but it matters in post production when you have to fully utilize the dynamic range of a camera. Hope that helps! If you have any other questions feel free to ask 🙌🏽

Yes and no, with SLOG3 on sony APSC cameras, you really want to set it on the base ISO which is 500 to get the best dynamic range and the best image out of it (noise levels are crazy with these cameras once you go above the 500 ISO). The exposure comp is for the aperture only if you set the shoot mode on Shutter Priority Mode and set it to 1/50 (or double your frame rate), then the camera will be expose based on what exposure comp you set it to be. Good for run and gun filming and if you don't want to manually expose. If you shoot fully manual, then you have the exposure comp set to 1.3 already and if you need to set the ISO to auto, it will be automatically be exposing for that set value. Hope that makes sense! As a Disney editor, please stop telling people to shoot log on 8 bit cameras. 10 bit is the minimum requirement for log footage. Just look at 0:54. The shirt is broken up into so many purple blocky pixels. Or 1:16 where the boat colours are pixelated. The only way to use S-log on Sony 8bit cameras is to have the camera do processing internally. Mark10's method ua-cam.com/video/IK9Eg6qiArY/v-deo.html& is better because that way the camera applies saturation, contrast, before the final compression.
I won't stop because it's completely doable. What you're looking at is so miniscule that only "editors" that look into the flaws would see in a big screen. We're not shooting movies or tv shows with a Sony APSC camera. We're shooting home made videos and paid or unpaid online content. You're always at the mercy of a platform's compression too. I've used 8 bit slog footage long before 10 bit was introduced to the a7siii and no paying client of mine has said anything about tiny pixels breaking down. Yes, it's tough and a beginner could easily break it apart but in the right guideline and testing, it's doable for everyone.
I forgot to put into the video to set your shooting mode as SHUTTER PRIORITY! That way you can set the exposure comp :)

why I can't set exposure comp with ISO? I need to set ISO to auto if I would like to set Exposure Comp
Sorry I missed it in the video but you have to change the shooting mode the shutter priority!
@@VictorLaforteza thank you so much
Dumb question can I use this Picture Profile for photos and use the LUT for the same results for pictures on this same camera?
Yes if it's jpeg! It won't be the same result but it's close enough.
@@VictorLaforteza sure thank you!!
why does it say pp10 in example footage but you say to put it in pp8?
pp10 should be the correct one for default HLG settings or it can also be pp8 if you change all the settings into this! my apologies for the confusion
@@VictorLaforteza so if I use the free luts, I use pp8 Slog3 right?
@@srvntallen yes that's correct
How you can adjust Exposure Comp while ISO set to 500 not Auto, my camera disable my Exposure Comp if i set the ISO
Sorry, I forgot to mention in the video to set the shooting mode to Shutter Priority! That way it'll open up exposure comp :)
why i cannot set up my Exposure Camp to +1.3. It shows thhat I need to turm my Iso to automode. Can you help me? Plz
Oh you have to put it on shutter priority mode :)
How do you set the exposure comp without ISO being on auto? My zve won't let me do that unless ISO is set to an auto range.
Sorry! I forgot to mention you have to put it on shutter priority mode (shooting mode) :)
@@VictorLaforteza thank you King. I've been looking for this comment on every channel and nobody talks about it.
Why is this channel only 5k subscribers 🤔 the content is very informative
Haha! Not sure as well but it’s steadily growing :) Glad you found the video helpful!!
@@VictorLaforteza I agree! Your videos are amazing👏🏼

Uuuuiiiiiii mad lov
Hi Victor, when I move the ISO to 500 it doesn’t let me move the exposure compensation. How do I do it?
Sorry! I forgot to mention to put the camera on aperture priority mode! If not you’ll just have to keep an eye on the exposure compensation to keep it at +1.3-+1.7
@@VictorLaforteza thanks man!
Have you considered selling the 1-Click LUT by itself at a lower price or maybe giving that one away for free for a limited time? Would love the 1-Click LUT but don't need the rest of the pack :/
Alright I love your content so much I said screw it and got the full pack! Excited to test this out! Thank you for this!
Thanks brother! 🙏🏽 hope you like it! I’m working on a free update this year as well so you pretty much get more over time. Come hangout in the discord group link is in the description.

slog 2 looks better after coloring on 8bit
Anything below 600 iso is not good for slog3
depends on the camera. Each camera has different base iso for slog3.

Yes, it's tough and a beginner could easily break it apart but in the right guideline and testing, it's doable for everyone.
my camera actually i can set the manual exposure only at auto iso mode, how can i fix that
Same problem, how you fix that?
same :( how to fix that
