    He is the rocker, there's a statue to him in Dublin. A black Irish god, to quote him "just like a pint of Guinness" 😁 😁

      I believe he sounded more Irish than most of his fellow country men...His skin colour...Didn't matter in the end, But only "A black Irish god"...Yup! Sad loss on his death, What would he be now a days if still alive? We will never know...

    Phil Lynott's mission statement and Eric Bell's showcase. Brian Downey, drums, is great on everything. From the band's third album, when they were still a three piece. The bridge of the song refers to Ted Carroll, Thin Lizzy's then manager who ran the Rock On record stall.

    Phil was a one of kind talent, who I personally miss terribly. I’ve been a huge Lizzy fan since the 1st album, and it’s a crime they aren’t in the HOF

    • @chuckhutton5087
      @chuckhutton5087 2 роки тому +2

      Yes, though by this point it is a badge of honor to NOT be in the R&R HOF. Deserving bands like Thin Lizzy, Kansas, Supertramp, and Blue Oyster Cult keep getting passed over for the political darlings of the leftist turds in the Hall, many of whom aren’t from a rock band at all. Hall’s a joke anymore.

    "Round about this time......gonna introduce the band to ya......:" (Lizzy fans with get it)
    Brian Downey on drums
    Eric Bell on lead guitar
    Phil Lynott on bass and vocals.
    This was the line-up from 1969 - 1973, when Eric Bell left. In 1974, Brian Robertson and Scott Gorham joined and the now famous twin guitar era started. Brian R left in 1976 and was replaced by Gary Moore until 1979. Snowy White took over the slot in 1980 and was replaced by John Sykes on guitar and Darren Wharton on keyboards until the final end of the band in 1983.
    Extra note - Darren Wharton went on to form a band called Dare, who are still gigging and recording to this day. They often include alternative versions of Lizzy songs in their repertoire. You might enjoy listening to them too.

      My first Lizzy gig was the night right after Eric had thrown in the towel but the gig wasn't cancelled. Instead Phil came on stage and asked the audience to welcome his young friend on lead guitar ...... Gary Moore!!!!! It was a very short union until Lizzy went 4 piece.
      As an aside to that story, me and my band had been invited back to the Moore household for a few bevvies by Gary's dad. It was a few months before the gig in question. His dad simply said his young son was doing quite well for himself in London.... must be the understatement of the century lol.

    Phil Lynott (bass/vocals) and Brian Downey (drums) were the only two members that lasted the whole Lizzy journey. They had a string of very very talented guitarplayers from their start in 1970 to the last gig september 4th 1983 i Germany. This is from 1973s Vagabonds of the western world. The last record they did as a three piece. During the 70s they produced one of the strongest string of albums in a row by any band. Starting with Nightlife (1974), Fighting (75), Jailbreak (76), Johnny the Fox (76), Bad Reputation (77), Live and Dangerous (78) and Black Rose (79). Lynott was all things to all men. Jack of all trades. He could write everything from calypso to heavy metal. One of the greatest songwriters in the history of rock & roll. And as a lyricist he is in a class of his own when it comes to the harder side of rock. If you like the smooth side of Lynott, go for "Showdown" from 1974s Nightlife. It's so smooth it's unbelievable. Do you like the full blast guitar attack, go for their epic 1979 title-track Black Rose.
