Give 'The Hero and The Madman' a spin. You won't regret. I was 14yo when I saw a tall young black man walking up the street in my little Irish town. It was 1974 and the man was Phil Lynott.
"Still in love with you" live video, 1975 I think. You get to see the band and a pretty good song to boot. Actually, if you ever get to it, do the studio version first. Just listened to the studio version again, and forgot how good it is. From the album Nightlife, (1974).
This is the kind of song that won't let you alone. I'm betting right now, you listened to it a couple more times after you recorded this. Best Thin Lizzy song ever.
Finally!! I have been asking for this one for a LONG time. My absolute favorite Thin Lizzy song. Awesome drums and of course the two leads are amazing!!
Always been my favorite song by them. I would have given it an S tier though. Can't remember how many times I've cranked this up at a party to put everyone in a good mood. I'm 68 so it's been a lot of times. Rock on.
When I was in the Navy and stationed in San Diego, my friends and I took a bus trip to San Bernardino. We had concert tickets for Journey and Thin Lizzy opened!! They played this song!! ❤❤
I would also recommend the live version from one of the most dynamic live albums ever, Live And Dangerous. In fact side 3 is an a absolute masterclass in intensity and pacing. Starts with Cowboy Song, straight into The Boys Are Back In Town, Don't Believe A Word, Warriors and Are You Ready. The dual guitar attack of Brian Robertson and Scott Gorham really comes to the fore, Wishbone Ash had a similar dual guitar style. Was fortunate to see them live 3 times although not with Robbo unfortunately. Still one of the best live bands I ever saw. Another live album that never gets the kudos it deserves is Viva Roxy Music. Released in 1976 it bucked the trend at the time having only 8 tracks when the norm was double or triple albums. The last 3 songs (side 2), If There Is Something, In Every Dream Home and Do The Strand are breathttaking, the first two surpassing the studio versions in my opinion.
Goodness guys, it has been ages since I listen to this tune. Thank you for reminding me just how good a tune it is, and one I should listen to more often.
I still remember seeing these guys live in the 70s in Houston. They played this for their encore and when they mentioned Texas and southern girls everyone went wild!
Awesome Thin Lizzy song for sure. I would also offer Emerald from their Live and Dangerous album. One of the best and most organic guitar duels if all time.
Yes. Emerald is short but one of best rockers ever. Saw it live at Glasgow Apollo on farewell tour, joined by Brian Robertson, which tore the roof off.

My favorite thing that Phil Lynott's ever been in (outside of Thin Lizzy) is Jeff Wayne's "War of the Worlds" musical, which is a mad 70's synth musical, with narration by Richard Burton. It's insanely good, especially the bassline in Horsell Commons.
Thanks for taking me right back to high school, this album along with Kiss Alive, no internet, no computers and no cell phones. PS. The version of “Jailbreak” on that album my well fix the issues you had with the under powered studio version :)
I have waited forever for you guys to react to this song!! One of my all time favorites
The “Live and dangerous album” is a top ten live album . I heard Stev Jones (Sex Pistol ) talk about Phil Lynott and his bass. Steve gave it back to Lynotts mother after he passed away much too you . Jones know how to spin a tale
I saw Thin Lizzy live many times in the Apollo Theatre in Glasgow and when cowboy song would start the whole crowd would erupt. Ah, Happy times.
you should try their live versions, they are a bit faster and add some energy
They came out you just couldn't wait for the jukebox to crank them up at the arcade or to crank it up and drive. Just awesome. When were rocking to everything they still stood out
My favorite thing that Phil Lynott's ever been in (outside of Thin Lizzy) is Jeff Wayne's "War of the Worlds" musical, which is a mad 70's synth musical, with narration by Richard Burton. It's insanely good, especially the bassline in Horsell Commons.
No, no Nathaniel… No no Nathaniel, no 🎼. What a prog rock masterpiece, and Lynott was a highlight for sure!
Herbie Flowers played the bass.
@@varsitycamplife oh my, yes. Spirit of Man is such a great song.
Thanks "Andy & Alex" for this old Thin Lizzy song with Gary More? What a smash-song! And RIP for Gary Moore and Phil Lynott"
You got to hit Emerald by them next.
Yesssss
Damn right.
Great to see that in honor of Thin Lizzy being an Irish band, Alex wore his Rory Gallagher shirt.
Finally!!!!
This is a song that takes me back to the beginning of one hell of a ride!! Love dual leads!!🎸
"roisin dubh" is an epic song with great lyrics all about Ireland
Thanks for taking me right back to high school, this album along with Kiss Alive, no internet, no computers and no cell phones. This song was burned into my memory on a hang-gliding trip to northern Arizona. I took off from the top of an old cinder ash volcano hovering above my buddy below, I called out for him to turn on some Lizzy and turn up the volume. There I soared and hovered for 25 minutes listening to this song and most of that album, great memories. So sad we lost Phil Lynott so early.
You have to do Emerald - their best song by a country mile
My favorite Thin Lizzy song. So glad you guys got to it. Unfortunately, IMO you won't find a better song from them.
