- Here is an effective 25 minute beginner plyometrics workout for snowboarders. My name is Mark, I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy and Im passionate about snowboarding. Today we have 7 exercises that are sure to spice up your normal routine. Easy to follow timers, breaks, and explanations for each movement. As we ease into the season, this is a good example of where we should start in our plyometrics journey and why they are so important. What are your thoughts on yoga for snowboarding? I had an old friends fitness membership that was skateboard focused training. Old friends said yoga can make your muscles too flexible for skating. They explained strength and mobility exercises would give you functional flexibility for boarding. Thanks for all the great content.
Great question! I think yoga in snowboarding or any sport is underrated. Most people will never be hypomobile unless you're in a sport like gymnastics or ballet. The truth is, it's beneficial if we are efficient with our muscle range and able to contract at varying ranges effectively. At the very least, yoga is meditative which is a direct translation into any board sport which is the entire reason we do them, for the feeling of presence.
