    I had to learn all of that on my own. Trial and error I suppose. My #6 is when things get sketchy and you' think you might fall, get lower on your board. Makes it harder to fall, and when you do fall it hurts less because there's less distance between your butt/face and the ground and sometimes if you're tucked in you can just roll right back onto your feet without stopping.

    Tip number 1.5: learn how to push and ride switch, so you can go up the chairlift in your regular stance and switch stance equally. This reduces the cumulative strain that can build up on one leg and cause overuse injuries if you ride say 50+ days in a season.

    • @SnowboardProCamp

    • @ClosestNearUtopia
      @ClosestNearUtopia 2 роки тому +4

      I suggest to always go switch whenever in a non chair lift, especially if your doing them multiple times a day, strain will balance out with riding, giving rest to pain whenever in the other stance.

    Moral of the story.... snowboarding isn't for the obese. I'm a 270lbs guy and consider myself an intermediate rider (blues and some blacks). Hard to strap while the belly is on the way lmao. To eliminate strapping up while standing I ended up getting rear entry bindings (flow nx) and it made life so much easier ;D. Life goals to lose 50lbs by year end lol. Keep on shredding!

    Great tips!
    #2 - wearing a butt pad keeps me bum from getting cold, although I almost always stand when putting my back foot in the binding. Also helps when stopped and waiting for the rest of the group if you're riding with friends that may be a bit slower. Also, when making a shelf, always make certain you aren't spraying somebody else with the snow you're moving around. ;)

  • @batonodato
    @batonodato 10 місяців тому

    There is a very important addition to hack#2
    It's about safety on a steep slope.
    it is necessary to make an equally deep shelf in the snow under the second boot.
    therefore, you push the snowboard to the distance of your stance along the edge and once again make a shelf for the board under your foot, which is strepped up the binding.
    before strepping the second binding, the snowboard will stand securely on two steps, under each foot.

      Depends on where you are. In Michigan, there's not one ski lift with a foot rest bc they don't call for it. It's like a minute ride at the longest for most of them.
      These tips are helpful for beginners for sure, but not for someone that's been riding for 5, 10, 15, 20 years. You figure alot of this out within the first couple years and he knows that obviously.

      Here are a few that I could think of, but they are a bit more situational. I think you got the main ones, especially the chair lift thing. That is a huge tip to learn that I am always sharing with people!
      -Tapping heel to get heel back in boot before tightening them
      -After first tightening a boot, squat a few times then re tighten boots (works best with boa but other lacing can still benefit)
      -Flipping board over when you want to put it down (if someone is injured on the other side of a roller, you can do this with the high backs up to have it lean at an angle at the top of the roller to make sure people don't run into the injured person until patrol gets there
      -Using a board to help pull yourself up when hiking steep powder (highback loops become handles to pull)
      -Use a car snow brush your board before throwing it in your car

    Great content, as always, Kevin. I checked your channel for videos on how to get on your board after falling in deep powder, but I have yet to see any videos. Can you share a link or video on how to get back on your board after falling in deep powder?
    Thank you!

    Sometimes I found it’s easier to get up by pushing my weight to the back foot and bouncing myself up with the tail, like doing a small Ollie from the ground 😂

    When getting off lift , have heel further back on stomp pad and can dig in snow like a brake

    Amazingly, I learned all these hacks by instincts. When you're about to say what will do, I'm kinda guessing. Even the penguin walk, No one taught me, it's just I got tired walking on foot and removing one strap so I did the penguin walk.

    I just strap in as I traverse to the run. No stopping required

    I just started snowboarding again last week since middle school. I got the riding part down. What do you suggest when learning how to carve. I’m having issues clipping edges when going from toe to heel

    • @saraspangler2948
      @saraspangler2948 Рік тому +1

      Hard to say without watching you board. But, when I see people with this issue they are often doing something called counter rotating. Also you will need speed to carve so if you don't have enough speed it's difficult to change edges. Practice flat 360 spins on a green for edge control.

    shy there is no feet rest on lifts in merika?

  • @koshkinalexander
    @koshkinalexander Рік тому

    Cut me shoes several times but it makes it so much easier to travel on a chairlift. If chairlift has the rest it's even better to put you snowboard free end there.

    Just got that same exact jacket but the sage and white one a couple days ago. Clicked the thumbnail specifically cuz I saw you got the grey and black one. How you been liking it?

    I’ve only went snowboarding once, but I strap up both feet to get off my lift. My lift goes downhill when you get off tho so that’s the only valid reason I do that

    yeah, I definitely didn't know any of these... until the third day of my snowboarding 🤣🤣🤣 people will call anything a "hack" these days... like standing up.
    well, that's a game changer, who would've thought of that?! 🤣🤣🤣
