When I learned to jump, something that I did that really helped was trying to reach down, tuck my knees up, and touch the edge of my board. It helped me a lot to keep my shoulders square and my weight over the center of the board. Especially on side hit at weird angles, this helped me a ton.
I’m a 47 year old beginner and this video makes the park look easy. Thanks Kevin, I guess I’ll be either cursing you or praising you at the end of the 2022-2023 season. Hey man, sweet board - what is that you are riding?
That's so awsome! Without any background in board sports, even with... it will take some time to learn the basics of riding first. It's definitely not as easy as he makes it look haha. But a good foundation of skills and control in a variety of terrain and conditions will set you up well 🙂
Hey Kevin - love to see you riding at Northstar / Northern California. I learned to ski and then board there in the '90s. It's great that you're showing the trails and runs that I'm so familiar with. Keep on doing amazing work!
Love your videos man. You have an air of calm over you which made me do much higher jumps. I just needed to relax and dont be afraid of the speed when heading for a jump.
Kev is the ultimate rad dad… not afraid of the park, prefers to ride back country but still rocks groomers… youre an inspiration Kev! Merry Christmas!!!
this video was about 50-50s! i hope you make a video about doing 180s and 360s. my 180s are locked down, but my 360s feel like a shot in the dark and i often catch an edge on the landing. looking forward to a video about it!
You guys rock! You read my mind, I was just wondering about how to land on the board and you answered it the next day. Can you talk about speed more? I want to know what fast is for you. I track myself on a GPS app, and 30-35mph is fast for me. Can you explain what you consider to be an average speed to be comfortable with? I don't know if im slow or what I should aim for.
This video helped me a lot! I am really interested in getting into the park more but I always felt uncertain. Do u have anymore suggests for beginners to gain confidence in the park?
Learn your fundamentals first. You should be able to carve at speed before going anywhere near the park. You go in early you're gonna have bad form and hurt yourself.
Hey Kevin, thanks for the video. It helps great for my landing. And I've one question about what if you have to land on heel edge, what should I do on that situation? I'm regular rider and got some issues landing on some walls.
Duck stance is 15, 15, which is best for the park, IMO. Pop off of jumps, don't ollie. (using both feet together, it's more stable) Ollie on flat ground or onto rails.
Are the CLEW bindings too heavy for the park? I got mine recently and there is a very noticeable weight different between those and my Burton mission bindings
Jumps can be intimidating for a beginner, especially if you are a bit late to the game, cough cough... haha but these are great tips stomping the landing is a good way to survive.
This is exactly where I'm at. Especially with variable snow conditions. I will start using land on the toes tip. Landing flat base on a rocker can get squirrely.
@@BimmerDudeXi yeah man softer snow means softer landings but that's not always what you are working with. At 39 I'm staying to notice rough landings alot more lol. I ride positive camber which makes locking an edge in easier but when you land a bit off it is not as forgiving for sure.
I’m still learning to ride park but one thing I don’t get is why do some rails seem like there’s a dangerous chance of missing the jump and catching your board, ie they don’t have a full snow ramp up to the front of the rail?
Those are for more advanced riders. The goal is to be able to jump from the side of the jump onto the rail, and some riders will spin onto them and boardslide out or something.
Anyone else wondering why Kevin is riding a setback in the terrain park? Seeing a lot of setbacks lately and not understanding why -- always thought that was for powder.

It’s a 2023 K2 Afterblack
From a 40 year old the park can be difficult. Take your time out there and progress safely Nick! I’ve got the K2 Afterblack

Thanks I was wondering where was this gigantic snowpark 🤯
That was really helpful, Keviiiin. Thanks. Took away two, three things I did not know before.
Thanks for the tips, I want to start larger jumps soon and this made me feel way more prepared

Thanks for the guidance on 90 flat/10 toe landing with subsequent turns as speed checks. Very helpful

Thank you for these specific tips! I’m heading to North Star this week!!
Great tips, Kev! Hoping to hit my first park jumps this szn 🙏🏻
Amazing video quality my guy soooo sick with the mic!!!
Loving the videos! been practicing riding switch and hitting small jumps and these vides help a lot.
I was searching for this yesterday!
Awesome. More jump vids please. Why do i keep losung control in the air and crashing? Air control?

4:46 I heard that 😂
Great, clear tips as always, cheers Kevin
Great video!
whats the size of your board?
so many nice jumps!
Northstar jumps are fire!
Shout out to the camera man... whomever he may be....? 😉
What kind of Microphone do you use? All the videos I see your voice sounds crisp even when not close to the camera!

Duck stance 15+ 15- ? And your jump = ollie? Or both foot up? Ollie is good for flath ground i think

@@moserj13 ok 😄
I love seeing you ride Northstar. How long are you going to be there for? I went a couple weeks ago and was hoping to run into you.
Do you use any forward lean on bindings? wouldnt that help begginers with suspension stance for landing?
Are the CLEW bindings too heavy for the park? I got mine recently and there is a very noticeable weight different between those and my Burton mission bindings
Oh this video is a year old so probably didn't have them yet, but question still stands
What are your binding angles for this?
hands over the board 💯
Hi, Kevin🙌 thanks for videos!
what angles you use?
Nice tutorial bro!🦍🏂🏾💨
Thanks for sharing.

You need to incorporate grabs when in air, they greatly help your center of gravity (and they look cool)
Grab video coming!
Pants are sick, what are they called?
Nvm i found them on evo
They are Quicksilver. Thanks!
Where is that ?
Would doing a dry a ride (no jumps or rails) through the park to see the steepnes and drop on features help with figuring out speed?
Yah kinda but watching peoples speed helps more id say
Yup 1000%, I personally wouldn’t do a jump unless I saw it before hand

thx bro i'll shred a lot better on the big air !

Step 1: be anywhere but Europe and actually have good snow.
I go slightly on my heels off jumps
Great tips , also wear a helmet! (I see you are 😊)
