- Have you ever tried a marquesita? If you are wondering what we are talking about, well, it's Merida Yucatan's favorite snack! This emblematic treat resembles a combination of a crepe and a waffle cone, cooked in minutes on iron plates in high heat. You can fill it any way you like, but the iconic ingredient is the queso de bola, or dutch Edam cheese.
La marquesita is an original Mexican street food and can be found in the area of Yucatan peninsula.Nowadays, you can find them stuffed with banana, jams, Nutella, cream cheese, cajeta, caramel, strawberries, and so many other toppings. In this video we explore the origin story behind this ultra popular treat, la marquesita, which you can now find in many parts of Mexico outside of the Yucatan.

Marquesitas are our favorite Mexican snack it’s unfortunate they aren’t sold all over Mexico, yet.

Yes you do!! They're pretty much everywhere in Yucatan but if you're lucky you might find them in other parts of Mexico.

If you are not in the Yucatan peninsula area in Mexico they are hard to find. We miss them when we leave! 😭😭😭
