Great video, but PLEASE PLEASE do NOT put a monitor anywhere near the bike riders point of view. I did exactly this and had a serious accident (which could have put me in a wheelchair) with only a momentary glance away. If reframing is necessary then either a passenger (on the bike), or in a car following should be used in my view. There are too many things to concentrate on when driving a bike! I love the cornering angle that the bike produces though , although I get a more reliable result from car rigs - could be down to the more damped nature of a heavier vehicle, or the aerodynamics creating less buffeting - or less high frequency vibration from a car - whatever the reason cars are the mount I choose.
Dude I'm surprised you were able to mount the 4D right side up on the Tilta Hydra. I've been mounting it upside down, and thought that was the only way! 🤪
For the Ronin 4D, I would think you would have to mount the camera from THE TOP, not the bottom, as this would allow the sensors on the bottom of the camera to remove all of that vibration and up and down bumps.
As opposed to showing up with your Canon R5 …… That hurts my friend , and then the Simpsons laugh track added to the blow . Proud R5 user , but I use both the photo and video capabilities.
Good for you. I’m sure you may do a better job as well, but clients will definitely laugh at you showing up with that in a high end car commercial. That’s what he meant.
Great review. Really interested in the 4D. Been using the DJI 3D focus with my Lumix S5 and while it's not perfect it has at least giving me the option for using auto-focus with Panasonic cameras. I am pretty sure that DJI will be coming out with a Version 2 of the 4D with more lenses and the ability to hold heavier lenses.
Awesome video, my set up is someone driving the motorcycle with me on the back of it holding my gimbal, upside down for low angle shoots, i think its the most cost effective and the most dynamic way, especially if the motorcycle has something to prevent me from falling back, i sometimes sit in the opposite direction, in the back and then have more control over my shots
That is really something that the DJI auto tracking and focus work so well in tandem with not needing a Teradek. Very neat to have compared all three setups - great job! Makes you wonder if DJI has a patent on the 4d style camera. I remember in 2013 saying how it would be cool to have a gimbal where the lens would be on my C100.
Something not right with this test, you testing mostly the stabilisation of the Rohnin 4d with has gimbal built in with red camera which has no stabilisation at all and then not doing enough test interns of image quality and dynamic range to make it more fair since they are both cameras
@@mfjae I’m not hating. I’m agreeing the poster of the comment in saying that the review was built in one cameras favour. The review was not on a level playing field. If we were testing practicality on a standard shoot, dynamic range, etc. it would be more fair. This is the equivalent of saying: what’s more stable running down the street? The camera with the built in gimbal, or the camera with no in body stabilization that takes time to put on a gimbal and balance…
There's a lot to like about the Ronin 4D...really interesting product. However, the footage from it looks like a cell phone compared to the RED. I get why DJI integrated it's own camera system into the 4D, but I'm eagerly awaiting a 4 axis gimbal that we can fly our own cameras on.
Life hack - in the "golden" times (the late 90s, early 2000s), bikers folded a magazine (for vibration reduction), put a camcorder on it, and attached it all to a motorcycle using adhesive tape.
Did you get smoother footage with the Hydra arm set stiffer or looser? Any other tips or tricks with the arm settings or RS2 settings to help get smooth video? I've seen some people have problems with getting smooth footage with the Hydra arm but you nailed it! Would love to see an in-depth review on the Hydra arm if possible!
Hi Armando, saw your name on Google as I was surfing through how to get the best used camera and what to check out. Please i have some few questions. I want to buy a nikon d800 on ebay and there's one that's say Shutter Count 147,700 and another that says Shutter count 72,780 and another that says 13,270. Please which one is a good purchase? Does Shutter count means life left or life used... NB: a Brand New Nikon D800 shutter count is 200,000 actuation. Thanks for your reply in advance sir.
Armando I am shooting an indie feature in LA in April. How can I get my hands on one of these other than buying? Is there anyone renting? Please advise. Thank you.
Komodo looked great! I think it looked much more cinematic because it was lower and looked up at the Tesla. Was it hard to mount the 4d lower with the car mount?

Impressive 😲
Here we go, 500K subs!!!! You deserve each one, sir-
LOL. that wink at 07:30 :D

Man such a good video seeing how well the ronin 4d films!
Armando, it is always a joy to watch your reviews. Good stuff mi amigo. 😉
That tesla actually looks like an aston martin with no teeth.
great video man thanks for doing this

Great test and review as always! Gracias!
Mounting any camera to a vehicle without a vibration isolator is a bad idea, not surprised the motorbike footage went crazy

Agreed. The test itself was built to be biased.
@@itsreinfit3143 hey its called utube you really think it pays to be honest
@@mfjae the point is… one has a clear advantage going in… so it’s biased to begin with.

yeah interesting
Nice video as always 🙏 you get 👍 as always I enjoy your work
Armando, we are missing the shots with the Mavic Pro.
That’s in Hugos channel
I wonder the camera u use for your talking head, quality so crispy 🔥
Sony FX3

I’m pretty sure it was the fact the they used the DJI lenses and at 16mm or whatever it was. 16mm always going to look terrible for a car.
Agreed. I haven't seen a single bit of footage shot on the Ronin 4D that has blown me away.

Top footage 👍
I think filming people & or narrative is a perfect test. What the rest of us film. Cars are very niche

Is the image quality comparable between red and DJI?
Not even close
Komodo looked great! I think it looked much more cinematic because it was lower and looked up at the Tesla. Was it hard to mount the 4d lower with the car mount?
Because we had no time we really didn’t have time to experiment. But shouldn’t be too hard to invert and mount it lower
Dose the ronin 4d use the same lens as the 7x inspire 2?
I too get the shake we get after getting Ronin or ziyun or any gimbe mounted on that car or motorcycle...
I noticed at 8:08 there is no ratchets straps or other rigging used encase it ever fell off?
Where did you get the ronin 4d case
Came with camera
Wind could also be a factor as to why the 4D was shaking on the bike. May not be strong enough. Ronin 2 can handle up to 75mph wind I believe.
I don’t know your guys’ whole process of course, just thought I’d share a possibility. But it looks smooth when on the freeway. 🤷♂️
So from your perspective, is the image quality on the same level and how close is it?
The RED is far, far away from the 4D - I saw a lot of Videos and Reviews and it's not even comparable.
Instead of dji mavic use a dji pocket for the budget option.
Ronin 4D system is shaky because storing wind hit to physical gimbal.
Nice video 🇲🇾
It most definitely was the time of flight sensors. By covering them it could not compensate for the ups and downs of the road.
16 comments and 4k views it never adds up to me.
WHY MOTORCYCLE AGAINST CAR?
