For those who need to speed things up:
The fastest way to defrost that drain is to trickle a kettle of boiling water into it. Mine was sorted in 2 minutes.
I used an oven tray under the bottom of the freezer opening to catch any overspill.

Thankyou so much for this. I had the same problem. I could not find the drain hole at the back of the freezer (on the inside). As you explained it was covered in a thick sheet of ice so covered over and not able to drain away. I used a hair dryer to speed up the thaw. I couldn't wait all day otherwise all the food would have spoiled and the fridge freezer is packed for Christmas in 2 days time. You saved my Turkey. Lol
GREAT VIDEO. I sped things up slightly by chipping away the majority of the ice in the drain gully, placing a serving tray under the appliance, then repeatedly pouring boiling water into the gully. pushed a screwdriver up the drain tube at the end to finally get the water flowing. Thanks so much. My wife is now off my back!

Found an easy fix for an upright freezer. Just raised the front legs about a quarter inch. Problem solved. This video was helpful.
You may be able to keep this problem from re-occurring by wrapping a piece of heavy copper or aluminum wire around the defrost heating element near the bottom of the cooling coils with the other end laying in the bottom of the trough near the drain hole. It should conduct enough heat from the defrost heater to keep the water in the trough from freezing or to thaw it if it does.

My Freezer drainage system was blocked just like yours with ice and I took everything out the freezer and propped a Heater up pointed at my freezer everything melted and with in 2 hours I was set. Now my freezer is making ice cubes (b4 it wasn’t)

Do you HAVE to drain the tray at the back afterwards? What would happen if i didn't? Not sure I can get access to the back
Most probably the problem was that two locations of the wall of the drain tray was warped outward reducing the hight and resulting in subsequent overflows to the inside of outer freezer compartment. Furthermore, there must be more humidity surrounding the the freezer-fridge, than the design capacity of the drain tray. Or, rear of the box was higher than the front level, so as to cause the slight water leakage atop the wall of the front end of the drain tray.
Do you know if this has to do with your refrigerator not cooling?
Unfortunately this is just a temporary solution... Just because it will happen again after some time. So the title "Complete Solution" is a bit misleading. I had the same problem with my LG 594 fridge/freezer, after 4 years of using it, started leaking water from freezer bottom on the floor. The cause was the drain hole was full of ice which blocked the drainage tube. De-iced and all went well for another 2 months then again leakage. Same issue, ice blocked water drain outlet. This time tried to add a small improvement to the resistor bar doing the defrosting. I added a small piece of metal attached to the resistor bar and made it stay close to the drain hole. The idea is to bring the heat from resistor a bit closer to the drain hole so it will not be blocked by ice again. Will see how it works in time. So far, one month after the improvement, no leakage but it is too soon to say it's definitely fixed.

Thanks I'll give it a go, unfortunately I can't get my fridge out to look at the tray. I can see the ice so I'll see if I can find another solution so that all the ice out without doing a full defrost

Iv brought a chest freezer 2 weeks ago and I’m starting to get water leaks from the bottem please help
I'm moving home next Friday, if i take everything out of the fridge and ieave it switched off for a week will i need to do anything other than empty the tray at the back?

Yes but after 18 months the same problem has occurred
If you wrap a copper wire around the heating element and put it in the drain, it should prevent it from freezing again and the need to defrost it..
