Chalkspray is also a great alternative. It is also better to use two colors. first apply a thin coat of a dark color like black, then very lightly apply a light color like white, but dont fully coat it, it has to be speckled all over the surface.

Anything adding structure works. Paints, mud, flower whatever you want to use for a certain application. You can use water colors and fling it with and old toothbrush.

Hi awesome video! Jus wondering how easy is dry shampoo to clean off such as plastics and metals? Thanks!

Super easy, you can just rub it off with a little towel and a bit of water completely removes it too.

That's interesting that you can use something like the dry shampoo like that. What about an ordinary can of spray paint? Another great video Tommy, thank you! 😀

Thanks Fiona. Spray pant works well, especially matte gray, I used a spray painted model in a previous video to achieve great results. But it is unfortunately permanent which may be undesirable on certain items.

@@TommyHoughton Lol, yeah depending on the model you're using, you might want to be able to wash the paint/shampoo off

Hi, may I know if there are different kinds of dry shampoo ? do all of them deposite a layer of white powder on the object as shown in the video ?

Not all of them. I used one that specifically did not have a “no white residue” label. Some leave residue and some don’t, the only way to tell is if a label indicates it.

Will dryshampoo or footpowderspray hurts the paintcoating from figures / are hard to remove after scanning?

Dry shampoo shouldn’t affect any of the coatings on the model, using a toothbrush and a bit of water should be able to easily remove any left over powder. I’d recommend testing this technique on a piece that isn’t too important to make sure it has the desired effect/process.

Hey am doing this for hobby and am just curious what exact brand of hair spray is that or what you look for on the can

I used Batiste dry shampoo, make sure to avoid any cans that advertise “no white residue” or similar, as the residue is what we want.
