You should've used the OG white Xbox 360s with zephyr and falcon chips. Those were the units infamous for having a high chance of getting RROD. It'll be quite interesting stress testing them
It would be interesting, but I imagine they’d probably still fail at some point. The chips are still getting hot when under load; it’s the thermal expansion and contraction cycling of the chip and interposer that was responsible for the RRoD, not overheating.
@@nameless-user I mean to be fair literally every console created will all eventually fail. Also as far as Fat Xbox 360s.are concerned, Jasper revisions are solid reliability wise.
I highly recommend taking out the hard drive whenever messing with a 360, in order to avoid any damage or messing up the hdd or the console. It's very easy, as with slim and E model consoles, you just have to pull on the tab and it should come out easily.

I think for the PC thing, if you’re willing to dabble in it a bit, you could probably find a way to mount the Xbox 360 power supply in there. The jack it uses to plug into the wall unplugged separately as its own part and it’s the same as a normal PC cable.
Good job! Since you are going through all the effort it would be cool to see a temp sensor directly on the die and maybe one in the fluid, its pretty useful information
Man what a cool build and video! Back in the day (2008) we lanned 2 OG 360s for 8 player halo 3 in a garage. Got so hot we used household fans to cool them 😂 later got something called an xbox intercooler that clipped onto the back and extracted the warm air. Still got my old 360 in the garage but my daughter prefers the ps3🙈
The Xbox 360E is already cool. The only problem with it are the ram and built-in memory. I look forward to seeing another video from you doing a watercooled mod from the Xenon, Xephyr, Opus, and Falcon revisions and doing a test.
I have a new one in original box. Only used once after i put a custom firmware board in it, then back in box and been sitting in closet along with 6 others.
Hey Loved the video! quick question, where might I find the water cooling components you used in the video? (planning on starting a similar project on one of my consoles)
Thanks! I believe your best bet would be AliExpress, or Amazon, I purchased these on Trade Me, but that’s a local New Zealand site. PC component/tech sites may also have similar components.
I love the build not sure about the aluminum plate i cant remember if it could potentially short circuit it but other than that its a great buld cant wait for the sleeper build
It’s possible that it could short circuit the components, I did use spacers, but I disassembled the whole project shortly after it was done as I had some concerns about the longevity. I’m looking forward to getting started on the sleeper build! I’ve got 1.5 videos to go before I get started.
Awesome video just curious on what kind of screws did you use? I've always wanted to do some modding aswell but not with consoles. Could never find any screws that were that small unless im not looking hard enough..
Most of the screws I used were M3 between ~1mm and ~50mm, when taking it apart there might have been a few M2’s, but the majority was M3. I bought a few packs of M3 screws with multiple lengths that are used with an allen key bit (I don’t know the name) and I use them for almost every project. For general modding, 9/10 times M3 screws are used, I have noticed M2’s being used occasionally, but it’s much rarer.
I was wondering if I could use an Arduino to monitor multiple points of temp in my truck :o I drive an 03 f150 and I was thinking about replacing the outside temp display that's in the top console with a custom display that measures a couple of temps around the engine, cabin, and even outside lol maybe even show off some cool animations on boot
Wow bring back some memories I had mine watercooled with a 120mm rad all those years ago you used to be able to buy actual proper waterblocks that fitted perfectly - i probably still got mine in the shed lol.
nice video, just to know having a modded 360 (rgh-jtag) allows you to check the temperature of the whole console (cpu-gpu-mem-etc...) from the console itself just wanted to tell you that maybe it will come in handy sometime
