I have the ability to drum using various techniques I've learned throughout my life but I have to say that I am not capable of doing it. I have tried about 25 times and I always hit the rims. What a great line.....He was your favorite drummer’s favorite drummer. There are performers and there are musicians. Neil Peart was a musician. Rush may not have been a favorite of yours. That’s ok. Thank you for being open minded and receptive to the music and for expressing your thoughts. I look forward to seeing more of your vlogs in the future. Peace.

You sir, brought tears to my eyes in this reaction. It has been a week since I heard of Neil's passing and my wife and I got through the night watching the Time Stands Still video which tore me apart. This reaction has hit me! I have seen every tour since A Farewell to Kings show in North Bay Ontario when I was 15 and have watched his drum solo evolve throughout every tour. This band influenced my life beyond belief. I can tell that you are real and really appreciate them and that your reaction channel for at least Rush is not just a money making UA-cam thing but you really do get it. RIP "The Professor".

"You gotta be in some kind of shape!" Damn right you do. neil himself once said that playing a Rush gig was like running a marathon while solving math equations. :)
It was Summer of 1974 a band came from Canada 🇨🇦 to New York and a song was being played on our local Rock radio station 95.5 WPLJ Fm New York’s Best Rock. the song, was called working man. It was all over from then onward. Rush was not just another band, but a force of Nature.. 🎸 with then drummer, John Rusty who also passed away on 2008 then, Neil Peart 🥁 both of you will live on in our hearts💔and in our souls 😢
I've never been a celebrity type person but I still get teary eyed knowing such beautiful music and exquisitely crafted lyrics will never be written again and as a long time Rush fan I appreciate your heart felt condolences. If there's one thing I am grateful for it's that I got to be here for the wonderful ride.
I got away from listening to Neil and Rush for quite a while. Thanks for bringing me back. Neil's percussion compositions became so rich with his study of music outside Rock. It's astounding that one person could embrace that much diversity of music in one lifetime. Rest Neil, you made the world a better place.
Thanks for the respect. I found Neil when I was a young drummer and his drumming inspired me to not only reach for a new level, but to never be satisfied at where I was. Always the student never the master. His drumming influenced me beyond belief. But his lyrics also shaped my mind. Losing him was a major impact to me. Thank you for sharing this. True proof that he will live on in what he created. Peace brother.
His drum solos were just a fraction of his great and inspirational abilities. His percussion and lyrics are and I do mean are, what stirs emotions in every fan. I've studied under his tutelage for decades as a drummer and his passing has affected me more than I could have fathomed. Limelight has helped me cope more than the professor could have ever known. Thank you Neil, we the faithful shall grieve for years to come. Jamel your amount of respect for the professor is exemplar. Bless you too.
I grew up listening to Rush, I played Drums with my twin brother Erik for 35 years and always idolized Neil Peart, thanks for paying respect and tribute to Neil... Gone but not forgotten!... Rest in Peace with love, loyalty and respect my musical friend... We all have your music that lives on in our collective hearts!
Love that switch from matched grip to traditional. This man was a true phenom! We were blessed to hear his music (both his percussion chops and his lyrics)!
Thanks so much for this. What can I say? Neil was and will continue to be an inspiration on so many levels...his music, his words, his curiosity and willingness to always be learning and improving. And, of course, his personal story of loss, his long journey to find himself again and return to music, as well as writing numerous books. According to his editor, he would ask himself each day, "what is the most excellent thing I can do today?", and whatever it was, he would dedicate his attention and care to that. It showed, Neil, really it did.
Neil constructed his solos like a song. It wasn't just ten minutes of flailing wildly at a drum set like most drum solos are. With their show, and what he's doing with the set rotating at certain times is all written out so everyone back there knows whats going on.
The kick and hi-hat that starts at 4:50 ... and keeps on going ... by 6:25 his brain has detached the feet, to continue in autopilot, while he does an unrelated solo with his hands...mind-blowing!!! Love this solo...it showcases the musical composition he brought to Rush songs...oh and great lyrics too... smart guy! RIP Prof. Neil
It’s easy to forget how a great musician, maybe especially a drummer, is also a great athlete. Making real music is a physical art. Besides the brute force and endurance required, rhythm has to be unconsciously perfect, memory flawless, reactions lightning fast, and hand-eye coordination like a baseball hitter’s. Like you said, he’s not young. So he’s dedicated. Great drummer. Drummers are like goalkeepers: they’re born that way. You either want to play drums or goalkeeper and nothing else, or you want nothing to do with it. R.I.P., Mr. Peart

This is my first time saying something to you and ive been a fan for awhile. Im thankful to you for doing this, its been a hard few days for me since he died. it was a pleasure seeing hear this for the first time. cheers buddy.
He Was Incredible🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Jamal, I’ve only seen a few of your vlogs. You seem to appreciate good musicians and good musicianship. Rush has been my favorite band since 1981. Neil Peart was a huge Buddy Rich fan in later life. He loved jazz. He still studied with a teacher in order to continue to improve his craft. He was not satisfied. He continually wanted to get better. Peace.
That's what made Neil such a great drummer... he was NEVER too old or too good to learn...very humble... RIP Professor ...
I saw Rush in 1977 - 1987 and 2015. Great band and I've always been a fan...Neil Peart was truly a wordsmith and a badass drummer...
Excellent Choice for honoring his memory! This shows you do get the love we have all had for him and his skill, talent and mastery of his craft. 11/10. CHURCH!
RIP The Professor
The world lost the drummer of all drummers. What a great tribute to the professor, Instant follow. RIP Mr. Peart music will never be the same. Thanks again for the tribute.
He's not just a drummer,he's a true percussionist.
I was fortunate enough to see him do this solo twice. In awe every time I watch this video. R.I.P professor.
Thanks so much for this reaction!! I've been a Rush fan for over 30 yrs!! Thanks for recognizing him as upon him passing away!! He'll always be known as the greatest drummer in the world!!
THE PROFESSOR!!! God rest his sole. He will be missed.
Much respect to you for doing this video. "The Professor". He will be be greatly missed.
"You gotta be in some kind of shape!" Damn right you do. neil himself once said that playing a Rush gig was like running a marathon while solving math equations. :)
The professor and the general of the drums, Neil you will never be forgotten

Heartbroken. R.I.P. Professor ❤
A lifetime of hard work , talent, and persistence. He inspired me back in 1980 to buy my first kit. Still have it, just under the dust
You appreciation and respect for Neil is returned to you 10x. Thank You for that warm intro. God bless you.
RIP Neil.
You are a class act. I''m still feeling it more than a week after the horrible loss was announced. Thank you for your video - we all miss him.
I got away from listening to Neil and Rush for quite a while. Thanks for bringing me back. Neil's percussion compositions became so rich with his study of music outside Rock. It's astounding that one person could embrace that much diversity of music in one lifetime. Rest Neil, you made the world a better place.
R.I.P. Neil Peart! Thank you for all the beats.
Thank you jamel for your condolences to Neil peart
Thank you for honoring Neil..your honesty and sincerity are a positive influence.keep it up!!
He's the best ever. That's a fact........
Mr1Gitrdone yessir
I saw him while tripping on acid. Best show ever!!
Scientific fact!
Thank you. His passing hit me hard. All I can say is, Heaven is lucky.
Hearing about Neil's passing hit me particularly hard. Forever air drumming to Xanadu👌
My favorite band in high school. The best concert I’ve ever seen. It was an honor to be able to see them live. RIP Neil, you will not be forgotten.
RIP Neil. You were a drum god!!!!
Love that switch from matched grip to traditional. This man was a true phenom! We were blessed to hear his music (both his percussion chops and his lyrics)!
What often gets missed in this video, the horns at the end weren't added, they were electronically tied to his symbol crashes. HE played the horns.
My heart is broken and overflowing with joy. He's free!

I usually hate things like drum solos, but I got a chance to see Rush a few times and I always looked forward to Peart's drum compositions.
I like that you used the word composition, cause that's what his drum solos were, well crafted compositions
Neil's solos aren't just solos, they are actual songs.
Neil constructed his solos like a song. It wasn't just ten minutes of flailing wildly at a drum set like most drum solos are. With their show, and what he's doing with the set rotating at certain times is all written out so everyone back there knows whats going on.
He added to the composition between tours. His solo kept getting longer. Huge loss.
Thank you for honoring him. Thank you for mentioning SRV.
Hes the best ever drummer. period. hands down. and was a good friend of my bro. RIP Neil.
R.I.P., Mr. Peart
