I was just speechless about fujimoto's truthfulness in this chapter, it was a weird feeling.
He really cooked with this chapter. I really had to read 4 times cause it blew my mind
Everyone was saying "midsaw man this, midsaw man that" and all the while I was just waiting for Fujimoto to simply cook. AND COOK HE DID. This chapter was so fucking good for how well it just caused everything to simply click. To bad we gotta wait two weeks for the next chapter, but Chainsaw man is just getting WAY too good.

All other fears and in general, everything we feel is substantially done to avoid death, so by disappearing the devil of death you would be mechanically disappearing all types of suffering, we feel pain to avoid continuing in that situation that causes us pain since can cause us death, we are afraid to instinctively distance ourselves from situations that can cause us death, we even feel happy to continue doing the things that will probably keep us alive, such as exercising, eating well and being sociable, etc... Our entire system and functioning is made to be able to survive as best as possible until reproducing and dying is the absolute impossibility of reproducing, that is why death is the greatest fear and at the same time the basis of all our functioning as human beings, we function based on reproducing and Its absolute opposite is death, so yes, we function based on death.
I dont think thats how it works, the fear of death may be gone, but death still exists, the devils are just manifestations of something that already exists, but they arent that THING by definition.

I’m glad everyone is seeing how great this part is. It’s genuinely great, it’s just a slow burn and honestly it’s much more rewarding this way! It’s allowed us to really delve deep into the characters and left us to speculate, and now here we are. It’s all clicked together, just like food that takes a long time to create.
I don’t think people realize that the first part is JUST as slow in the beginning as part 2 is. People have just gotten so used to it all being available to read. But I bet if they tried to read a chapter a week of part 1 they’d feel the same way.
Nostradamus Prophecy is going to be an absolutely insane arc knowing Fujimoto. I’m expecting some of the craziest twists and peaks when the Death Devil comes around.

Im extremely excited to see how Death herself is as a character and what Fujimoto decides to go with.
The powers of the fire devil was something im sure nearly nobody was expecting, but the Darkness Devil's powers were more straightforward, same for Control and a bit in the middle for War
Maybe her power is to straight up change shape or to have any Devil Power since Death comes in all shapes and sizes, maybe her power is simply that she herself can't die, or maybe it's something more esoterical, like dictating the way somebody will die and the world itself changing and aligning to that way, like if she said "You will die from a car crash in 5 seconds" a car comes out of nowhere and destroys her objective, or maybe something else, im so excited
Im also really excited to see her personality, i personally would like her to very upbeat and generally happy to contrast with her being the Death Devil, i'd love that but regardless im excited for what Fujimoto is cooking
I was also thinking that the Death Devil would be able to transform into anything. More precisely to transform into any living being that is capable of killing something AND any object that can be used to kill something. And her personality might be a contrast to death: She would be very energetic and lively. But who knows what Fuji has in store for us.

I was surprised by the reveal of the death devil and how it was the threat of the Nostradamus prediction, and also how chainsaw man and war devil are key weapons that are needed to take out the death devil.
Also, the reaction of katana man was hilarious, he was definitely having flashbacks to that tournament arc.

Chapter 84. Makima refers to there being at one time 4 possible conclusions other than death at the end of a living being's life span, but that these were devoured and erased by the 'previous' or 'black' Chainsaw man.
Would death be feared as it is today if it wasn't inevitable?
Chapter 87. Makima says that the Weapon Devils AND the FOUR horsemen (emphasis on four, Death is included) were fighting against Chainsaw Man.
Why are we saying we need a powered up War + Chainsawman to fight Death when before we needed Conquest + Famine + War + Death + all weapons to fight just Chainsawman?

However, how public safety has gone about convincing him life is worth living was wrong, and will push him towards helping Fami's goal.
What Denji needed was love, he needed to get closer to Asa, but because she's got War inside of her with her own goals, it complicates things.

It sounds less like they don’t want it prevented and they instead want Chainsaw Man to defeat death on their terms
Every chapter the story keeps getting better and better and this volume isn't even finished. We got huge reveals, confirmations and the very start of what I personally believe to be WW3 in the CSM world. Terrorist attacks were already confirmed in Canada and China, and this guarantees Japan will be an international target since both the summoning of Falling and the Chainsaw Man Church were both Fami's doing.
The Fire Devil is very interesting, because I'm not sure whether it could be considered a Primordial Devil or not. The Great King of Terror being Death and her promised early arrival adds a lot of tension to how the story feels from this point until the end of Part 2. In case she ends up showing like let's say in the next volume, it would be extremely interesting, because no matter the outcome, humanity will be changed forever and we might end up with a couple post apocalyptic arcs.
The theory that Yoru will wield Pochita as a weapon is so far the most believable one, considering how Part 2 starts and Yoru's neverending ambition of turning him into a weapon. Makima, Yoru and Fami's plans all align with eachother. This adds so much depth and weight to Part 1.
I love Fami and do believe most of what she says is true, but I have a feeling she might mislead everyone. This whole thing of stopping Death is very weird to me, because this World War does nothing but empower Death and what I believe to be practically summoning her. The Four Horsemen are linked even in the way the story unfolds, each appearing in order: Control, War, Famine and Death, as if the actions of the previous act as a summoning ritual for the next in line.
Fujimoto please keep doing what you're doing! The patience of those who have read Part 2 with each release has paid off. I have 1000% trust in his vision and so much respect for him prioritising the story he wants to tell, in the way he wants to tell it 💜
We still have six months to tunnel through, though. I believe Death is similar to Gun but played straight. Meaning that she is the de facto final boss, in which our protagonists have some time to train and adventure in order to fight against.
I feel like other people would’ve said this already, but I feel like Death’s arrival is gonna be anti-climactic in the best way. I mean, the twist ending of Part 1 was that the final boss would be Makima instead of the Gun Devil whereas Part 2 seems to be teeing up the idea that there is no possible way that a fight will lead to a positive outcome. So if Chainsaw Man is even gonna have a semblance of a happy ending, I could see Denji making friends with Death which would instead put him against Asa/War. Death’s erasure seems like it would actually be what leads into the Age of Devils, so unless he’s planning to do a Part 3, I could see Death being a morally grey character who Denji has to talk down instead of fight. I’m sure there’s either more to it or I end up being miles off base, but that’s my thoughts on how I think Part 2 is gonna end.
I’m pretty sure there will be a part three, once all of the Devils are on earth and wiping out of all of the humans. It’s up to Denji, Reze, Katana man, Quan Xi, Power and Kobeni to stop them and the four horsemen.
@@samflood5631 That sounds way too cut-and-dry for the Author we’re all talking about. This mad man very often sends massive curveballs at his stories while keeping them personal, leading to wildly unpredictable stories with deep character arcs. I honestly doubt, if a Part 3 is happening, that it’s gonna revolve around a plot as simple as the one you’re describing when both Part 1 and 2 have had much more complexity to their plot than that.
yeah i think a part 3 will happen kinda like the "aftermatch" of what happened where we'll see the last days of humanity or something similar, hard to guess what will happen until we see death devil but i'm sure a part 3 WILL happen like a conclusion sort of
This chapter was SO GOOD, since the reveal of the prophecy being that death will arrive, wipe out humanity and bring about an age of devils, I think the only way to stop this is to fight her in hell, based on how insanely powerful the high tier devils are gun, primordial, horseman, etc they would need to fight in a seperate dimension to avoid the destruction of earth. Falling devil was there for a NIGHT and the use of her ability caused gravity fluctuations and thus natural disasters, no way are they fighting a being that for all we know can snap their fingers and all life ends.
I get the feeling that when the death devil shows up we're gonna lose some important characters like possibly Yoshida, Fujimoto don't fuck around

Well after all of the s**t he’s done through out Part 2, I’m pretty sure both Denji and Asa won’t forgive him. Hell if Asa does turn evil, she’ll use Yoshida’s spine as her sword and starts to wipe out all of the Devil Hunters. In fact, after all of the controversial things the Devil Hunters have done in the past, I’m pretty sure the Japanese Government will order the military and police to hunt down and wipe out all of the Devil Hunters and brand them as criminals.
Fujimoto cooked up an awesome chapter cuz it answered many questions I had before. We now see that the foretelling of the Death Devil is upon them and that maybe Makima had a more intricate plan than what we believed in part 1.

@@mydalomboy3218 You are correct. To be fair however, it was a 1v4+; he fought them AND the weapon devils with a solid defeat of Nuclear weapons.
Also 1v1ed war and apparently war killed him many times but he just gets back up after he dies apparently according to yoru so she couldn't beat him . I imagine the 4 horsemen spawn killing pochita and him just regenerating coming back. With new tactics every time he dies he comes back and gets a plan to escape/kill which is probably how he erased nuclear weapons and nerfed yoru to the floor

The irony is that without the concept of death, there would be no concept of "life". Humanity's fear is what gave birth to these devils, the fear that is so ancient and primordial, possibly even the first devil to ever exist... so what do you do to exterminate that kind of concept?
I’m feeling like the final saga the prophecy of Nostradamus will be some apocalyptic event on a biblical levels similar to the book of revelations, it’s gonna be a world wide scale conflict where humanity is gonna end up in the brink of extinction, something like the world of Fire Punch.
I really hope that when The Death Devil is finally introduced in CSM, she will have a badass introduction like Horseman Death in Supernatural.

something I would like to point out is that without the original demons, hybrids don't get stronger or weaker, you can see when Makima weakens Pochita and Denji doesn't change at all, so we can imagine that at some point, Denji will have to be killed so that Pochita is no longer his heart and he returns to his full form, I wonder how Asa will feel about that, or Nayuta, or Denji himself. everything points to his death and that makes me very sad, my boy doesn't deserve this fate

I feel like eating the death devil would cause eternal life and thats like not good at all😭 and it would be more in line with famines goal of preserving humanity at the expense of never knowing death and therefore doomed to perpetual existence on earth. Well I wonder since we know that the more a devil is feared, the more powerful they grow. So what if you could make people fear death itself less? Would the death devil grow weaker?
Death is what gives us humans meaning that there is a life after the darkness of this world.Without it we would grow bored of each other and we could not live the life at its fullest...soo in conclusion death it's a neccesary thing even in this universe.
Honestly, I don't think Denji or Asa would follow through with the anti-Nostradamus plan of either side.
Like, what do they gain from working with the Church? Denji gets objectified all over again and War gets practically crippled by a seemingly apathetic sister & her band of psychos?
And with Public Safety; Denji gets sacrificed over a _slight suspicion_ over being Nostradamus, while Asa has to spend the rest of her miserable life as a glorified weapon-printer for the corrupt P.S?
And _we never got a clear answer for who Nostradamus could actually be, did we?_ He could be goddamn NUKE DEVIL for all we know! (Godzilla / The Lich parallels here)
All this leads me to suspect that; like Oedipus, all of Public Safety & CSM Church's attempts at preventing / fighting Nostradamus will only serve to prolong the inevitability of change.
And I've got a gut feeling that Denji & Asa may come to accept this fact...
I’m wondering after all of the bulls**t Public Safety has done, I think that the Japanese Government is going to call for a purge to wipe out all members of Public Safety. And I think this anti prophecy thing is just a ruse so War, Famine and Control will take over command of the Devil Horde and rule all of Earth.
I think this is what death will end up being.
Not some mindless monster or Lich wannabe, but rather someone who KNOWS that messing with fate is a losing game and thus wants the best lives for the survivors.
She'll basically want Denji & Asa to try and salvage their reputations as much as they can before *letting the apocalypse go by,* so that even _IF_ they're seemingly "dead"... The idea of a Chainsaw Man & Asa Mitaka having existed once before could still give the surviving humans *a reason to keep going.*
In conclusion, *War & Chainsaw man will die as "heroes" and gain their own "beautiful deaths" (jumping out the windooooow-)*

Also, if Death is erased, devils will be way weaker. Considering that devils get power from human fear, and if you’re afraid of war, or Famine, it’s because they bring death. So Death, would most likely, be the main key in the “Devil Society” Because you’re afraid of chainsaws, because of the consequence it brings (Which in this case is death.) But I’m also curious on what Death did to earn so much hate from her younger sisters, to the point they want to erase her fully.
Killing Death would be a disaster as it would mean there is no death but aging, disease, pain, etc. Would continue on for all eternity with no end. There's also the overpopulation problem and if there is no death then wouldn't animals also be immortal? Along with plants and microorganisms then what exactly happens with eating then? I've thought about this since makima mentioned it in part 1 but getting rid of death would only make everything worse.

Only horsemen can remember what csm erased, in fact only makima and yoru remember nuclear weapons, ADIS, nazi, etc. Kishibe for example doesn't even know what nazi means, actually nobody does. There can be exceptions: the concept of war still exist because it's a horsemen, they can't just dissapear apparently, csm erased both makima and war but we still have nayuta and yoru, but they're way more weak than before because of that (war exist only in videogames or movies). Sayin "their names were erased by existence" doesn't mean in any way that just the fear is erased, not because of something, it's just wrong to interpret it like this. Imo it was just a cool way to refer to the devil itself, and to what the devil represent in that world
@samuelisaacdelacruzaguiler2489 The existence is erased when chainsaw man eats the devil. Makima said there used to be a star that made children go insane. There also used to be 4 or 5 other outcomes aside from death at the end of life, but chainsaw man erased them completely.

If you erase death, nobody would die. What happens when nobody die? Overpopulation. The population would keep growing and growing and growing resulting a decrease in supplies (food). People would begin to starve without the satisfaction of death therefore the fear of starvation would increase because people would fear the pain of constant starvation. This would result into FAMI being strong ASF. JUST A THEORY

I think contracting with the Fire Devil turns them into what they desire to be most. And since the Chainsaw Man church members want to be Chainsaw Man, it turns them into a version of that. Fire in this case probably represents something like desire or ambition rather than literal fire.

Makima was the Conquest Devil (Control), she died, but was not erased. Hence why we have Nayuta as her reincarnation, or the “new” control devil. So she was killed, not erased from existence.
Yeah, the whole plan is good and all, but it’s also kind of stupid as well. Because even if the whole of humanity fear chainsaw-man, and the war devil, people are going to still fear death. Because the fear of death isn’t something that goes away it’s built into every single living being on earth subconsciously. So this whole plan my unintentionally power up the death devil.

Pretty much. During the final arc of Part 2, Denji will use his Chainsaw Man Powers to weaken Death so she will be at a vulnerable state during the final arc of Part 3.

i don’t think there would specifically be an arc about that because denji hasn’t searched right now with all his time, he’s content with nayuta as of now and obviously still remember power, i’m not sure when we might get to see what he thinks about the whole “come and find me” request, maybe he just has no leads. anyways, if power comes back it’s going to be amidst chaos so maybe she comes back during this arc?
I also miss Power. Throughout part 2, I keep hoping she'll come back. However, she will probably be different. Her personality might be similar, but she won't have her memories and her body will be different.
I also kind of want to see Kishibe and Reze again.
Power will come back in a new body, probably Denji’s mom. And we will see Reze and Kobeni, during the final arc of Part 2.
