I feel like part 2 will essentially be Denji finding value in himself, rather than in being Chainsaw man. In part 1, Denji relied on Chainsaw man's power in order to make it through, and thus embraced being Chainsaw man. But at the end of part 1 it was Denji, not Chainsaw man that defeated Makima. I feel in part 2 Denji's arc is finding value in himself outside of being Chainsaw man, and that being Denji is just as great.
I mean denji is still a strong devil hunter without transforming into chainsaw man. So I think he won't always rely on chainsaw man when facing his enemies in the future.

That, or it's gonna end up with Denji abandoning both himself & Chainsaw Man, by faking his own death and factory-resetting his identity.

I think the whole of part 2 is leading up to Denji finally becoming independent from everything and making his own choices. His whole life he was conditioned to following the orders of people around him. I think with the build up of Fami and the chainsaw man church as well as public safety, denji is inevitably going to have to make a choice. However i think in this moment along with the stress that has built up in him, he will finally have enough and decide to go on his own path.

I think that on the ending of part 2 Denji and Nayuta going leave Japan and live their lifes on another country where the Security Public no reach them and Denji can to turn Chainsaw Man again after some time.
Denji just straight up leaves.
No joining either Public Safety or The Church.

Fumiko and Barem in this chapter are literally exemplifying the two types of CSM fans, which is people who are invested in Denji as a character and his growth throughout the story against people who only wants to see the crazy batshit fights like Part 1 used to. Fujimoto knows his readers so well that makes him put us in his writing as a mockery, lol. This is one of the reasons Fujimoto released a one-shot called "Just Listen to the Song" before Part 2 back then, to remind us to just enjoy the ride and be patient for the glorious days in Part 1 returns again. As always, let him cook!
I noticed that while reading too, and i really like the idea that Fumiko is supposed to represent the "Denji fans" that enjoy part 2 with all the Character moments we got for Denji and Barem represents the "Chainsaw man fans" that more or less hate the direction part 2 was going and want to have the old chainsaw man back.
We even got Fumiko literally telling us that she wants to save denji and not chainsaw man, and Barem countering that he is specifically a csm fan and wants to see csm fight, see him carving up devils, covered in gore and see him struggle and suffer and even getting killed just to rise once more

There's a twitter post I saw earlier today that rly showed Fumiko's intentions. Making Denji uncomfortable, violating him (sexually), humiliating him (by sitting on him and making him suck the devil) and now all of a sudden she says she understands him. It's like she's trying to build something up just to tear it down like how he tore her family apart. The post said it all seems like, and I quote, "pure resentment"...
I see where you are coming from, but from the stories that I have read by Fujimoto, no character is truly motivated by hatred and resentment (maybe I am wrong, please let me know). In general, I feel most of his characters are driven by what they love or obsess over. They might do terrible things as a result, but never straight up malicious. The only characters who I feel are like that is the caretaker in CSM2 and the mother in Goodbye Eri. Eri is a bit scummy if you believe what was said about her at the end. Anyways, interested to hear what you think.

The whole motivation of Agni from fire punch is about him trying to find and kill the person he hated the most...
She's trying to, as quoted by Radiohead "Reel me back, then you cut the string" similair to Makima.
She's trying to make Denji forming normal relationships seem impossible all over again.
This was an amazing chapter! I did not expect that deep and what appears to be genuine moment between Fumiko and Denji. The way she talked about the Gun Fiend incident honestly gave me chills, because to me it was by far the most tragic moment in part 1. Best part of the conversation was when she said she saw him cry at the end of that fight and realised that Chainsaw Man was just a fragile kid.
One thing I noticed was the fact that what is about to happen is a repeat of the Gun Fiend fight, mirroring the idea behind Denji having to take down Aki. Both then and now, the idea is that Denji does not want to fight, but he has to, and that in both situations people ask "him" to save them.
Back then he had to take down his own friend, and now, if he decides to save those people, a lot of them being children, then there's the real risk of losing Nayuta, just like he lost Aki.
This whole situation is a huge moment for Denji. Ever since the beginning of part 2, I had the feeling Denji would truly meet his death by the end of it. However, I'm inclined to say that he will survive this arc aswell.
I also love how unsettling and sinister Barem is as a character. We haven't had a character like him since part 1. Like yes, Yoshida and Fami are great, but Barem's lines and expressions just hit different. He adds a lot of spice to the story.
Fujimoto said he envisions Chainsaw Man in three parts. Can't have the Chainsaw without the Man.

What struck me the most about Fumiko in this chapter is how adult she felt, specially compared with her introduction. With that I feel like even though she’s playful, it’s just a front. So even if the way she treats Denji is weird, she has her reasons for doing it even if it’s not perfect.
Reminds me of Misato from Evangelion.
Oh yeah, and Fumiko is definitely fighting, it’s been ages since we seen a cool contract being used and there’s just too much set up for her.

Same thing happened in part 1. We were finally starting to track down the Gun Devil. Then Reze showed up and we had a massive 2 arc detour.

@@frenchfriedbagel7035 it's a pretty usual thing with fujimoto, come to think of it. In Fire Punch, you had the same kind of detour, quiet arc, but it took ~20 chapters iirc (i really liked it though)

I really enjoyed the insight into Mifune’s character in this chapter, she’s more than just a weird 22 year old touching a 17 year-old’s wiener, she had a life that was destroyed by the world of devils, specifically the gun fiend, and her mindset towards Denji is interesting.
Man, Fujimoto can't give us a break. It went from "Aww, thats nice" to "why would God and our Lord J.C let this men write something like this".
Read fire punch, us humans have been left on dial tone.
Nayuta just having fun was the highlight of the chapter for me

This is by far my favorite Chapter from Part 2, it's right up there with CH 116, (when they're stuck in the aquarium, and Denji gives Asa food.)
I love the point in stories where everything feels like it slows down and get's more personal. The converstation leading to her saying she's a Denji Fan and not a chainsaw man fan, it sounds so simple but it was really nice. I started to realize that I like her character, and am scared that if that was just her genuine feelings that she is up next on the chopping block, or the idea that she is planning to try and remove pochita like you said could be her motive.
What about the chapter with Denjis crapburger speech to Asa?
Nobody must stop Nayuta from having fun dammit and Barem that scum interrupting a great convo with Denji and Fumiko talking about how every woman who comes up to Denji hates him or RIP Fumiko's parents but at least she is a Denji Senpai fan and not a CSM fan plus just had to remind us of Aki again 😢
Nayuta is a dark horse here, bc if fujimoto really wanted to he could have her take control of the whole situation at some point negating the plan. Wondering if fummi has accounted for this. Also fummi told Asa to save red chainsaw man and kill the black one so I’m wandering if they intend to some how draw out pochita/blacksaw man here.

I feel like this Part of chainsaw man is Fujimoto literally telling us that he (Denji) is split from making a story about the more emotional tender moments with denji (denji fans) or the gore crazy action moments (Chainsaw Man church). Like this is just the struggle he as the creator is going through because S2 is so different from S1 and he knows the fanbase is split on what direction to go forward. Denji (Fugimoto) knows he can't have both....
To be honest I feel like Fujimoto has been using Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy as a loose blue print for his own. Denji in Part 2 is on the same struggle bus Peter was in Spider-man 2.

Denji turns into Black Chainsaw Man. Aka Pochita takes over. He kills the Demons and what Pochita always asked back? A hug, or at least something Denji wants. However, everytime he hugs someone they die, by accident.
What if he asks for a hug, needing to conclude his contract and allow Denji to return, and Fumiko, knowing the danger, still gives him one.
She dies. Denji returns. He is hugging her corpse.

I'm pretty sure the people who get killed by pochita chainsaw form aren't killed to give something back but because pochita tries hugging them.
I love fumiko now, her first interaction might be a shocker!! but still i think she's pretty nice girl. maybe she'll be accepting denji but i hope reze returns.. i don't think it's possible but i have hope left.
Reze is definitely alive and no longer controlled but chainsawman part 2 is really trying to move past all that so I doubt we will ever see her again.

I enjoy reading chainsaw man, I do, but there is no way in hell anyone can interpret the direction of this story, character motives, and predict it. Like, I hope there's a bigger picture to it all, but all these sub plots, side characters, and trivial dialogue would sometimes feel like there's zero context/purpose. I maybe speaking too soon, so if this turns out to be long running manga, then I retract my statements, but this story is lacking strong exposition. Will Denji find love? What is pochita really? Where's Kishibe and Kobeni? Who is Yoshida? End of the world talk, but no action? Returning weapon devils and Denji doesn't care or know who they are? I'm just saying there's a lot of unanswered questions for narrative purposes.
Is Kobeni’s whereabouts at all important? Her character is done she wasn’t even planned to have lived the first part

@@maniac7302 I’m not so sure you can say she wasn’t planning making it through part 1 because you’re not writing this story, but you’re right in questioning her importance. She’s important enough to have a relative who’s involved in part 2, so we should be seeing the return of kobeni and a reveal of her contract(if she even has one). Kishibe being busy is fair. Describing Yoshida like that is painfully dull as he’s a top 3 contender for most interesting characters of part 2. And Denji going unconscious during the fight with the weapons is fair too, but denjis and sword man interaction left a lot to be desired. I like Fujimotos story telling and character dialogue more than you would think, but god I wish he would just start telling us about this story. If he wants to make his whole narrative ambiguous, then more power to him, but I believe he’s already hit a level of depth with his world building and characters and should start filling that hole with information. I’ll probably have to retract my statement once the plot develops further.

In my opinion i dont think there is a clear good and bad side to this. Fumiko might just be doing this so the organisation can control denji and chainsaw man while barem could be telling him to stay as chainsaw man so the chainsaw man church can hold a larger power to reach whatever their goal is. The ulterior motives that both sides have and the facade they play whether intentionally or not really makes it feel like there is no good option to denjis chainsaw man problem.
Part 1 was about Chainsawman. Part 2 is about Denji

I reckon he'll turn into csm, save the people, Nayuta is captured and then Mifune argues with Yoshida saying if they kill Nayuta Denji has nothing else to live for and will just be chainsaw man anyway and Yoshida complies and gives Nayuta back but do smth else to fuck with him, maybe threaten Asa?
Also random thought but if, and I doubt they will, kill of Nayuta at some point (wouldn't make sense to do it now) Denji would I think be chainsaw man and embrace it and tell the world he's chainsaw man and he'll suicidally throw him at devils and Barem will eat popcorn and enjoy the show.
As much as we can search for deeper meaning behind all of part 2 (e.g. denjis development and internal struggle)...
For me it's just not entertaining!
I guess for my taste there ist too little lore, worldbuilding, any big consequences and no characters to really deeply care about (except for Denji).

I don't like part 2 because it feels empty, i felt really invested on the part 1 characters but i feel nothing towards the new ones, that is mostly making this part boring for me, it has a lot of dialogue, i wouldn't complain if i liked the characters but iris wariris(adding more info) I don't even remember the new character games, i just remember nayuta and asa mitaka

In Japan sexual consent is below 17 despite her considerating him as a kid. Calling him a kid doesn't have to mean she actually thinks he is a child. For example, Batman once called himself a kid with issues but that doesn't mean he is a kid on the inside or outside, the moment that defines him is when his parents got murdered and that changed his life forever, still having to deal with that inside conflit since then.
While she is still super suspicious I belive she already knew touching him wouldn't be so bad since it's something he clearly wants and something she definatly could take advantage of, he didn't saw that as harassment before, only after the karaoke thing he wasn't ok with it.

It's almost like the moment the incel main character is side lined (preventing the majority of the fan base from self inserting "that's legit me!"), and the narrative has to survive without that crutch of warrantless fan support due to being "legit them", it becomes boring and painful to read. Almost like the entire time it has been complete trash but now you realize it when you can't distract yourself from how bad it is pretending to be the main character.

A classic illogical mood shift highlighted in your video is the fact the character in question saw the entire fight and somehow didn't die from collateral damage, built up resentment for devil's due to her family being killed instead nope she just hates the guy who was clearly against the devil, and then also while grieving has a complex thought about how hard it must be "for him". This is a plot point that makes sense if you never speak to women or you have no idea how motivation/resentment works.
This editing is weird af it feels like a comedy but its not a comedy...
Yeah, the scene cuts mid conversation and feels a bit more off than usual.
