Not believing that people read leaks cuz the main translation is bad is kinda crazy considering John werry has given translations so bad it’s literal misinformation happening every couple chapters or so
Literally, jjk is notoriously hard to translate even for native speakers you have to really really be interested in the manga AND good at translating things. I follow like 3 different translators and befriended one just to get the understanding that i have today 😭😭 so people not reading officials makes sense lol

Can’t lie agree with most the points and the only thing I really have to say is the reason there’s no hype for official release is because tcb translations tend to be infinitely better to a comical degree to where you would start to think the official is the fan translation and so the hype of a official chapter release instead goes to when the tcb scanlations drop because they seem to be more accurate half the time.
Yeah it's why I have no drive to really even collect the English volumes, the first translator is in prison now, and John Werry tends to just be wrong sometimes it's so strange

Honestly fair video but I just want to say that Yuji, throughout the course of the manga, has become one of my favorite main characters. He tries so hard and sometimes he's so out of his depth that I can't help but to root for him and want him to succeed, which I think is really hard for a main character to do

I completely agree about the annoyance of leaking. I love getting big reveals by waiting for the actual weekly release, but now I just wake up everyday to the entire chapter summarised by people on twitter and kills any hype for me on the next chapter

Leaks are honestly a very prominent issue with JJK, people are a literally addicted to this story to the point in which they are doing anything they can just to see it early. The official translations have their issues, sometimes they do well but other times they are absolutely disappointing. Because I want a better understanding of the story, I'll often read the official and the fan translations specially with all the complexities that Gege brings to his story.
The official translations are literally worse than the leaks though. TCB scans are the way to go

The more prominent issue would be people spoiling for everyone else. I can't even go into a subreddit for another series without someone spoiling the new JJK chapter. There's seems to be a lack of impulse control for some people
Good to see another upload from you. I read the JJK chapter the other day and I’m glad to see Yuji and Todo teaming up against Sukuna. They gave him the work and it’s possible that we’re gonna see the return of another known character that gave Sukuna the work.
Also, I’m glad I don’t follow any of the leaks cuz I read it whenever I see it’s dropped and don’t stay online to know what’s going on.
Totally agree with the leak culture, it’s so bad that people leak everywhere outside of reddit or twitter or whatever… I read leaks, early translation and official translation which helps me understand better the original meaning and intent. The John werry translations for viz have been consistently wrong, and he’s even had to fix his mistakes later on down the line so I learned I can’t trust them. This is backed by many Japanese native speakers.
Also re the rotation of characters and how it feels weird, I think it was the plan all along for JJK high. Each chapter shows this wasn’t randomly put together by the team, everyone is strategic in the battle against Sukuna to the point that people like yuji didn’t even know the whole plan cause he could ruin it by his soul link with Sukuna, and him possibly reading his thoughts.
My opinion, they’re trying to overwhelm Sukuna with as many binding vows as possible to make him mess up on his own, and we’ve yet to see what happens when you mess up a binding vow but Kenny suggests it’s catastrophic consequences… any maybe that’s why the goat is back.
All part of a bigger plan, which goes back to your idea of reading it all together might be better and clearer what is happening.

Honestly folks really put wayyyy to much on Gojo returning as some sort of bad thing or saying that it trivializes other characters. Hearing the same argument from different people can get a little stale.

Hell if anything Gege's damn near given Sukuna hella outs that added to some of the B's outs he's gotten. Had it not been for the over use of binding vows Sukuna would be in hella trouble as well as that potential residence between him and Yuji
@@ShadeThaArtist no it really doesn’t considering the author clearly wrote most of the students including the main character with the intention of just being a back up plan not to mention the main characters awakening went nowhere he has no counter to the domain expansion nothing that could actually bring it down not to mention his soul punches aren’t really doing anything and he’s not really out muscling the villain your character who’s the hero is only as good as the villain and when you have an overpowered main villain and an under powered main character who’s trying to play catch-up! and is still struggling yet his teacher can pretty much work as the perfect counter and is equal in strength with him you kind of set this very high bar in standard to where realistically speaking none of the students or the main character could reach so there was no potential to crush considering yuji has no higher potential as Gojo said he’s only swinging for the fences

This might sound weird but it’s way different for me usually when the leaks come out the next 2 days the official chapters come out and I still get hyped about it and I will admit the leaks do get annoying from time to time

To be fair the official translation is so mediocre that leakers often do a better job. Not because they are amazing translators, its just that the official translation set the bar so low, people rushing to make a translation asap to post on twitter often make it better.

I feel exactly the same. Imo jjk is at its best when you can binge it. The pacing feels kinda wonky on a weekly basid, and leaks make it very hard for me to stay off JJK long enough. They are impossible to avoid, so Ive just resigned myself to stay up to date until the story ends.
I agree the leaks ruin the experience of reading the series imo, But to say the translations arent a huge chunk of the issue is funny. That man john werry is taking the series up through there with the officials ngl. I personally need to follow 3 different translators and compare them to officials just to get a solid understanding on whats going on, The series is hard to translate for even native speakers of the language, you have to really care about it and almost be gege himself lol
I agree that if it is gojo it does cheapen what everyone else’s role, but that’s only if he comes back to finish Sukuna off. If it is Gojo and he comes back in a supporting role via a binding vow that severely nerfs him but makes him helpful in the fight then I think it can be done well.
Too bad none of that happened and the character still ended up getting more cheapen Than anybody could’ve possibly wanted

I agree with your point. The leaks and their inaccuracy hurts the overall story. You got people who don’t even know what the story is about at this point and creating whole narratives based on mistranslations. Impactful moments are ruined by 4 different translations.
All of this sucks because i think the story is still good when you remove the weekly leak circus.
I would like you to actually read the official translations.

But literally 2 days before I need to log off Twitter and lately Im getting spoiled on fking YT main page, like in titles and minis. The only series I read scans for is One Piece and wait for official release for everything else. But yeah, the leaks are still really bad all around, especially for this latest chapter and anytime any big turn of events happen or something. in the past I also tried to avoid them, so I could experience the story in the intended way, but the whole time I just felt like I was tricking myself because id be waiting for something to come out even though its kind of out already
I also realised thats the same reason as for why I read the manga instead of waiting for another season of the anime

Yeah I agree about the leaks. I HATE creators are pushing leaks on video titles and thumbnails on their videos. So now you don’t even have to follow or click on the actual video. You’ll just have leaks showing up on your feed. All for the clicks and views. I hope it’s worth it for them.
Leaks have been happening for manga releases for forever however I’ve never seen it be as bad as it is with JJK.

I'm 100% with you on the insufferable leak culture of JJK. I HAAAAATE the quality of the leaks but I'm absolutely forced to read them because if I don't I'll get spoiled.
Thing that scares me now is that the guy that is at the forefront of the JJK leaks and is by far the biggest account doing it is now showing strong interest in Kagurabachi, my fear is that once he's done with JJK he'll move on to Kagurabachi next, and with its current popularity and everyone looking to it as shonen jumps next big thing, it could lead to it becoming the next JJK in the leak culture regard
Leaks are why I made alt accounts that don't touch anime/manga content at all. Once it's Wednesday, I'm using them until after I read the chapter on Thursday/Friday. It's a pain but it's worked so far. 😅
I think the apparition might be related to Yaga and Gakuganji's story earlier on. Yaga passed on the secret behind his technique to Gakuganji back then and I think that'll be relevant. But I don't think "that character" will return in anywhere near the same capacity of ability and will serve as a distraction in that moment for Yuji to do his thing.
Fully agreed with you on the leaker culture for JJK though. It is awful. I gave up eventually because I couldn't avoid spoilers entirely and started reading the fan scans. I still do my best to avoid the leaks but it's too difficult to 100% of the time. You'll be scrolling Twitter and get hit with a spoiler. At the very least I still make sure I read the officials every Sunday.
I was actually celebrating when one of the prominent leakers got busted because One Piece and JJK have been getting leaked like 5 days early.

I do read leaks every time they come out, but I also read them on the Shonen Jump app every time they are released and I buy the physical copies of the manga :) I honestly perfer the tcb translations but i want to support Gege in any way I can and I just love JJK lol
I can't complain about leaks cuz the leaks aren't doing anything big like if the story is a great mystery thriller type and someone leaks something about it then it spoils the fun
But here in this bland series filled with fights and predictable fights at that there's nothing to be spoiled atleast it doesn't affect my enjoyment reading jjk as I'm just reading it for action (there's nothing else in the series anyway) but I'm enjoying the action so when I see some leaks it hypes me up sometimes
I never wanted to read leaks for any manga, but its so hard to be on the internet and NOT read leaks just to simply get ahead of the crowd. I rather see the raws and rough translations for myself FIRST before I get spoiled from some UA-cam thumbnail. It fucking sucks, but its just the way it is.
I love spoiler so I love leaks but I still read the official translation every release and fanlations. I do feel bad for the people that dont want leaks or spoilers.The official translation confuses me regularly and almost everytime i read the fanlation it clears stuff up instantly.

instead of myamura leaking the raws with inaccurate translations, it would be better to just wait for the official fan translations and compare it to the officials once they do come out. That way we get 2 translations since John Werry does suck

I will for sure say that reading weekly the fight with Sukuna began to feel really repetitive. It sort of became a cycle of “new opponent enters the fight, does some impressive damage to Sukuna, Sukuna hates on Yuji, and then cleaves the new character.” And that got very frustrating week after week. Maybe a binge read would change that, hopefully.
Also my biggest fear is that gege never acknowledges plot points and questions we still don’t have answers for before the series ends and he’ll be exposed as someone who just makes good action manga. Which would be fine but I feel like half his base will feel some type of way about it.
I was an anime only person with JJK up until towards the end of season 2. The leaks were getting out of control and I was getting major spoilers. Plus, I was enjoying the story and wanted to get further. I didn't want to wait. I'm now caught up and still getting spoiled on the next chapter. Why can't people at least put a fucking spoiler warning? This last arc with Sukuna has been one of the weakest parts of the story for me, although I still like it somewhat. The most recent chapter was pretty exciting. The chapter before would have been more hype for me, but I was spoiled and didn't get to have that experience of turning the page and being surprised. It reminds me of watching a movie or show with my dad, who likes to constantly say minor (and occasionally major) spoilers as we're watching, or he'll say something that's vague, but still spoils things a bit.

Leaks are awful in terms of money that the actual writer will get is low but reading it illegally is the same thing the reason why I don’t hate leaks is bc when I read em on twitter on Mya page it’s like a mini community coming together the tension you get when each page is leaked one at a time and going through the comments seeing everyone’s reactions and memes is an exciting experience.
If you actually think the official translation is done well then lmao you are not reading the same story as we are. There's entire elements that have been changed in the official version because the translator doesn't research or even reads the story, he just translates and is done for the day.

Feels like a pretty ridiculous take friendo. The reason the leaks are so rampant is because they are translated infinitely better than the official releases (note that day 1 leaks are not the same as fully translated leaks). That ain't fans fault they want to get accurate translations and the vast majority of people aren't sitting around looking to ruin your JJK experience. Though you seem alright with ruining theirs.
If you don't want to hear spoilers on social media, block terms associated with it from appearing in your feed. But it is kind of a crazy thing to assert that people should just stop talking about an ongoing series because you keep catching strays on SOCIAL MEDIA.

Getting spoon fed the events leading up to the Gojo fight (Yuji’s training arc) in flashbacks is so goddamn frustrating. It’s typically done at the start of each chapter breaking the fight momentum, and makes important plot feel like an afterthought
It was fine before but after gojo's death in 236 the leakers have become a pain.

I agree theres a big issue with how JJK leaks are handled and what it does for the hype of the series, but i disagree with the idea that the official translations aren't a big part of the issue. The official viz translator for JJK unfortunately consistently makes mistakes and mistranslates so I, along with many others, prefer to read other translations. I'd be okay with the leaks disappearing entirely if we could count on a decent translation from the official source.
Don’t entirely agree with everything you said at least in the leaking department, you seem to have an understanding of someone who observes the leaking community from a distance rather than actually knowing about it.
Case and point the “there’s no discussion when the official chapters drop.” While this is technically true, if you were in the loop you would know and address that TCB (fan scanlators) drop high quality scan of the chapter basically the day after that are basically identical to the chapter in terms of image quality minus the terrible translation - which btw is objectively terrible no matter what you want to believe, there have been several videos made on this, the translator is notorious for ruining mangas throughout other communities as well.
So yes there isn’t discussion when viz drops however you can still enjoy the chapter in the exact same non-leak quality early and talk about it like everyone else on twitter while enjoying an interpretation that respects the original authors work more. I say this as someone who’s personally still subscribed to jump and views the chapters anyways.
As far as the midnight low res leaks, I would agree on the whole “it’s bad for your viewing experience” if you were singling out a leaker in particular and not speaking on a general basis. Myamura, who has the highest quality scans and the one who popularised it, has a viewing experience that’s just as enjoyable as the official release, with how he drops the panels in 5-10 minute intervals with translations, usually engages discussion with the rest of the community of which they’re tens of thousands showing up for it, doesn’t expose reveals to the end- regardless if this ulterior motive angle you’re talking about is true or not he just genuinely makes it entertaining and fun. It’s very hard to communicate this to someone who has never attended a leak night alongside the rest of the community, speaking as someone who used to feel the same way too. Just show up for one and you’ll see what I’m talking about.
I will agree though the JJK community hasn’t done a good job at keeping discussions insular within people who consume leaks, but that’s really a byproduct of it being so popular I guess. Tbh I don’t know if it’s a fair point to say that they need to accommodate people who don’t consume leaks more because really you’re the minority at this point as far as I can tell. To put it into perspective the Myamura gets millions of impressions on each panel within an hour, tens of thousands of likes when he drops them at 2 am est with over 700k followers - again if you’re not in the loop you really wouldn’t understand how big it is but it’s kinda just expected at that point. Overall agree with your thoughts as per usual though regarding the story as of late
The person who is most likely to be equal to the ghost you're talking about is Yuji. He was also set up as capable of surpassing Gojo but he's the only one set up to rival Sukuna with his potential. Yuji will eat the six eyes and become the undisputable strongest in the series after a round two with Sukuna with both at full health
How tf could he eat six eyes when he's been fight the whole time against Sukuna? More likely to be Yuta who had been gone.

Also Yuji could easily TP back to the six eyes and eat them. I more had in mind Sukuna winning but leaving Yuji alive to torment him but Yuji gets on his level for round 2 after eating the six eyes

only thing i hate is constantly killing off characters, like bruh that does not MAKE a story good unless theres reason and idgaf if its cuz sukunas overpowered, thats not a reason
I agree and disagree on your point about the rest of the cast having a viable way to stack up against Sukuna even tho they are weaker. Gege set it up perfectly with Gojo removing Sukunas domain, Mahoraga, lowering his CE and RCT output. Gojo is the only person able to challenge a full health Sukuna in the series and he tore open a path for his allies. Then Yuji is lowering Sukunas output and bodily functions with each hit keeping Yuji as a cage against Sukuna. Plus any damage Sukuna takes only weakens him further. All of this is ruined by Sukuna apparently not trying
Yuji and Yuta jump the shit out of Sukuna but immediatly after Yuta is cut in two we're told Sukuna wasn't taking it seriously. We have a no heart, ridicolously low output and weakened bodily function Sukuna PERCEPTION BLITZING Maki. Any sense of seriousness in the good guys attacks is removed since Sukuna can just no diff them if he felt like it. Sukuna should be physically faster, stronger and tougher even in this weakened state but he should still be challenged. I blame Gege not giving Kenjaku a proper fight. Gege wants to show off what everyone can do so he needs Sukuna to stay standing. If the good guys were more divided theres a lot less pressure on Sukuna to be the casts punching bag and you can have people pose a legitimate threat to Sukuna with their abilities
To play devil's advocate, I wouldn't mind Gojo returning in some way simply because his death was the most poorly handled I've seen in manga since maybe Madara's death at the hands of Zetsu.

I started reading the leaks because I was tired of being spoiled. The constant thumbnails that spoil important events in chapters on UA-cam just made me give in. And there's no way of avoiding it because people really want those few extra likes and they would do anything to get it. I wish the leaking community would be more respectful and considerate of people that want to enjoy the series without being spoiled.
Waiting to binge is probably a good idea for most fans. But I’ve been quite enjoying letting gege cook. Say what you will but JJK is a very unpredictable manga and that’s refreshing

I completely agree bringing back that guy will honestly makes this fight not fun anymore. I want more Yuji and Sukuna story and not that guy again. Especially after Choso death. If hes back, its gonna ruin the tension of this fight. And honestly I want this fight to be ended by Yuji because of the theme.

Not keeping up but from the stuff I involuntarily see, this last fight has been a big, fun banger. Never doubted Gege could bring a hype conclusion; he always comes correct with a climax.
