I'm crying my eyes out. I needed this. I'm trying to have a healthier lifestyle because diabetes and high blood pressure runs in the family. Plus I have an anxiety disorder. I went to a doctor on Friday and she basically judged me because I'm not fast enough in losing weight (I started a new diet with a Profesional nutritionist, I'm in my 3rd month) and the way she said made me feel so bad, I've been in a terrible mood for the last few days. Feeling guilt about what I eat, if I get hungry, watching everything I eat in an unhealthy way. I talked with my nutritionist about this and she calmed me down, but I was still anxious. And watching this just made me burst into tears. Thank you for teaching in such a kind and empathetic way.

I like calorie counting but i get how it may not be the best for everyone. I don't eat alot, I have mental illnesses that sometimes when I'm in a crisis I don't feel hungry for days (So I can't do intuitively eating or follow my hunger), which leads me to passing out. amd I also feel very nauseous all the time because of my tumor treatment (which also doesn't make me want to eat) , so I started calorie counting so I can meet my daily calorie count. (so it's not about restrictions for me). I don't force myself to eat or not eat. In the beginning I just observed, and my daily calorie intake to maintain weight is 1500 (I weight 121 now), and I noticed that some days I had as little as 600 calories. And now when I meet my calorie count for a meal I feel happy! I have an app called Lifesum, it's much more focused on health then calories.

You can do this. I'm 61, and started this maybe a little over a week ago as well. I should have kept track. But I not only knew it was something I knew I needed to do for health reasons, but I wanted to feel better. It has taken me a long time to reach this place of wanting to.....but now that I am here....I am so thankful I am. It's a mind set just like she said. Don't think about having to do it, but wanting to do it to make yourself better and stronger. You can do this. 😊 keep at it.

I am 60 and I ate like crap most of my life, I recently had a stroke because of it. I gave up bread, eggs, all prepared frozen food, no salt, I only drink water. I have minimal cheese, zero sweets except 75% dark chocolate. I spent 53.00 yesterday at Aldi on nuts, grains, vegetables, fruits, dark chocolate. I went from 235ish to 195lbs in a few months without exercise. Everyone knows how important healthy eating is. But, it really hits home when you have a health issue.
PS) stick with it, the cravings do diminish!

      Hi there,
How are you? I am sorry to hear about your blood test results. If you do not mind me sharing; a well-planned, organic and unrefined plant-based diet (consuming edible raw plant foods where possible so as not to denature or destroy the life-forces and enzymatic activities beneficial to the human system. If disagreeing on this matter, please try planting some steamed carrots and see if they will grow; if they fail to, it is because they are 'dead' plant food that cannot fully nourish one's 'living' cells) consisting of organic fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, seeds and whole grains is the best diet to provide mankind with ultimate health and longevity. These foods, fresh and grown in rich soil, are found all the essential vitamins, calcium, carbohydrates, fats, fibre, minerals, protein and water needed to make good blood and enjoy health.
Please avoid meat alternatives that contain harmful preservatives and additives e.g vinegar, a corrosive agent. Food toxicity and nutrient deficiency (e.g white bread, white rice and white sugar) are a deadly combination as one is hindering the body's building materials needed to action healing whilst at the same time taxing the system with more toxic things, thus bringing about disease and possibly even an early death.

You make is so easy:) I love the point about the brain and the 'all or nothing' mentality; good habits happen over time with practice, not overnight. Also, we don't need to be *on* a diet - need to strive for a healthy diet in general. Like you say, it's a lifestyle shift. It's kind of like, if I feel overwhelmed because the house is a mess. It really is easier doing a little at a time, maybe one or two rooms, rather than thinking I have to work myself to the bone to get it all sparkling top to bottom - a little at a time, until it becomes easier to keep it managed.

I'm so happy to see you post this video because it only affirms the ideas and principles I'm trying to live by. I feel better overall to understand my my body and how it works based on the lifestyle I live. I love grocery shopping now. I love to read labels and discern whether that is something I want to put in my body or not...I love buying lots of whole foods and seeing my dishes have so much "color"! Calorie and macro counting has been transformational for me. I am not limited in any way, shape of form, and know exactly what I'm eating. I've lost 20 pounds, no longer over-eat, and have learnt portion control.
A lot of things I used to eat suddenly stepped into the light as not being very good.
You just have to have balance. Have a takeaway every now and again, or treat yourself to days where you don't count at all.

Hi Dani! Thank you for doing this video. I love love it. It felt like you came to all of our homes and sat down on a couch with us and gave us a little talk. The tips are wonderful and if I may say I felt that it wasn't all tips some felt like encouragement and hi guys I just popped to say hi. But the way that someone does if I may say a friend does when they know that you are trying to do something or that you're going through a life change. I'm sorry this post is long I'm going to end it with I really appreciate how you focused towards the end on the whole emotional side of things. And I really found it so informative the example that you gave of that you can be eating something healthy but if you have toxic thinking that can affect you adversely and if you're eating something that maybe isn't the healthiest but you're feeling surrounded by love and happiness and your family and in side it's bringing out so many good things that that also affects your body. And I know it goes unsaid to eat these things in moderation. Thank you so much Dani for everything that you do for the wonderful recipes that you show that are so simple well actually they're not simple because they create delicious things that taste like they have all these ingredients that are not good for our bodies but they are just as delicious and sometimes I find they're more delicious. But I really appreciate it and I am so happy to have found your page. Again sorry for the long post but I really enjoyed this UA-cam post that you sat down and made. I do believe that when you decide to eat clean that it is not a diet in the sense of oh you know this is how I'm going to lose weight it is a lifestyle change. Thank you again XO

So true with explanation at the end. I started eating healthier when my son was a year old that was 21 years ago. Since then, I have gradually transitioned over to eating a healthier diet. I look at it as a Journey because that is what it is. Not a diet but a lifestyle change that is for life, taking it one day at a time and replacing the bad foods with something healthier. Fast forward to today, 18 years later (3 years ago), I gave up processed sugars. I liked my sweets. I still enjoy sweets but I am very careful about foods that have processed sugar in the foods. I am careful to read the labels and if I see "sugar" as an ingredient, I will not buy it. I gave up sodas a long, long time ago. Water is my primary drink.
