@DenversElqanah It depends. Some best buy loyalty programs have points from when you buy things you can swap for gift cards so I know they used that to help buy them.
I found a demo of Quest 3 at Best Buy... the controller seemed to have the regular squeeze motion, then a slight squish at the bottom out. Apparently this "squish" pressure is measured for use in experiences.
Yeah its to crush stuff in your hand and stuff for example like the index. But i could see this wearing out fast and end up always activating thay function

I think for me anyway; the smaller storage is gonna be just fine for awhile if not the lifespan of the quest 3 as I mostly use my headset as a wireless PCVR headset and only get quest exclusive games every so often. After the storage gets filled I could easily uninstall older games I already beat or stopped playing for new exclusives. Also thanks for answering our questions.
Exactly how I do it with my Q2 rn. Lot of games I could uninstall and reinstall, but also keep multiplayer games with friends, but even then we won’t play them for a while. I think 128GB is worth it, unless you don’t want to worry about storage and just pile up your games for easy use or record LOTS of gameplay. Depends on one person 🤷♂️. It helps a ton that VR games aren’t that big in size like flatscreen games…yet.

Games such as Breachers will definitely be the same, by the looks of it for fairness from all platforms. Even I’m on the fence, but I also don’t mind deleting and reinstalling. I have 256 gb quest 2 and I didn't even use half the storage. Granted I didn't buy tons of high storage games and am not playing super often. Still kind of on the fence for quest 3 storage but I'm leaning towards 128 gb. I just wish there was a 256 gb option
Red Matter 2 changed from 5.6GB to 9.1GB in size between Quest 2 and Quest 3. So a 128GB Quest 3 can store the Experience of about 12+ Red Matter 2. If guess if you are more than a casual user, you should go for the 512GB Version.
Dont see the point of having 50 games installed when you only really play 2-4 at any given time. I still get along fine with the 64gb Quest 2, and theres only been one game that was between 30-40gb . 128 will be just fine

Thanks for the useful coverage, JayBratt! My plan is to wait for reviews on the controller tracking and if it looks great I'll run out and buy it day 1~ish. I owned my Quest 2 for just about a year and my games and other media almost fill up the 128GB I have with it. If we assume Quest 3 will be good for about 3 years and the games also getting slightly bigger I figured I'd go for 512GB. Also getting free strap and wait for BoboVR M3 which should be out pretty soon.
I fully support these decisions! I'll have a more in depth look out by the time you can make a decision too! Controller tracking is top of my list for testing!
The rings on the "old" quest two controllers saved my knuckles many times... why is removing them is being passed off as a positive? Like for me they had no negatives? Can you use quest 2 controllers on a quest 3?
Because it is... why would you wanna go backwards, I feel like I got more accidents with the rings. I cut fingers slapping the rings across my hand. Not on person thats use these or the quest pro controllers have had problems. They only say it's a major upgrade.

I just preordered my quest 3 no warranty at Best Buy while watching this video. I’m looking forward to getting it on Tuesday. I have really enjoyed my Quest 2 and am hoping the AR features get me using VR even more. I’ll probably end up adding aftermarket external batteries and more comfortable headset.
The Rift S headstrap is superieror to the Quest of any model. The ratcheting tighten mechanism on the back is amazing. I hope there are some decent after market options for the Quest 3.
Funny thing: That strap was designed by Lenovo who had bought the license from the original PSVR strap and that was what the design was based off of. Psvr was the most comfortable headset I've ever owned and second place goes to Rift S. The BoboVR Halo style strap is coming to Quest 3 though: ua-cam.com/video/rlC_vr8EwXs/v-deo.html

VRChat did increase specs for quest 2 it depends on user count as there was way lest quest 1 users. Worlds are technically not limited as much and frame rate is only limit and hard unity + hardware limits, main limits are with avatars which are pretty strict.
I love that trigger in PSVR2 games... but not so much on flat PS5 games. It can be distracting on the flat games but in VR it really adds to it! @@cagethelonewolf

i went with the 512 gb version cuz i dont plan on repurchasing a quest 3 to get the more storage and i usually prefer to keep most games installed until i don't play them anymore

Same haptics as Quest Pro. The Touch Pro NEVER mentioned this. Although the Touch Plus (Q3) only showed this on screen in the presentation and no one has addressed what it means.
Great video! Which the only official Meta accessory I got was the active straps as the 3rd party ones are less elegant and only $10 cheaper. And the strap may be made out of a similar material tio the Samsung watch trail loop strap which is also $40 and is worth that over $10 straps.... Which mainly why I'm getting the Meta quest 3 day one is I rarely get consoles day 1 and yeah I figured the sales won't happen any time soon.
Another good question is the Quest 3 controllers gonna be backwards compatible to the Quest 2 because people may use them to upgrade/replace said Quest 2 controllers
The one time I had an issue was with the Quest 1 not charging correctly, and Oculus replaced the whole headset with a brand new one the same day they received my original headset, including providing a prepaid shipping label. Took about a week from dropping off my box to receiving the new one.
The two stage trigger means that clicking the trigger once and holding it down harder can be registered as two separate inputs, for example, if you are holding an item you could press the trigger once to hold it, and hold it down harder to break it.
Thanks for the info! I'm really hyped for this headset. I pre-ordered the 512 version because I didn't want to worry about space. If Meta doesn't add eye tracking on Quest 4, I most likely won't be upgrading in 2-3 years, so I wanted to be future proof.

I've never bought a quest headset. Is it possible to plug in the controllers or headset and charge it? Is there a way to purchase more storage without purchasing an entirely different headset? I was planning on buying it since it releases on my birthday but now I'm rethinking. I have a ps5 but i don't want psvr because it's wired and it won't be able to download mods. But now im not sure what to do.

Consider the elite strap of the quest 2 i'd wait for a good, comfortable strap like bobovr or the kiwi one i forgot the name of. I don't think the elite strap can beat them honestly
I have the Quest 2 512 GB. I play for an hour to two hours plus! I love it. So disappointing about the battery. The new one looks so lightweight compared to the 2. I bought a new strap. I’m holding off on the replacement just because of money😂. Santa needs to drop one at my house.
I was lucky to win the Q2 lottery and I got amazing lenses. No blurryness, no godrays, no dead pixels, no light blurs, they were perfect. And because of that, I am terrified that I will lose the lottery this time with Q3... please, let me get a good headset 😭 I don't want to go through the hassel of returning it 😭
What are you thoughts about the Quest 3’s MR opening the door to MR boardgames. Demeo was a great first step in that direction, but I would like to see classic boardgames like Axis and Allies or Risk have reimagining in Mixed Reality. Mixed Reality strategy boardgames like the aforementioned examples could have a game changing mechanic added that so far only RTS and TBS PC games have had; that mechanic… Fog of War. Really, think about what having unique map/board views would open up in boardgames machines. A group of people could play into IRL, in the same room, have the same map/board, but have unique Fog of War prospectives. Thats huge. Fog of War is in no small part what made StarCraft and Civilization the respective RTS and TBS games that they are. And that just ONE additional mechanic added to boardgames that only Mixed Reality could add. Imagine all the other video game mechanics that could be blended with traditional boardgame mechanics. This is where I see the near future of MR really shining.
Hi Jay! Can you speak more on the Quest 3 lens quality? This is perhaps due to a phenomenon called IPS glow, where you get a brownish haze in the periphery or corners of the lenses when in dark scenes. It is not clear if it is a problem with the panels, the lenses or both combined. It seems that some people had this worse than others on Quest Pro and Meta exchanged their HMD's. I was unlucky with my Quest 2 and had to return three headsets before I got a one without lens defects. I don't want to go through that again.
I personally am going to wait to see if they develop a middle level of memory. My Quest 2 is still working great. The cost difference is roughly $150 then add in charging dock and the rift strap I prefer and it be close to $1,000. Unfortunately I'm not rich lol. Thanks again for another great video!
My concern is accessories for the contoller. I play golf and cricket with a beat saber handle. So new ones will need to come out that can connect to the new ones.
How advanced is the quest 3 controller haptics? For example, if you were holding a gun in Pavlov, can you actually feel the weight of the gun and the materials that make up the gun like feeling the metal it's made out of? Another example could be if you were pulling back a bow, can you actually feel the bow string and its pressure? Or is it more of a ps4 rumble type of thing?
Does anybody remember the HoloLens Minecraft AR demo back in 2015? Imagine it was revived on Quest 3. I can’t stop thinking about it after seeing all the Quest 3 MR content.
When it comes to the headstrap I will be getting the Elite Strap with Battery until BoboVR releases their own Elite Style headstrap or a upgrade kit for the M1. Unfortunately the M2 where it sits on my head causes headaches so I'm stuck needing an Elite Style (Which really does suck because Halo Straps are amazing and everyone of my friends with a quest 2 had the M2.)
In EU that's transferrable right? I believe here a lot of them are not so you just lose the years potentially. There's some ways around it of course but not all transfer.
I'll be honest, I only use the Quest 2 for MSFS 2020, DCS, and sometimes F1 PC games so I don't see myself ever needing more than 128GB for the VR since nothing really lives in it.

Will Quest 2 games be up-detailed on the Quest 3 stand alone? Quest 2 stand alone games were dumbed down a lot from PCVR to Quest 2 stand alone. Details were missing, shadows simpler, or missing, entire copses of trees deleted, etc..
When I get a quest 3 and sign into it, will all my files and stuff be on there. For example I have side quest on my oculus quest 2 when I sign into my oculus quest 3 will I have to re download side quest and all side quest games again or will it automatically be on there?
Most things will need to be redownloaded. You will still own any games you bought but the headset won't have them pre installed or any files that aren't cloud saved. It's a lot like upgrading your phone.
Never had a standalone VR headset - will you be able to store Quest 2 and 3 games on PC and run them wirelessly via WiFi? If so, the 128GB should be more than enough, right?

two way trigger i think means that theres to diffrent stages stage on is when you havent fully pressed it down in a game it might show you putting your finger on a trigger and pressing it full will make your weapon fire or letting whatever else for short it has 2 stages of animation one not fully pressing on fully pressing it increases immersion by a lot actully also its on the psvr2
It might be mechanical thing as oculus got touch sensing and analog pressure detection since first rift and also could do touching and pressure animation too, it's nothing new
Must admit, after having IPS bleed / lightbleed so bad on my first quest pro that it made me feel like I had cataracts whenever I was in a dark scene (I returned it and got a new pro where it was unfortunately still present but not blinding anymore), I'm slightly concerned about it potentially still being in the Quest 3. I'm genuinely surprised there wasn't more of an outcry about it, but then again I guess barely anyone bought a pro in the first place :P Jokes aside, I guess you'd be unaware of it if you only play brightly lit titles. I honestly wasn't even aware of it until I went into a horror game and suddenly couldn't see anything in my right eye :o

Btw you never get PC worlds in quest as Android build of world is not binery compatible with PC build, they would need to do on the go conversion

In some way it must works better. Lot's of games was working on 72 frames. Now quest 3 is minimum 90. I pre-ordered mine. Will test my backlog

@@jaybratt thank you! I think these terms especially contrast and black was the worst in quest 2. Several people waiting for a reliable information of contrast and black level in q3 vs the q2.

Same haptics as Quest Pro. The Touch Pro NEVER mentioned this. Although the Touch Plus (Q3) only showed this on screen in the presentation and no one has addressed what it means.
Great video! Which the only official Meta accessory I got was the active straps as the 3rd party ones are less elegant and only $10 cheaper. And the strap may be made out of a similar material tio the Samsung watch trail loop strap which is also $40 and is worth that over $10 straps.... Which mainly why I'm getting the Meta quest 3 day one is I rarely get consoles day 1 and yeah I figured the sales won't happen any time soon.
Another good question is the Quest 3 controllers gonna be backwards compatible to the Quest 2 because people may use them to upgrade/replace said Quest 2 controllers
The one time I had an issue was with the Quest 1 not charging correctly, and Oculus replaced the whole headset with a brand new one the same day they received my original headset, including providing a prepaid shipping label. Took about a week from dropping off my box to receiving the new one.

The two stage trigger means that clicking the trigger once and holding it down harder can be registered as two separate inputs, for example, if you are holding an item you could press the trigger once to hold it, and hold it down harder to break it.
Thanks for the info! I'm really hyped for this headset. I pre-ordered the 512 version because I didn't want to worry about space. If Meta doesn't add eye tracking on Quest 4, I most likely won't be upgrading in 2-3 years, so I wanted to be future proof.

How does the quest 3 compare to the psvr2 in terms of fov, clarity, graphics, comfort, etc.
Nearly every headset on the market will have better clarity than the PSVR 2 given it has a nearly non-existent sweet spot

I've never bought a quest headset. Is it possible to plug in the controllers or headset and charge it? Is there a way to purchase more storage without purchasing an entirely different headset? I was planning on buying it since it releases on my birthday but now I'm rethinking. I have a ps5 but i don't want psvr because it's wired and it won't be able to download mods. But now im not sure what to do.
You charge the headset with a cable but the controllers use disposable batteries

@@jigglybiggs2000Storage is solid in same as in phones now days, so it's good to think before buying what you need. If you plan to use quest for pcvr then 128GB might be sufficient, if standalone, you might consider 512GB

Consider the elite strap of the quest 2 i'd wait for a good, comfortable strap like bobovr or the kiwi one i forgot the name of. I don't think the elite strap can beat them honestly
Third parties will have swapable batteries, the elite strap doesn't.
I love using my Quest 2 in the dark, using IR lights. Does Quest 3 still need IR lights...?
I have the Quest 2 512 GB. I play for an hour to two hours plus! I love it. So disappointing about the battery. The new one looks so lightweight compared to the 2. I bought a new strap. I’m holding off on the replacement just because of money😂. Santa needs to drop one at my house.
You know if you dont buy a new quest 2 nose cover, a little light leaks in from where the nose is, will there also have this problem on quest 3?

I was lucky to win the Q2 lottery and I got amazing lenses. No blurryness, no godrays, no dead pixels, no light blurs, they were perfect.
And because of that, I am terrified that I will lose the lottery this time with Q3... please, let me get a good headset 😭 I don't want to go through the hassel of returning it 😭
What are you thoughts about the Quest 3’s MR opening the door to MR boardgames. Demeo was a great first step in that direction, but I would like to see classic boardgames like Axis and Allies or Risk have reimagining in Mixed Reality.
Mixed Reality strategy boardgames like the aforementioned examples could have a game changing mechanic added that so far only RTS and TBS PC games have had; that mechanic… Fog of War.
Really, think about what having unique map/board views would open up in boardgames machines. A group of people could play into IRL, in the same room, have the same map/board, but have unique Fog of War prospectives.
Thats huge. Fog of War is in no small part what made StarCraft and Civilization the respective RTS and TBS games that they are.
And that just ONE additional mechanic added to boardgames that only Mixed Reality could add. Imagine all the other video game mechanics that could be blended with traditional boardgame mechanics.
This is where I see the near future of MR really shining.

Hi Jay! Can you speak more on the Quest 3 lens quality? This is perhaps due to a phenomenon called IPS glow, where you get a brownish haze in the periphery or corners of the lenses when in dark scenes. It is not clear if it is a problem with the panels, the lenses or both combined. It seems that some people had this worse than others on Quest Pro and Meta exchanged their HMD's.
I was unlucky with my Quest 2 and had to return three headsets before I got a one without lens defects. I don't want to go through that again.
I personally am going to wait to see if they develop a middle level of memory. My Quest 2 is still working great. The cost difference is roughly $150 then add in charging dock and the rift strap I prefer and it be close to $1,000. Unfortunately I'm not rich lol. Thanks again for another great video!
My concern is accessories for the contoller. I play golf and cricket with a beat saber handle. So new ones will need to come out that can connect to the new ones.
How advanced is the quest 3 controller haptics? For example, if you were holding a gun in Pavlov, can you actually feel the weight of the gun and the materials that make up the gun like feeling the metal it's made out of? Another example could be if you were pulling back a bow, can you actually feel the bow string and its pressure? Or is it more of a ps4 rumble type of thing?

Does anybody remember the HoloLens Minecraft AR demo back in 2015? Imagine it was revived on Quest 3. I can’t stop thinking about it after seeing all the Quest 3 MR content.
When it comes to the headstrap I will be getting the Elite Strap with Battery until BoboVR releases their own Elite Style headstrap or a upgrade kit for the M1. Unfortunately the M2 where it sits on my head causes headaches so I'm stuck needing an Elite Style (Which really does suck because Halo Straps are amazing and everyone of my friends with a quest 2 had the M2.)
I'm getting the 5 year protection plan for "just" 70 euro on the 512gb model. Also great if I want to sell it in 3 years for the next user.
In EU that's transferrable right? I believe here a lot of them are not so you just lose the years potentially. There's some ways around it of course but not all transfer.

I'll be honest, I only use the Quest 2 for MSFS 2020, DCS, and sometimes F1 PC games so I don't see myself ever needing more than 128GB for the VR since nothing really lives in it.
yeah, run out of storage with 128GB, knowing the games i play, i'm not gonna get even close to using that amount, i've used like 30GB on my quest 2 so, won't be a problem for me

so just like with everything they sell you less of a product to then sell you that extra to get more money that they could've just put in the item to begin with.. i mean they already have external battery life extenders ready to order so it was def intentional with the price of quest extras. Ill be looking for a 3rd party battery pack cause 2 hour of VR when those like me spend upwards of 5+ hours in one session

Will Quest 2 games be up-detailed on the Quest 3 stand alone? Quest 2 stand alone games were dumbed down a lot from PCVR to Quest 2 stand alone. Details were missing, shadows simpler, or missing, entire copses of trees deleted, etc..

When I get a quest 3 and sign into it, will all my files and stuff be on there. For example I have side quest on my oculus quest 2 when I sign into my oculus quest 3 will I have to re download side quest and all side quest games again or will it automatically be on there?
Most things will need to be redownloaded. You will still own any games you bought but the headset won't have them pre installed or any files that aren't cloud saved. It's a lot like upgrading your phone.
What's the binocular overlap like on the Quest 3? It was really bad on the Quest Pro.

two way trigger i think means that theres to diffrent stages stage on is when you havent fully pressed it down in a game it might show you putting your finger on a trigger and pressing it full will make your weapon fire or letting whatever else
for short it has 2 stages of animation one not fully pressing on fully pressing it increases immersion by a lot actully
also its on the psvr2
It might be mechanical thing as oculus got touch sensing and analog pressure detection since first rift and also could do touching and pressure animation too, it's nothing new

Must admit, after having IPS bleed / lightbleed so bad on my first quest pro that it made me feel like I had cataracts whenever I was in a dark scene (I returned it and got a new pro where it was unfortunately still present but not blinding anymore), I'm slightly concerned about it potentially still being in the Quest 3.
I'm genuinely surprised there wasn't more of an outcry about it, but then again I guess barely anyone bought a pro in the first place :P
Jokes aside, I guess you'd be unaware of it if you only play brightly lit titles. I honestly wasn't even aware of it until I went into a horror game and suddenly couldn't see anything in my right eye :o
