Thanks for the info. I was on the fence about getting the legends but now I'm going to do a bit more research. 👍
For sure!
Thanks for sharing the honest opinion on the legends. It is so hard to find honest reviews on the legend forks.
Agreed! I will say that everything I have heard about them with customer service is great. And they really do support the motorcycle seen, but they are suspension leave much to be desired
@@RidinDad I bought their cartridges for my victory and they were way under sprung. Just sitting on the bike I was almost bottomed out. I bottomed out every stop. Their customer service was reluctant to help, but eventually changed out for some heavier springs. That made the stance right, but they were stiff as heck! I thought their Harley products might be more dialed, but maybe only dialed for those who want an overly stiff ride with no meaningful adjustments!
Yeah that sucks. They are definitely stiffer than stock but my RWD rear shock accomplishes a stiffer than stock feeling while also absorbing the bumps of the road and handling the entire ride. Much better. If my front fork cartridges only cost three or $400 I might think they were worth it but not at 800.
Thanks Chris; you saved me from going down the Legends route.
Glad I could help!! I should have listened to everyone before me lol
@@RidinDad I'll probably go GPS up front and Ohlins in the rear. I don't want as much height as the RWD gives you in the rear. With the Ohlins I think I can dial it back a 1/2"
Sounds like it’ll be a good setup!
Definitely after seeing the big bear and your video saying the legends ain’t worth it … I’m gonna save up for the the good stuff … I wanted the rwd for my rear but rwd seems to be on back order … I appreciate this review big time man … thanks !
Yeah rwd is hard to get right now. But worth the wait I feel!
And thanks man!
I have ohlins and I love it. Paid like $1,500 but they also have a twin tube set up that is $2,500.
Nice! Gotta pay to play man lol
I had legends on my Fatbob first and it was a little better than stock. I swapped to GP and I would never go back. My bike handles anything I through at it, no matter how hard I push it, it doesn’t feel likes it’s breaking a sweat.
My GP was much comfier on the road compared to stock and when I pushed it hard (120 pack riding side by side in the sweepers with my buddy) it was locked in the whole time. I also switched my rear to a Racetech, RWD was alright, but when buying suspension u want a company that it’s their bread and butter and they ask you weight and riding style and build the valving to you
Yeah that’s awesome man. That’s the exact setup I’m looking at switching to in the future
@@RidinDad it’s well worth it!
So I have the exact same set up on my M8 Fatbob and I have the exact same opinion big daddy here! RWD RS-1 is great but the legends revo front end is very ordinary. It is definitely better than the stock forks but not as good as a well dialed in Ohlins or GP kit. I agree, it rides very firm which is fine for some riders but for a highly experienced rider who knows how to dial in their bike, Legends will leave them disappointed in my opinion. Although, I will say Legends rear shocks on a Dyna are a really good option once dialed in.
Yeah man I was really disappointed. I had very high hopes for legends with how many fan boys they have
I installed an ohlins rear shock. prob rode 500 miles on it. I rode over a manhole cover that was deep. All the threads stripped on the height adjustment and now my bike is sitting at the bottom of its height adjustment. I’m really disappointed in ohlins and will be swapping it with the RDW.
That’s crazy. I’ve never heard that happening before. Have you reached out to ohlins at all to see what their response is? I’m curious
That new color scheme on the bike is coming along great RD! Absolutely Beautiful 🤩 any idea how to find out the paint code for the LRS bronze color on tank / wheels so I can get some of my parts powder coated ?
Thank you man!!! I have no idea. My best recommendation would be to go to prizmatic powders.com and search their colors. They post user pictures and explain what color and clear coat etc is used. You can search key words and stuff too. I feel like the fxlrs has to be in there at least once!
@@RidinDad thanks so much
👊🏻
Did you get a fix for the Trask Air Cleaner air filter? I heard something about using a K&N Air Filter part# E-3226 instead of the cloth-like-with-mesh Air Filter it comes with.
Yeah I’m currently using a k&n in it. Haven’t dyno’d it so can’t confirm but I would assume it works good
@@RidinDad I was just trying to find out is that the right part number and is it a good fit. You know sometimes you hear stuff and you spend the extra money and these jokers have no clue on what they are talking about. The only reason I asked you is because in one of your videos you stated that you switched back to the Trask Air Cleaner with a K&N filter.
Yeah if you check the comments in that video or maybe one of my other ones possibly the DK customs filter video one of the comments I posted the part number I’m using. I can’t remember it and I can’t check it right now but I know I wrote it in the comments a few times
Hey man, how did you do the tank emblems? Did you use a vinyl sticker or have it repainted?
I had someone pinstripe over the original design. Matched my powder coat color
I've been on the fence about getting ohlins front and rear for my 22 lrst. I know I won't hate it but doesn't seem like they have anything specific for the st. They got the nix30 I believe that will work but says it doesn't come with springs and doesn't link or even suggest any to get, and the only rear I can find is the s46 that says its 13" instead of 13.5 like stock. I'd prefer to not lose that bit of ride height in the rear and also I liked the idea of the newer 13.5 instead of 12.5 so there's more total travel for the shock to do it's thing. Think I might wait till fall or winter and see if they've come up with anything specific. I agree about legends. Anyone I know that has them says noticeable improvement over stock but definitely not the best you can get. Excited to see what else you got coming up.
The st already comes with upgraded suspension in addition to the increased height yeah? I wouldn’t bother with anything out yet
@@RidinDad Yea the front has I believe just different springs for the extra weight of the fairing and the rear is up to 13.5" over 12.5 before. Good call I'll wait till fall/winter and see if anything comes up by then while she's mostly asleep during the snow haha.
That’s what I would do lol
The stock ST shock is a hair over 13. 13.5 with raise the rear about 1 inch total. It's not 13.5 stock
I have a Race Tech internals on my bike and they are freaking stiff as well. Horrible to go on the shit city roads we have here in Brazil, I'm dying to find a nice tune between performance and the least of absorbing bumps without taking off the stability of the bike.
Interesting. I’ve heard ohlins, gp suspension, and suspension technologies handle the road imperfections great while still being stiff when you need it.
Is that pinstripe over the Harley sign on the tank or ?? How’d you do it, im interested
Yupp. I tried it myself but ultimately took it to a lock pinstriper to have him do it
@@RidinDad nice looks good, how does it do with washing the bike n all that
Completely fine. The only thing you cannot do is polish the bike like if you were doing a paint correction. But I still apply wax and stuff like that with no changes.
I have a question. Can you tell me why you would choose the GP suspension? I realize it's made in the USA. Just curious as I am trying to decide between Ohlins and GP.
Thanks, Diana
Go has an incredible reputation. From what I e seen even better than ohlins
@@RidinDad thanks for the info. I finally decided to go with the Big Bear Performance cartridge kit 508 and Ohlins rear shock. I opted for the BBP extension option on the rear shock. I will update after everything is installed. I see you have changed your ride and look forward to your future videos.
I like big bear. They make good stuff and really nice builds come out of there. I wouldn’t hesitate to order from them. You’ll be happy with that setup. Oh yeah for sure. Big things planned for this bike also!!! Appreciate it 👊🏻
I’m going with ohlins…. They are a superior design over legends… Quality wise.. I think legends and ohlins are pretty much both the same as far as ride quality. But the ohlins are easier to install and adjust… adjusting the legends preload up front require dismantling the forks …. Ohlins .. it’s done on the forks ..
I agree ohlins is superior to legends. I disagree that they’re the same ride quality though. The legends suck lol
I bought into the hype with legends and purchased their axeo kit for my dyna. I’m not impressed with them. They were just a bit better than stock. I’m going with +2 ohlins instead, much more adjustability.
Oh Lind are one of the best! And yeah, I should have done similar
My RWD eats everything I throw at it. Roads are garbage up here in the north east. I spend more time on logging roads than any softail has any business doing lol. The cruisetecs haven't let me down yet either. I'm thinking of just going with heavier oil for my front end. It's GP or nothing for me and I'm not ready for that kind of commitment
Yeah I should have done that lol. Loving the cruisetecs and rwd as well man!!!!
Welcome back to the present. What’s your take on the FTC telling Harley to honor their warranty? Also did you ever get around to doing a video on the exhaust sound? Went looking for it but to no avail.
I just swapped exhausts this morning. In that video is a sound clip comparison of them both. Plus I have a tail of the dragon video coming that you can hear the exhaust the whole time. And I think that’s good, that’s the way it’s supposed to be
@@RidinDad was it no good? I’ll wait for the video but if you’re looking to part with it, can I call dibbs? Lol
Lol it sold before I even took it off the bike. Sorry man. And it sounded amazing and performed great. Just too loud for me with my cam on long trips.
@@RidinDad no worries. I think I may go Sawicki since they seem to be what’s in stock. Really looking to go stage two, get the FXRT parts west coast styled and then chill on this build. Pay it off and get my second and third bikes. Kind of want a super moto to stunt around on next. Don’t have the heart, wallet, or balls to stunt the Harley lol
That’ll be sweet man. Check out stealth too
Hi, where can i contact you about the sponsorship?
Instagram is typically the easiest
Bro! Come back soon! We miss ya man!
😢 I want to man!! I have some slightly different content I’m gonna start trying to push out also man
@@RidinDad Well bring it on Bro!! lol I hope ya'll have been well! I know life can happen, so we're here when you start up again!
Appreciate it a ton 🙏 I miss you guys too lol.
I have Legend Suspension and it's money. Best handling I have ever had
I can’t see that being true lol
@@RidinDad I have a different setup though. 2011 Softail with Axeo fronts and REVO-S in the rear.
Yeah I’ve heard guys on older bikes like legends a lot so ma just their new stuff isn’t great
For those that want to adjust the front end recommended Ohlins …
Yeah and gp suspension is fully adjustable too like I said
The bald head looks so much better brother 👌
Thank you dude! 🤘🏼👊🏻
Hell yea , looks good!
Thanks man!! 🤙🏼
What seat is that?
I believe that’s a Saddlemen Pro Series SDC.
It is an sdc pro with removable backrest. I have a video on it too if you want to know more
@@RidinDad ok just watched the video. Thanks. I have a bad back
@@TheSigp220 yes. Thanks
Gotchya. Depending on how bad it is check out the saddlemen explorer with backrest. Doesn’t look as cool but I would imagine it’s way better for your issue. I use it for long rides and two up riding
Go with ohlins on front… you can adjust preload without all the work..
I know....it's a little late for that now though
Ohlins over legends
100% 👌🏻
