    I'm definitely doing suspension on my Lowrider S soon. I come from two decades of motocross racing, so naturally I jump and clown around on my HD quite a bit haha. I jumped a set of railroad tracks the other day and flat-landed (frame hit when I landed), so yeah... definitely getting longer travel suspension lol! Looks great man, and I love the channel.

      Not yet. I have been so busy doing other stuff to the bike, doing a whole bunch of install stuff to my second bike that I have now and so on. Without going into too much detail I could tell you it’s 100% worth it in my opinion. I love it. It makes the bike feel incredibly planted and very solid while also very cushioned over bumps and rode imperfections. I love the shock

    Perfect timing for upgrading the suspension; right before your Tail trip. The extra 1 1/2 inches should give you much easier turn-in and improve handling in ways that you might not be expecting. I've been wondering if you had made that trip yet. Couple of quick safety tips while on the Tail; as always ride YOUR ride, don't get caught up in keeping pace with anyone else. There are pull offs in just about every turn. IGNORE the pictures takers; most crashes on the Tail happen around them because people tend to focus on them / target fixate when riding by. The sport bike riders are fast; keep an eye out for them; they can be reckless. Some of the cars are pretty fast too; mostly the Minis and Miatas. There is a big pull off area (traveling north its about mile 10) where people tend to congregate; pulling on and off, watch out for it. It does provide some good photo ops though. If you get a chance try out the Eye of the Dragon; I think I posted the link on one of your other videos. It's actually a little faster and is three lane; the third lane alternates direction every 1/2 mile or so for passing. It'll take you out to Helena (little Austrian village) where you can grab a beer and chill for a while. Maybe get some cool pictures of the local culture. Not famous like the Tail but in my opinion a better ride. Enjoy; and be safe :)

    • @michaelcullen9216
      @michaelcullen9216 4 роки тому +1

      Oh yeah; and just because you respect the double yellow doesn't mean the guy coming in the other direction does (keep that in mind) especially when they are riding at or near the limits of their abilities, so be prepared to change your line ................. Ride for the enjoyment NOT for time. Time through the Dragon is meaningless; too much interference and other cars to ever get a time that is meaningful. That said; the turns are banked so you can push harder than you think LOL. I like the run northbound better than southbound. Run hard it is tiring though so if making multiple runs; rest in between.

    • @RidinDad
      @RidinDad  4 роки тому +1

      Lol thank you man!! And oddly enough I just took a small trip in a car with my family two spots in Georgia and without realizing it we rode through the eyes of the dragon and we made a stop in helena. It was so heartbreaking to be in a car and watching all these bikes enjoy the turns and everything LOL but I am excited to try it out again on a bike. I remember you commenting about it on my past video and I had it saved and my buddy knows about it but I did not even realize we were on it until I used the GPS and searched where we were LOL.

    • @RidinDad
      @RidinDad  4 роки тому

      And on the eye I actually saw a post recked bike that was pretty bad on one of the turn offs. Tons of sport bikes racing in and out of cars!

    Great Video!
    I am at the same crossroad as you were when choosing which of the HD 505 from Ohlins or the PS 465 or this. There is a 4th brand named Butibo which is the lowest in price.
    I think any of these 4 will be a great upgrade over the useless stock shock :D. Shame on harley for adding such a crappy shock.
    Now to my question. Did I see it right that you removed and installed the shock while the bike was supported solely on the kickstand?!

    • @RidinDad

    Thats good shocks, but I'd rather have a set of legend suspension shocks they're made completely in sturgis and almost 100% made in the U.S except 1 little plastic part but they're awesome the owner actually started the company for his softail years ago. They have front end kits and everything. Oh and nice ride man!

    • @RidinDad
      @RidinDad  3 роки тому +3

      Thank you!! And to each his own man, whatever you’re happy with. I like what rwd is doing and I like what walker evans is doing. The fact that they both teamed up and made this sucker was awesome. I personally like legend but for some reason I’ve heard a few people disliking their suspension setups. Saying they made the bike handle worse. 🤷🏽. For me it was between rwd or ohlins

  • @matthewjones579
    @matthewjones579 2 роки тому +1

    I see from your comments you like the shock. Is it stiffer on rebound or dampening? Does it handle big bumps better? Did you notice a substantial change in handling? Considering pulling the trigger for my own FXLRS.

    • @RidinDad
      @RidinDad  2 роки тому

      Yes to pretty much everything. It handles bumps in general much better and really makes you feel more secure. And the adjustable reservoir really let you fine-tune it for a more soft cushion he ride or a very hard aggressive ride. And the increased height is a huge benefit. I really like the shock. In the next two weeks I’m actually going to be posting a long-term review on it

    How do you like the low rider s. I am waiting for one to come in July to buy it. I currently have 2010 dyna super glide custom stock with 96 cu motor. I am hoping to see a huge difference in performance with milwaukee 114. Am I wrong to assume that? Seems like a sick bike

      Night & Day Bro! I had the same dyna and got an M8 107 & now the 114. The 107 is noticeably better compared to the twin cam 96 & the 114 is slightly more torquey. Both sizes are miles ahead of the twin cams. You're gonna love it man. Besides engine performance, the overall handling is so much more responsive & smooth. The new softails are crazy man & in my opinion the low rider s is the best performance platform & a super good deal for the money too.

    • @RidinDad
      @RidinDad  2 роки тому +1

      No I did, you have to use a jack. When you take out the old suspension otherwise the swing arm would just collapse into the fender under the weight. I use the jack and basically just propped it up at the exact height that it would not be pushing or pulling on the pivot points. And they recommend adjusting the preload to I think it was an inch or inch and a half, I’m pretty sure I see in the video but I really can’t remember as of right now so hopefully you find it in the video. But you just have to get somebody to eyeball it for you or measure with some tape marks and a ruler and maybe even your phone on video front facing or something like that. And just measure sag and if it’s sags too much then you just type in the ring up under the seat with the tour they give you

    Could you post a video on how to adjust the preload

    • @RidinDad
      @RidinDad  3 роки тому

      Truthfully probably won’t dedicate a whole video to it. You just use the supplied wrench and tighten or listen the shock collar. Easiest if you have someone there to measure the sag for you but can be done on your iwn

    • @jayvillaluz
      @jayvillaluz 3 роки тому

      I meant to say the reservoir. I was able to adjust the sag. But it didnt come with instructions on how to use the reservoir

    • @RidinDad
      @RidinDad  3 роки тому +2

      From what I remember mine did but I could be wrong. The reservoir is really simple. Just screw in clockwise to make it a stiffer response and screw out counterclockwise to make it a looser response. It can only screw in and out so much so my suggestion is to find the midway point (just count the clicks) and ride there. See how you like and then adjust tighter or looser based on that

    If ur like me and don’t like the look of the stock belt go grab a spacer and a longer bolt and throw that belt guard back on 👌

    • @RidinDad
      @RidinDad  4 роки тому

      I can’t do that even if I wanted to lol. If I push the reservoir mount any further out it’s gonna hit my saddlebag mount when it’s compressed. And it doesn’t bother me really lol. Just a few more months till a chain replaces it anyway

    You can still run the belt guard if you wanted. IMO if you don’t have a chain the belt looks ugly

    • @RidinDad
      @RidinDad  3 роки тому

      How can you still run it without fabbing your own mount obviously? Even in the directions it says the guard won’t fit with it. And yeah I don’t like the look either but it’s hidden pretty well with the bags I run and it’s a temporary thing anyway

      @@RidinDad so I actually spoke with Russ on the phone today and he was saying the reservoir shouldn't be loose. Don't put the tab on the swing arm in the space of the bracket. Put the bracket next to the tab and it will tighten down properly.

    • @RidinDad
      @RidinDad  3 роки тому

      What lift of the front are you talking about? Are you saying about how you can get it lifted or get those shims to raise the tree clamp about an inch? Or did you mean the extra lift on the rear being just preference? And at least with this bike it already sat feeling slanted back a little bit so even with the raised rear end it still does not feel flat and you don’t feel like you’re leaning forward at all

    • @danielmorales8803
      @danielmorales8803 3 роки тому +1

      @@RidinDad okay that’s good. Sorry for not making sense. I didn’t know if the plus 2 fork extensions were necessary that way I could order the right length fork cartridges

    • @RidinDad
      @RidinDad  3 роки тому +1

      I gotcha, and no worries at all. I just wanted to make sure I completely knew what you were talking about before I gave my input. And yeah they are not necessary. I mean you could always do it to increase a lean angle and stuff but I’ve heard from some people that raising the front end makes the bike handle poorly, but a lot of other people say that it still feels great with a raised front end so really just experimentation at this point

    • @RidinDad
