Genesis is the best luxury vehicle in its class. They never disappoint and the designs are way ahead of its time.
Honestly, I love what Genesis is doing! They have definitely stepped up there game this past year. I would easily choose this over the X3 M40i, Volvo X660 and all of the other competitors.
BMW is the way to go if you care more about driving dynamics, but bang for buck and features it has to be the Genesis!
I’d even choose it over x5 etc.
I did and have no regrets!

Nice review !!! 2000 miles later I love my 3.5 Sport Prestige, zero regrets. The Germans better pay attention, Genesis is serious..............0-60 4.8-9
from a larger displacement twin turbo. German engineering accomplishes those numbers with a smaller displacement single turbo. 🤷♂
@@jpizzledrizzle No thanks, I've owned BMW and Jaguar in the past, they loved visiting expensive mechanics..............Just had my one year concierge service, they brought a GV80 to my home, serviced my GV70 and brought it back end of day. If I had wanted an X3 M40i, GLC 43 or SQ5 I would have bought one, but after serious cross shopping the Germans, the Genesis impressed me most.
@@jpizzledrizzle true….but maybe that’s why bmw, Mercedes and Audi don’t last as long…because they put so much emphasis on HP/TQ on their engines, hence putting so much strain on the engine???!!!!!
How is the GV70 treating you a year later? I test drove one recently and we’re probably picking one up
@@egonpax 2 years in zero regrets, mileage is not great but balanced by strong performance. Owned BMW and Jaguar in the past, Genesis belongs in the same company, I would buy it again........
You'd have to be blind or very biased not appreciate Genesis' first swing in this class, and boy did they knock it out. They chased luxury and refinement with remarkable execution. The way the leather wraps nearly the entire interior reminds of what Rolls does(yes, I'm aware it ain't a Rolls, but in design, it reminds me of it). The shape is reminiscent of a Porsche Macan, again not bad company. LOVE the bold exterior lighting.
There are some small details: Hyundai/Kia has got to get serious on wireless Carplay/AA. It is simply unacceptable in a luxury car to not have it. The rear wiper kills the clean lines of the rear design. No cooled rear seats(present in a Telluride/Palisade), and the wheels...which look to be a PITA to clean!
Still, this thing is amazing...
The strange things with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto and the Hyundai group of vehicles, is that they do offer this with their cars with smaller / narrower screens. So there are cars where lower trims have wireless and higher trims do not. In this case, all of the GV70s have that very wide screen, so none of them have wireless. Would be good to understand why they can’t make it work wirelessly on wider screens.
Genesis/Hyundai/Kia are leading in so many ways as to motor vehicles ! GV70 is a great looking SUV ! Slainte' ! Cheers !
Best car I’ve ever owned. I cross shopped it with the X3 M40i and the Volvo XC60 Recharge, and this beat both of them by a long range in interior quality and comfort, was significantly better than the Volvo in driving dynamics, and came extremely close to matching the X3 in general driving dynamics, with the X3 being much more bumpy in sports mode (because this trim of the GV70 has the look ahead camera that prepares the wheels for potholes or bumps and softens those, while there wasn’t a trim or option on the X3 that did that).
I find the Volvo seats more comfortable, in terms of the driving dynamics, Volvos in general are not meant to be sporty, but very comfortable for daily uses.
@@darrenh5745 I hear you. I don’t, but it’s a good thing we have some great choices. I really like the Volvo’s power and hybrid aspects, and if I didn’t use Apple CarPlay, I’d also really like it’s Google OS based infotainment. It’s a great car. And now they’ve updated it with an even more powerful electric motor, and a more powerful gas engine. I think 455HP total and a 0-60 in 4.5s or less. It should be really sweet.
@@darrenh5745 I should add that the single weakest point on the GV70 is mpg. It’s terrible on gas, which at the moment is not wonderful. That’s also the Volvo’s single biggest plus. My wife has a Kia Sorento PHEV, and we fill up maybe every 1,000 miles. We’re getting insanely high mpg on it.

@@julianwarmington1267 I ended up trading in for a Hyundai Ioniq 5 Limited AWD. Absolutely love that car, but for very different reasons to the GV70. I considered the GV60, but it isn’t for sale in my state yet, and the Ioniq has much more interior space, and all of the luxury and safety features I need. I also love the looks of the Ioniq. I miss the Genesis GV70 some days, particularly the luxury. But 0-60 in 4.6s and instant torque is very addictive, and the Ioniq 5 in Limited trim is surprisingly luxurious and has more space inside for legroom, passengers etc than the GV70 despite being a much smaller car.
This is the same trim and exterior color I have and let me tell you, soooooo many people stop me to compliment the car, the color & paint, the design, etc.
It's an AMAZING car! Drives smooth, accelerates well, the tech is fantastic, the ride is nice and quiet, and there's complimentary maintenance.
I love it so much but of course it's not perfect, it's a gas guzzler and it's missing a few things: wireless android auto/carplay, door locking/unlocking sensors on the rear door handles, and memory passenger seats. But pros SEVERELY outweigh the cons

What is the paint color on this one?
He mentions it at the beginning of the video. This gray matte paint is gorgeous, but I wouldn’t want the maintenance of the matte paint…..its sure is stunning to look at though!
I understand the fascination for oddities and the attention such things come with, but matte is an inferior finish. Paint technology will likely overcome these problems someday, and although the aesthetics don't do it for me, at least that option will make sense at that point.

Careful with the matte colors. I was strongly considering a matte color gv70 and was advised by the salesman that they are hand wash only. Do not attempt to drive through a car wash with the matte colors - maybe if it’s brushless. He said they even provide the glove they are to be hand washed with.
They're already outselling Infiniti just like I said they would. This is their all around best looking product. Can't wait to see the new G90 reviewed and in person. Also where is the GV80 Prestige Signature?

I have to say there aren’t really any SUVs right now with luxury design but affordable options at the same time . Genesis is making its way up 🥳
I test drove this last week for the first time and WOW, was blown away at the comfortable ride (Genesis had both the 6-cyl and 4-cyl and I test drove the 4 cylinder as 300hp is more than enough for me - I'd take the slight fuel savings). STUNNING looking vehicle and looks twice as expensive as it is.. Great review

I really dug your article on, I believe it was the 2020 Mercedes Benz, S550. Man! How I wish I had not been a cheap skate and bought one! I'm still getting used to the new one. Fast forward to now. Best vehicle I've ever owned. I've walked up and seen people taking pics of her. The interior is better than anything else I looked it. And, as much as I loved the tech in my Audi, she far surpasses it.

Nice review guys of this fabulous car. I know this review was a while back now, so you probably won't remember, but I wish you had mentioned what MPG #'s you got while driving, especially since you had the car for a whole week. Maybe that's something you could think about for future reviews. I know you mentioned the EPA estimates, but we all know that those aren't always accurate. Being that I'm thinking of purchasing one of these, if any owners out there could comment on what real world mileage they're getting, it would be greatly appreciated!

Last time I checked to get the GV70, there as a $10k markup. But overall great car after test driving it.

Not a race car.......I bought mine in September of 2021. This Mauna red with the black leather is one to be enjoyed EVERY DAY. Easy decision between the BMWs and others tested. I knew MPG was not and is not the greatest BUT I did not buy it for the "economy". Be careful driving in sports plus mode in regular highway, no race car but VERY FAST! I LOVE MY 3.5 ! I Love the massage feature in the front driver seat! I do wish it had it in the passenger as well......
0-60 is definitely faster than 5.4 seconds i get 4.8-4.9 consistently
Me too, 4.8 with the Michelin Primacy tires, they turn into Pilot Sport all seasons down the road.
Yes, it is better than advertised. I got 5.0 during test drive of the 3.5 and 5.8 with the 2.5.

The only thing that's holding this SUV back is it's availability. In Canada, the 6-8 month timeline is just too long of a wait for me.
Hyundai motor group is killing it.
It can do more than pull in and out of parking spots. It can parallel park itself.
I have to say if there's a parking spot where I need that feature I wouldn't pick it. That's a ding waiting to happen.
So here's my dilemma I run a private chauffeur service full-time. Usually in a Benz or Tesla. I put about $30 a day in the Benz or have to charge maybe twice at supercharger. Im looking at the ioniq 5 but I feel since it's less range I'll be charging even more. Time is 💰. I want to excite my clients with the EVs but sitting at chargers is like damnnnnn. So idk what to do. Stay electric or keep gassin up...? Help, thanks!

Genesis copied the suede leather, red leather and red stiching combination from the Gulia Quadrifoglio. Look it up. This car looks great.
Going matte is a terrible idea for a daily driver or road tripper. I understand the fascination many have for the attention oddities bring, but it's an inferior finish. I think we'll eventually be looking back on this fad from the future, and it will rank up there with the awkwardness of bell bottoms and leisure suits. Of course technological advances might overcome the disadvantages at some point, and then you can choose to go dull without the hassles.
To those saying "lookout Germans." No. Just, no. It gets dropped by the X3 M40i. Cold start from Comfort, Sport, rolling races...dropped. The golf ball wheels, slow speed, and overall ugly contours makes it a pass. I'm spoiled by an X5M Comp, but even without bias, it's hard to overlook how lacking it is comparative to others in its class.
Those things said, I appreciate the innovation attempt. It keeps other actual leaders pushing to stay ahead.
Only draw back is the mileage. Less than 400 on a fill up. And it's so stupid that if you get the prestige you can't get the diamond nappa leather, which is the veat interior design for the seat

The Q3 is a lot smaller than the GV70. The Q5 is much more similar in size (but still slightly less passenger and cargo space), and is still a worse car overall despite being more expensive...
Definitely Genesis. My previous vehicle was a fully loaded Q3. No comparison to my GV70.

I feel like the genesis gv70 is like the luxury edition of the Hyundai Tuscon. Any Hyundai model in general. They are quite simliar.
Except this shares nothing with the Tucson.
Tucson (and the refreshed Palisade) is one of the best cars in its class, but there absolutely is no comparison between the two. This GV70 is absolutely worth the $20+k over a fully loaded Tucson...

I came very close to replacing my fleet with the G80 and GV80 till I saw the consumer reports so ill stay with Lexus

What kills this car brand it's the crápula dealers they have. All 4 dealers reasonably nearby me in NY suck terrible customer service I've seen much farther dealers be better but that's useless to me. Sucks
The interior design screams “The Jetsons” idea of “modern” …to each it’s own, not for me.
Beautiful. It's too bad that are plagued by so many recalls and poor reliability ratings, not to mention the horrible depreciation they suffer. One can only hope they realize that to be truly successful they need build a quality product as well and pretty.

I’ve owned my GV70 for 9 months, not a single issue, not a single recall; build quality far better than brand new BMW’s I’ve owned.
Car is worth 20% more than what I bought it for.

Eww.. fugly! What's with the big dumb grill fixation? Is Genesis trying to compete with BMW for biggest most stupid grill or something? It makes this newer design barely any better than the previous boringly block-shaped super square Genesis ICE SUVs.
- Stick to the pure electric G60. THAT is a beautiful car, and totally fantastic to drive, too.
I would NEVER buy this car because of the display. The driver has to take their eyes off the road while moving way too far to the right to have access to the panel. Dumb!
I own this car, and you don’t have to do that. You have a scroll wheel that is perfectly functional as an alternative. In fact, I’d say this is the safest car I’ve ever driven.
