- I have been a custodian for over 20 years. The purpose of this channel is to share some of my knowledge with you. I remember the feeling when I first became a custodian. I was given a set of keys, a radio and a badge. Didn't get any training whatsoever. Being a custodian is not rocket scientist knowledge. There are definitely things that a custodian needs to know. At the park district im at we have overlap shifts with sometimes 8 custodians in a day. The talker who complains about others, yet barely does anything. Lol

I worked with an “OCD” custodian at my last school for 6 years. The man would literally lose sleep if everything was not 100 percent perfect. Stripping Floors with him was a total nightmare!!!!
Had one of those for 11 years. Had to transfer.

I work in a plant but I have 2-3 cases of tp and as much as extra pt as my shelves will hold in all my closets😂Somehow we are always without tp in the supply room for 3 days and we have 3 carts to keep stocked😵💫

I’m the same way. I use to install insulation. All the write had to be turned the same even though it was going to be covered up with sheet rock. So yes I’m a little ocd. On certain things.
@Mr Jeff Custodian lmao 🤣 they're all true lol. I've been a CSEA Local 860-NY member for 10 years now 7 as a Custodian and 3 as a maintenance laborer.. I was the Custodian who was always in a hurry. I hated having to rush at the end of the night shift, to get things done, while plays, sporting events or board meetings were going on. Always wanted a good jump on my section before getting pulled in 5 different directions. I miss interacting with the staff inside, but I don't miss getting home late at night, now that I'm on days. I took the civil service exam for Night Sr and Head Custodian, and passed, I'm just waiting for the older heads to retire and hopefully get promoted

Hey Jeff, do you have a good degreaser that will help with calcium deposits on finished concrete floor that my custodians can also use in tiled locker room showers? I’ve been ordering Profi and Prominance because we also deal with Mondo flooring in the athletic weight room floors but trying to just mail it on one or two products.
Diversey has a purple degreaser that worked amazing on our kitchen lab floor but wanted to know what your thoughts were?

Yes always found it interesting. I still have like 4 hours of work to do. Then another custodian walk up to me and says I’m done.

A lot of truth is why it’s so funny to me.
How about the person which finishes their 8 hr. route in say 4/5 hrs every shift !! When it takes you 7 hrs to finish yours and it's almost the same as theirs's !
Adding: You keep a moderate to faster pace without sluffing off ! I've also worked "the others" route in which they got done hours early and it still took me 7 hrs.

I used to work with a woman who could be all of these in one shift. You never got her the same way. If she was in a mood she would go around the cupboards on our floor and reorganise them .
I got some stories myself.
Don't forget about the grumpy gen xer custodian like myself . The one who works 10 times is hard and complains about all the people you feature in your video🤬
