    Thank you for the courage to stand up to “teaching” and support “science.”
    I asked fir a Dietary Consuit for my sister when she was hospitalized with a bowel obstruction. We were both horrified at the recommendation (low ricin diet.) She cried. I went to work! A green smoothie a day, eliminated processed foods and good old fashioned grilled/baked/ BBQ meats/ fish. The exact opposite of a low ricin diet!
    Fast forward 20 years and 12 marathons later. . . No more bowel obstructions. Energy through the roof! Bikini ready tear round.

    Walking-- I have found that a 10 min. brisk walk after eating lowers my blood sugar. Yes you dont have to do more unless you are up to it. Yes Im pre-diabetic on the verge of t2 as of Aug 11 dr. My BS readings have improved but avg above 100 105-110. I believe I have watched every vid online on how to reverse to where Im sick of it. Some say half your plate should be fat, not sure how you would do that. Im big on adding ground flax and chia seed for fiber.

      Yes - walking right after a meal is great!!! And I fully understand about over watching videos - I call it ‘decision paralysis!’ I don’t do a plate of half fat - just cook my fiber (veggies) in good omega 3!

    I am 5’2 started at 252 after gaining a hundred pounds after struggling with endometriosis and birth control for it. Started working out, doing intermittent fasting and eating low carb and now I’m 209. Still have a long way to go but proud of the process. I brought a glucose monitor a month ago because I figured I was insulin resistant and pre diabetic cuz of how long it takes me to lose weight and I realized and I am pre diabetic which makes sense why low calorie diets don’t work for me. Low carb and intermittent fasting is all that works for me. However tho I’m down to 200 my fasting blood sugar is still high (110-118).I also started taking berberine a month ago: I’ve never been a sofa drinker and no longer drink juice. I only drink sparkling water, Mio and crystal light outside of water. I can’t just drink regular water all day. My question is why is my glucose still high when I have cut out so much sugar and normally consume less than 50g of carbs, sometimes less than 20g. Occasionally I have a cheat meal and go up in carbs but even then I am fasting for 18-22 hours and consuming my cheat meal as my one meal. But im still prediabetic. How long does this take? Can I do anything to speed it up?

    • @dietitianshelly
      @dietitianshelly  Рік тому +2

      Congrats on your changes! I am so proud! What time do you stop eating at night AND how much protein are you doing at night? How much berberine? You can also download my menu to compare to yours to make sure you are getting the right balance of protein!

      @@dietitianshellyThank you so much! I’m a night eater! That’s my problem! My eating window is in the evening because that’s when I get hungry. I recently switched to super berberine glucose vantage so I have 170mg of dihydroberberine a day. I just got a personal trainer and the macros he gave me was 25% carbs, 45% protein and 35% fat with calories at 1450. This comes out to 91 grams of carbs and 145 grams of protein! I’m not used to eating this many carbs or protein so I really don’t know what to do, especially if I continue doing intermittent fasting and only eat two meals a day. Also, 91 carbs seems so high to me but I know it’s because I’ve been deriving myself of carbs for so long.

    • @dietitianshelly
      @dietitianshelly  11 місяців тому

      @@TheBosslady0417 You are absolutely correct - it is really hard to get 91 grams just from veggies. I would consider adding in some of the items slowly - 1/2 sweet potato (10 grams), 1/4 c berries - then slowly build from there.
