Took me a day and a bit of listening to Opeth before realising they were the best band I'd ever heard
Happened to me just like this. Then I got to party w the band in Vegas at mandala bay and see them do a show for only 500 people. It was glorious!!

Yep. Most youtubers react to a couple of songs at best. Opeth is so much more....
No other band out there is quite like the sonic experience of Opeth. Many people don't GET IT. It helps that you are a musician. I am one too and the arrangements, interesting chords, and textures quickly sucked me into their orbit and I've been orbiting for more than a decade now. I sometimes refer to their songs as a 5 course meal. For your appetizer we serve you this part, now for the next dish try this, and so on. It paints great sonic visions in the mind and tells stories as well.

I would like to thank whoever requested this song, I know some opeth fans don't like the album "heritage" and onwards, I always embrace new styles, and love where opeth went, doesn't mean I can't still love the rest of their material, same with a7x, I liked them from the beginning. seems some people just want a certain sound and aren't really in love with music . (:

You got yourself a new subscriber! This is by far my favourite Opeth's song. I usually jump out of my chair at that part too, this song got the best of everything opeth did, the heavy riffs in the middle are quite unique, the clean soothing vocals, that acoustic riff near the end .. and the lyrics can be interpreted in so many ways, they even used reversed satanic lyrics just because they can! This song is certainly my absolute fav from Opeth, with Faith in Others and Ghost of Perdition.

I can’t really come up with a bad Opeth song but both the Watershed and Ghost Reveries album are amaaaazing. You can’t really go wrong with anything there. :)
A lot of their new prog rock stuff is fantastic also. I’d recommend ”I feel the Dark” from the Heritage album.

Being a musician myself, and a Opeth fan for over 20 years, their writing style has affected me greatly. Their last couple of albums though has almost lost me as a fan. Watershed in my opinion was the last 6/6 album for me.
