Ideally the lifepath should effect how "happy" your chosen ending is
CorpoV should get an option to return to work as a special operative. This is the only way to remain with Goro if that's important to you
NomadV should be able to rally the Aldacaldos w/o completing Panam's entire quest line though it goes badly if you do
SteeetKidV should.enjoy becoming Prince of the Afterlife. Your meeting is with bunch of rookies and V is putting together their own version of The Heist

That would be cool but I think cdpr wanted to make numerous expansions of of the endings of the game that's why every ending is a bit of a cliff hanger but obviously there not doing that anymore because of the bad launch but we don't know anything about fantom Liberty yet other than its 40 to 60 hours long so who knows maby they find some way to tie in all the endings but Johnny silverhand retuning as much as I love his character could shoot that theory down before it's even taken of.

I love this idea. Each life path should have a happy ending. I would like to see corpo v get back into arasaka. I would like to see a more impactful ending with the aldecados as a nomad. Street kid needs a chance to really celebrate living out jackie's dream.

Technically they are all happy endings depending on you look at it. A male V who romances Kerry or a Female who stays with River has a sort of happy ending in Blaze of Glory. A male or female who romanced Panam or Judy get to ride off into the sunset. Devil's Ending is the only one that's unquestionably bad since Johnny treats it as a betrayal and Hanko and Goro essentially abandoned V after they served their purpose. V is left alone without even the biochip to remember Johnny and Jackie by

    • @Pogiforce
      @Pogiforce 2 роки тому +13

I agree with these options, but I have a few more. corpo path aldecado ending is V learning what actually makes him happy, and it's not the endless rat race of the city. Streetkid V aldecaldo ending, basically the same thing.
Afterlife ending to me feels happy no matter what. Corpo V may not have risen to the top of the corpo world, but he's the top of the merchant world, and that's arguably better. Streetkid V became king of the city he knows and loves. Bonus points if you get your hands on a Rayfield during the course of your playthrough. Nomad V risked it all to find success in NC, and they got it in spades.
And let's not forget: Jackie dreamed of the major leagues. In this ending, you ARE the major leagues. You fulfilled your promise to your best choom.

Nomad V who’s known family and the struggle to survive desiring the comfort of the corpo life. Finally corpo V who’s been suffering and living unfulfilled seeking the glory and freedom of becoming a Night City legend and going out with a bang and a middle finger.

I can think of at least five good reasons to choose either Corpo or Nomad (StreetKid would have been better for second playthroughs with advanced knowledge). But if lifepaths had exclusive content, people would condemn CDPR for locking them out of content in the full experience. Each lifepath has major contributions to the themes of the game. Corpos in particular lose "their" wealth to illustrate a major point: your prosperity belongs to your employer, and they will revoke it the minute it inconveniences them.

I wouldn't mind having content locked by choice of lifepath, or choices in game (like some gangs become more or less aggro or give quests depending on if you're on good terms).
And for the romances, i think the problem stems more from the fact there's so few of them. If there were à ton of them, i wouldn't mind having most being locked by gender or even lifepath and in game choice. But right now there is only 4 of them which is one by each gender/sexuality combination (granted you can choose between two if you play bi but it's still only one option of each gender).

To answer the question: the choices don’t have many long term effects. You get a unique prologue, and for the rest of the game you’ll get dialogue options relating to your background. They change how V’s personality feels a little, but V is pretty much always going to be snarky, loyal, and ballsy.
I went with Nomad for my first run through and Corpo for my second. With the first, he felt unsurprisingly like a wanderer. He’d interject conversations with bits and pieces of nomad trivia or stuff like that. Admittedly I don’t remember much. With corpo, he’s almost kinda like Jack Reacher from the Jack reacher movies. It only applies when he’s talking to corporate people, but those options were always pretty neat. He knew the game they were playing and would just tell them how they were doing it or what they wanted. He speaks much more confidently with those options, occasionally being more aggressive as well. It’s a nice difference from his usually dry responses to stuff.

DAO had a good use of the origin system and its influence was felt relatively throughout the game when characters address you or the dialogue options you had.
Star Wars The Old Republic also from bioware, took it way further where the origin you pick (bounty hunter, sith, jedi etc) influences your whole story arc, voice, companions, ship and personality. All 8 origins feel different and separate from the others... Until you do the expansion where everything is streamlined into one path

SWTOR is a hard comparison, given how they damn near bankrupted themselves on the project while it consistently nosedived until F2P. Millions were crammed into it, while pennies were spent on the creaky engine never meant for such a project, so much so that it had to be frankensteined into something entirely different just to keep it afloat.
CP2077 would have been the time to try something crazy like that, but after the disastrous initial launch, I can't imagine there was any scenario in which they could have made it work without tacking on another couple of years of development. And I don't think they're going to get to play around with fuck-you-money development blank checks next time around.

Picking a life path changes your perspective on V. It changes whether you think V wants to be the greatest edge runner because they grew up in night city they know the life and how living in night city absolutely sucks and how you want to be remembered forever and not just another worthless citizen. You could be plain as a nomad or a Corpo V as you were kicked out of your previous lifestyle, it might change how you view, and how you play the game like for example, as a nomad, you might be really strong and very good with technology, technically wise, or as a former Arasaka employee, you might have high Cyberware and really focus on stealth, smart weapons and hacking as you might see your V as a more non-confrontational more softer but and also just a more smarter person in general. Or playing as a Strke kid you know the hassle of life and you know what it takes to survive the night city until that might be a life path where you are a master of all things as logically speaking if you were foreign tonight city, you weren’t necessarily know what you need to do to survive as being a Street kid, you know that you can’t necessarily rely on one thing, so you spec into everything . But the different life path equals a new whole experience for each player and it really changes on how you CV has a character where do you play as a quart both for your very first time and you kind of wanna go by the greedy lifestyle or you might go buy a nomad as a tough on kill ball machine or you might play as a street kid a person who understands the hustle in the grind that takes to be a legend in Night City. But this also changes your ending. Maybe your street kid who just wants to be free of night city or nomad who misses their freedom or a Corpo who wants a life outside of business and so you then go to the Aldacadoes ending. Maybe you are a Corvo who wants to stick it to Arasaka as after all you’ve done, you ended up being kicked out until you want to bring your judgment straight to them or your nomad who just hates corporations or you’re just a Street Kid who knows the evil in the corruption of corporations and you just want to go down as a legend, and so you then pick the ending where you attack Arasaka with the rogue. Or maybe you are you a Arasaka Corpo who wants to get back into the good graces of Arasaka, by sucking back up to them, and helping Hanako, you might be a nomad who really has no idea what do you except for folding to Arasaka, or are you just might be a Street Kid who gave up on their aspirations of being a legendary edge runner and see the only way of continuing to live by siding with Arasaka. And for the don’t fear, the reaper ending, you might be angry Ex Corpo who wants their revenge you might be a nomad who is tired of corporations getting their way or you might be a V who knows that the only way that they can go down as the best edge runner of all time is by doing a suicide route and taking on Arasaka all by themselves, not willing to try to get their friends hurt as well. Or finally you might be a who just gave up from being a quart bowl from being a nomad order from being an edge runner, and knows that they don’t have too much to live for anyways as their feet is inevitable, and instead of trying to do something or at least, trying to with their best life with the remaining time they have they just end it short not thinking about how we will fact other people that loved them or people that were friends to them as they were going through their own problem and struggling but he just never thought about other people not being selfish on purpose, but they just were and then V, as of taking their own life on their own accord, which in some ways is respectable as it’s scary to see yourself slowly dying or it’s just too minor. Racking to give up your wife so another person who lived 50 years before you could just continue to live their life fun and it’s not like even asked for this not with your knowledge before hand just happened. But no matter what ending you get you still have to come to terms that V ends up dying whether you like it or not. Because if he ends up dying, either by through ever been stored in Makoshi and one day being freed from it whether it’s dying with your friends and family at your side or whether it’s dying by your own hands or fighting back against Arasaka, and proving yourself to be a legend or you end up surviving the fight against Arasaka and you were just the most legendary edge runner of all times, but you still have to grapple with the fact that not even within a year you’re still going to die. Or a rocker boy takes over V’s body whether we wanted that to happen or whether V try to stop Johnny from doing it, but Johnny still did it. And this proves a point that no matter what night city is everything opposite from a city of dreams everyone who’s in there for long enough and the dying because of the city and there’s only a few people who get lucky because V helped them out.

Like if we consider how each of the three 'main' endings clearly tie to one of the lifepaths (The Sun-Streetkid, The Star-Nomad and The Devil-Corpo), I think it would have been cool if you got an expanded or additional options for your ending if you chose one that corresponds to your lifepath. Like I've always loved how The Star ending is a perfect bookend to the Nomad prologue, with V entering Night City having lost everything including their family, and then leaving Night City as part of a new family. Nomad is the only life path that feels like it was purposeful, that other two feel very rushed and tacked on. The Nomad has you doing more stuff, you get some actual action, and feels like it recalls more of that life path in the jobs you do with Jackie. When you do the Maelstrom job to get the spider-bot, you can find information on a laptop that exposes who the mole in Militech is, and you can let Meredith know. It also references the iguana in Yorinobu's apartment, as you were transporting one earlier. It's the only one that has the feeling of fitting with the other jobs.
Nomad is the only job that also has an ending that fits with that lifepath. You can find a new nomad family, and ride off into the sunset with Panam. While there is a sort of corporate ending in The Devil path, there isn't really a Street Kid ending where they become a fixer or something. Maybe you could argue the Rogue ending fits that, but not sure it feels as fleshed out.

In the cyberpunk tabletop game lifepaths were your intro story, i.e. a short blurb that explained how you even got into the mess that was the story you were playing.
Frankly I think that the presence of lifepaths in CP77 is grossly overstated and if it hadn't been a playable section at all people would not have been nearly as upset about them being "insignificant" as they ended up being.

Coming from someone who has played through all the life paths I think you get the most out of street kid there are 12 interactions each you can have with every gang through out the city and with street kid you have optional dialogue and there not just neat little voice lines either you can avoid violence most of the time one of my favourite examples of this is getting the scavs to back down from attacking the aldacardos

As a DnD player it feels like playing pre-made campaigns with your own character. More roleplaying, builds and choices revolving around how my character would think rather than absolutely pushing the world around like a typhoon in more lax campaigns like homebrew. I actually like that, and its not like many other open world games stray from that design so I don't particularly mind as much, especially for a character who is essentially made to expire. Its like, this is the bar and I'll only really care if devs manage to fall below or exceed it. We all hope for another New Vegas style game in terms of choices and decisions but I think we'll only ever get there if a team truly decides to have their game revolve around the impact your actions had on multiple groups and the environment rather than individuals and the ending. Many teams would rather have a linear track of events or slight alterations since its easier to focus on a singular goal.

I think an story based on the concept of changing the world around the character would never work on the cyberpunk universe, or in any cyberpunk genre setting. Those are always stories in which main characters are nobodies who find themselves in situations that are way bigger than them, so their overall impact will never be great, that's why those narratives tend to focus on the personal impact, which I think the game portrays really well.
V never had the power to save Jackie or Evelyn, never could have join a faction (being a mercenary means you have no loyalties or biases) and if they could join, they wouldn't be an important member nor change anything. What V can do is stablish realtionships, impact the life of the individuals they met, and decide between becoming a puppet on an arasaka political plot or keeping a safe distance

For me, it isn't about being a generic corpo that makes that lifepath my favorite. It's specifically being in corporate counterintelligence.
I'm sure the other paths are nice, but Dexter choosing the merc who is former Arasaka counterintel to do a raid on Arasaka has always made the most sense. It's Dex's first gig after a 2 year hiatus, and while T-Bug is solid, he could have found someone else for this job to work with her, but it just so happens she already knew the perfect specimen for such a niche role. Knowledge and experience in infiltration, as well as how Arasaka specifically deals with infiltration attempts, might be worth a dozen skilled streetkids and nomads. It's not about being better in the absolute sense, just that this is perfect role specialization. The other paths may be better in other parts of the game, but The Heist is the foundation of the entire story.

I could imagine CDPR implementing some more backstory-specific stuff in the, lets call it "post game DLC", but considering the scope of what's in the game right now I'm actually glad they didn't do too much with it in the base game, distracting them from making the main story as good as it is.

    My V Lifepath Headcanons
Nomad V: He had pretty nice life being part of the Bakkers nomad clan. However, he had a plan that majorly backfired once he tried to reclaim their independence from the Snake Nation. To which only hurt them in the process.
Corpo V: She grew up a new money family & she had tiger parents that would constantly compare her to her older brother. You’d think this would cause a bit of bad blood between the 2 but their big age difference prevented that from happening. Her brother would share memories of their life living in Heywood, how money changed their parents for the worse & instilled the value to try to look out for the little guy when they can. Sometimes let her hang at his place to get away from the pressure their under or take her to shooting range to blow off some steam.
Fast forward V gets hired by Arasaka & sent out to negotiate a deal with another company. Her brother joins her as representative of MaxTac who’s also making a deal & hires Jackie as a bodyguard since the Welles used to be family friends. Negotiations go terribly wrong, resulting in a shootout & her brother gets caught in the crossfire. V bonds with Jackie over the trauma & that’s how their friendship starts.
StreetKid V: After the death of their partner their mom/dad leaves them at the Night City orphanage. Becoming a kid of the foster care system V suffered grave abuse ranging from belt beatings to being forced into being a drug mule to families linked to gangs. Clinging to last bit of hope they runaway making it as far as the Coyote Bar. Suffering a panic attack at thought of being caught Mama Welles notices & tries to comfort them. Hearing out their story she introduces them to Padre Ibarra who takes them in. Offering them the opportunity to have them taken out or giving them the ability to defend themselves. They choose the latter.
Fastforward, V saves up their merc money after tracking down their mom/dad in Atlanta. Turns out their mom/dad is living it pretty well and has started up a new family. Mom/dad doesn’t want anything to do with V and tries to pay them off as they remind Mom/dad of their painful past. V returns to Night City & vents out their anger through work. Admist the montage meeting of meeting Jackie, Viktor & Misty I like to think they’ve learned to forgive their mom/dad & move on.

Still waiting for you to do a video about how Johnny's flashbacks/ memories are mostly not what REALLY happened. That Blackhand was the one who run the operation against Arasaka and the one who ACTUALLY fought Smasher since Johnny was instantly killed and NEVER even made it to the top of the tower.

That is a lie. Yes Blackhand ran the operation, but this is mentioned in the game itself, you can see this in their dialogues while they were arriving at the tower by helicopter, however Johnny didn't instantly die, Johnny and his crew were in charge of placing the bomb and leaving, while Morgan fought most of the troops himself as diversion.
Johnny was stopped right when he did in the game, he placed the bomb and was intercepted by Adam Smasher who captured him. So, what's different?
Shaitan was never taken down, Shaitan was actually slaughtering Arasaka soldiers while Rogue and Johnny went to plant the bomb, on return Shaitan saw what happened to Johnny and fought Adam Smasher directly, Shaitan was already a full borg back then, while Adam Smasher was still just a cyborg in a Dai-Oni suit. Shaitan kept fighting and pushing Adam Smasher back until Morgan Blackhand arrived. Shaitan failed to recover Johnny, but he took Rogue and the rest of the crew to the helicopter and they left the scene. Meanwhile Morgan kept fighting Adam Smasher until the bomb went of.
RIght before the explosion however, Morgan left these cryptic lines. "Let us test what Adam Smasher keeps talking about"(the lines may differ a bit from this cause I'm writing from memory, but the meaning is exactly this) Which may imply that Morgan may have been using a more advanced implant setup for that specific fight, and that may have saved his ass from the explosion.
Adam Smasher became a full borg because of the explosion, he lost almost the entirety of the human parts he had left. And Morgan was never confirmed dead, much on the contrary, there are many rumors of someone still completing missions with a black Projectile System arm.

@@bloody4558 Actually you're wrong. The entire op was a Militech run op led by Morgan Blackhand. There were three teams, two bomb teams and a distraction team. Johnny led the distraction team. Him and his friends were busy fighting all the guards and leading them around while the two other teams were planting bombs. Smasher showed up at Johnny's location, Johnny unloaded his entire arsenal into Smasher with no effect who then blasted him in half. Johnny died there. When Smasher made it to the roof, Morgan intercepted and the two had a fight where the winner is unknown. Someone on one of the two bomb teams f'd up and that's how the Night City Holocaust happened. Also it was Spider Murphy who made the Johnny engram. She pulled a data plug that was downloaded to her by Alt and inserted it into Johnny's head. As an aside Silverhand and gang didn't know they were a diversion. It literally only lasted seconds between Johnny and Smasher.

They actually do in my opinion.. see, all the outcomes of any decisions u make in this game r all very subtle, rhe game doesn’t ever choose a right or wrong decision, none of the things u do majorly changes the world, but it does change ur character n the other characters in game, and it changes the way ur play through plays out in very subtle ways .. rhere r many subtle things throughout the game that r specific to ur life path, specific interactions or choices that can only be made if u chose a certain life path.. I kinda love the way they want about decision making in this game, unlike most other rpgs where the right n wrong choices r very obvious and have major obvious consequences

Great video but you did miss a few details like lifepath specific weapons and vehicles. One example would be when you meet up with Jackie outside of maelstrom he will be on his bike. If your a nomad with a high enough technical ability level you get a dialogue about some changes he could make to his bike. Later on after the Heros side quest you get his bike only to find that he took your advice and tuned it up. The bike then has alternate visual parts and is much nicer to ride then the normal varient.

Fourth playthrough I'm a Nomad seduced by the glitz and glamour of the Corpo life. But role-playing as a caring person so some gradual descent into corruption has to happen there.
They may do rigid lifepaths for the sequel, but this dynamic approach is still great for replayability.

IMO it doesn’t matter what life path you choose, what matters is what feels more like a compelling story to each person that plays it. I played the street kid in my original run of the game when it first came out. And I loved it, I’m about to start a new run and going to start as a Corpo.

  • @SpartanManch

Honestly, I'm thinking about going Corpo. You're a street kid/thug in multiple GTA style games already. You're a nomadic/cowboy character in many post apocolyptic games already. But in this, it seems to make sense to go full corpo. Having access to the best tech, lying and scheming your way through shady companies, killing and stealing, all because it's simply your job; that's an extremely cool way to introduce yourself to this world. At first glance, it's also the most mysterious of the trio and that hs a certain allure all on it's own.

  • @vincentgc1

Nomad is the best if you wanna metaplay, you get a free car, can upgrade Jackie's bike (6 tech required), making it the second fastest bike in the game with smooth handling (my personal favourite bike), if you're male V you also get tons of unique conversations to have with Panam if you're going for the romance (making it impossible to fail the romance), pre-cyberware update you also got free unique ripper upgrades.
Corpo is the best if you want cash, since a lot of in-world events and such you can just use your corpo convo instead of cool skill to pass checks. However the money for such events and quests sucks, it was good pre-PL update since you didn't earn a lot of money from selling weapons and cyberware. But now you can sell a common weapon for 1.5k ED (used to only be 50-150ED), which is basically the same as additional rewards from cash-quests and gigs. So you might as well just horde weapons and sell instead of choosing the corpo lifepath. Plus you start with a lower relationship with Johnny cause he hates corpos.
Street-kid doesn't come with any benefits but it seems like the most lore-accurate and it does have a lot of flavor dialogue in almost all main quests (blue options), but nothing that can earn you more or alter outcome

There is a Gig given by Regina, involving the last honest cop in NC.

One reason I like the Corpo life path best is that it is heavily implied that V and Jackie have been friends for a lot longer than the other two life paths. Their conversations make it seem like they are very close friends already. This makes Jackie's help at the start more realistic, and his death has a deeper meaning.

  • @heyfell4301
    @heyfell4301 Рік тому +1

I wished the entire first act up until the heist was defined by your Lifepath.
If you're Streetkid it goes like usual. If you're Corpo, you actually go on the quest to kill Abernathy and fail horribly, leading to you and Jackie having to do her bidding in order to not be executed, leading to the heist she wants you to do in order for her to get an edge over her bosses and climb the social ladder. Then for the Nomad I wished you had some time with your clan until getting banned and understanding why that happened, then smuggling the Iguana as usual, and then maybe being blackmailed by that Militech gal to do the job or something (I think this is the only path where things would have to be severely altered to fit, I couldn't think of someone good to hire V into the heist here).
There could be two ways to handle it: either Evelyn is behind all those plans as she is in the regular game, then whoever hired you does the job of Dexter to shoot you later and get screwed by Takemura, or Evelyn is only important in the StreetKid path, with you bonding with different yet equally important characters in each route, while all routes eventually lead you to professional idiot De'Shaun who always gets "De'Shauned" at the end.
