The fact that V managed to take on, win against and kill Smasher (While extremely sickly and borderline half-dead) when nobody else ever could, not even Blackhand, really just goes to show how ridiculously OP V is.
V sure starts out as some rando, but over the course of the game they do become a pretty crazy strong merc. Also they're not a complete rando. The origins don't elaborate too much on their past but it can be assumed that no matter the origin they have past combat experiences as either a ganger, raider or counter-intelligence agent.

V was able to get himself the best of the best cyberwear and weapons. He was also faster and more cunning than smasher. Also I killed smasher ain’t no way I could let something like that to live perhaps even get more powerful after taking that loss.
This only irritates me when I consider how lackluster his boss fight was. Consider how immensely powerful both Smasher and V are at this point. The fight should have had phases, slug out moments, near death scenarios. V became one of the most powerful edgerunners ever to defeat Smasher, but the fight was less interesting than a Cyberpsycho.
You're not wrong, I can only hope that CDPR have changed it in the Edgerunners patch or will do so with the DLC. I know a lot of fans have a lot of hate they need to take out on him, all the videos of people killing him with a big purple phallus is testament to that.

Correction: Sandevistan doesn't manipulate time but the user's perception of it. Your senses and reaction time are jacked up to the max, making everything seem like slow motion to the user. Its why David had such a massive kickback from using it, his human body couldnt keep up with the energy demands of using the Sandy.
Just goes to show how insanely competent and compatible V's body is toward cyberware seeing as how we are able to switch between tons of different types of Sandevistans
So in the original 2020 tabletop there was a tech called a biopod that allowed you to instantly download into a new body at home upon death. Very expensive, but for someone as important as Smasher? Pennies
@@progeniesofthetoiletpaperh6433 I'm pretty sure that Arasake has backups other then Mikoshi, I'm pretty certain that Mikoshi is the one they use for saving the general publics engrams but they definitely have backups that are kept away from mikoshi, like do you really think they would only have 1 Saburo engram, or 1 Adam engram, think about it throughout the whole game Johnny isn't even in Mikoshi he's in V's head the whole game, so they can take engrams out of Mikoshi whenever they want.
If they could do that couldn’t they make multiple Adam smashers? Actually why don’t they just have Uber powerful robots with the top of the line cyberware but without the human aspect?
Having just finished Edgerunners, I thought it was an excellent touch to have Adam Smasher's cyber persona flash momentarily looking like a total monster while Lucy was trying to hack him. Lends strength to the notion that he can't go standard cyber psycho- he basically doesn't perceive of himself as human. Also fwiw it seemed to me that David's ass was cooked as soon as he got in the cyber skeleton. Just a matter of time. Anyways, good anime.
@@Basil_IeafBut after Lucy left he immediately reverted back to cyberpsycho. Arasaka/Militech only wanted him to test the suit, they never intended on him surviving. Prototypes don't typically work the first time do they?
@Gyrfalcon312Fuck watched the show in 2024 and i have to admit that it gets to its point...i was expecting a cliché ending or atleast that the mc would have survived but i think that the one we got is the most well resembling one of the lore and the reality itself, where you couldnt powerup randomly or beat everything or everyone on the verge of death only thanks to your will or hopes. Afterall life is life and it doesnt forgives anyone. 10/10 with honesty 🎉🎉
Btw I think that the skeleton was kinda nerfing david against smasher...to bulky and with only gravitational attacks that couldnt harm smashers body...and as adam stated before their encounter couldnt even stand straight without the gravitational Force given by its motors...it was definitely better against militech army but not against him.
This guy killed characters we fell in love with in both the anime and Cyberpunk. He also killed both the legends David and Johnny. They made sure you wanted to put a bullet in his head
Durring the assault on Arasaka tower, Johnny may not actually have confronted Smasher. The scene we see in the game is a heavily distorted memory that Johnny has convinced himself to be the truth. Johnny has mixed his actions and Morgans actions up and merged them together in his mind. You cant trust Johnnys' memory in the game, not because hes lying, but because he genuinely misremembers the events.
He confronted Smasher for a good 3 seconds before he was mowed down just as easily as every other grunt. Everything after the scene of Adam shooting Johnny on the ground was altered memories.
@@CabageBeans That was less of a confrontation and more of an ambush that Johnny was a victim of. He may have seen Smasher, but not for long. Just long enough for his mind to get the seeds that eventually grow into the delusions he sees as honest memory.

Nobody, not one single character, in all of Cyberpunk 2077 got done dirtier than Shaitan. The dude was an absolute legend of Night City, a one-man army who managed to wage a personal war against Arasaka for *years* and actually survived fighting Adam Smasher one-on-one long enough to buy most of Johnny's crew time to escape. Smasher ripped out Shaitan's biopod (the capsule containing a full-borg's remaining 'ganic components) to stop him, but it would be retrieved (by Spider) and integrated into a new body. The game reduces him to a single appearance with two lines who fires a machine gun very badly, then he gets domed by a stray round and is never seen in action again. I know the events are depicted solely from Johnny's perspective (completely omitting Blackhand and the Militech spec-ops) but damn.
All who didn’t know his Lore be like „Look, The D*ckhead who killed Rebecca !“ but those who played CP 2077 know he is described as a Legend only to be a Disappointing Bossfight
Wish CDPR would buff his bossfight. Hell just redo it and give him unique animations. He seems to just share the big-brute type enemies animation and behavior.
With the context of Edgerunners being there, I think it makes V seem more powerful than Smasher. Even with all that tech, he still got tossed aside like a used condom.
And if you read up on the lore of 2013 and 2020 you would’ve believed him to be nigh unstoppable and be even more disappointed on how much of a loser he was in-game.
A quick curious reminder that cyberpsychosis isn't just an outright violent outburst in which you kill everything your eyes can see, but it can also manifest in a bunch of behavioral issues, such as misanthropy and overly sadistic tendencies, so yeah, dude's pretty much an overly intelligent cyberpsycho
Iirc it's even further described as a man who can't go cyberpsycho because he already was before the chrome. I don't remember the exact wording but it's essentially that

Cyberpsychosis is just psychosis with technical glitches. The funny part I find about Smasher is his relish for destruction and murder are pretty spot on for the players of 2077. He's an unironic murderhobo.
Technical glitches? It's more like seeing your self as a robot and everyone else as inferior/meat adam smasher is a cyberpsycho but he's high functioning the average person goes cyberpsycho and can't controll the violent urges and lack of impulse control but there is definitely a difference between the 2
Man….when I first realized that Smasher knew we were there the whole time during our heist scared me He fucking even tracks his eyes to the person talking line by line
I like to think V realised their own humanity when confronted with their mortality, making Smasher's death to them all the more satisfying. Or in others words, the indifferent cruelty of the universe gets fucked in the cyberanus by the indomitable human spirit wielding Becca's shotty
David was incredibly strong, but not very smart. V was both strong AND smart. The only combination to take out a guy like Smasher. Not really being able to die thanks to the Relic chips helps too. Pretty cool of the devs at CD Project Red to patch in a drink at the Afterlife in commemoration of David. It was a short run, but he did his thing.
I don’t believe they patched it in. I believe the drink was there from day one of release, because I remember theory’s on who the drink was about and then the first trailer for Edgerunners dropped
I'm really conflicted when it comes to Smasher. In Edgerunners he absolutely annihilated the main characters, which in all honesty was really badass and I loved every second where he was on screen. I'm still devastated about Rebecca's death though, like bro, come on man. I'm fine with him killing David since this guy overestimated himself ad infinitum, but Becca... :( Then again, Adam Smasher is just *SO GODDAMN COOL* They kinda did my man dirty in the game as well with his bossfight being a complete joke. Being beaten by a half dead V kinda really takes away from him being this unkillable machine and in my opinion one of the worst offenders when it comes to plot armor (unless anyone can change my mind and explain to me with lore reasons why this guy is stronger than smasher). Anyways, thanks for making the video choom. Edit: I also really hope Adam Smasher isn't dead yet. I didn't kill him in my playthrough, and even if the majority of players did, I can't think of a reason why Arasaka wouldn't have a backup or a construct of him lying around somewhere. He was indeed one of their most valuable assets, I don't think a corporation such as Arasaka would let this go to waste in case he actually bit the dust in one of his missions.
My first time finishing the game was basically my introduction to the character. I didn't know anything about him unless it was given out in game.Honestly, I was expecting to face of against Smasher in a team v solo match... and it was, but only it was the opposite of what I expected. I thought the big finale was going to be me, Rogue, and the Alacados vs some Ship of Theseus also known as Atom Smasher. You know, the immortal robot that at least in theory was a man born more less a century earlier. A former man that has spent all that time upgrading himself with whatever makes him a more formidable wrecking machine. What I got was... not that... and underwhelming. Don't get me wrong, the gameplay was awesome. I really enjoyed it. Lore and storytelling wise though, it was meh.
reading some shards you can find out that some rich guys have multiple copies of construct as backup so it's not impossible that we'll see another Smasher, but as constructs are, they're just copies and the real one is dead. Still, with Mikoshi destroyed/assimilated into Alt, not sure if their soulkiller/secure your soul program still available. Still would be terrifying if they made an army of Smasher.
v’s simply a better combatant than smasher 🤷🏾♂️ no lore reason he simply had adams number. lol It’s really not that hard to believe look at V’s feats throughout the game, stopping cyberpsychoes solo and keeping them alive in the process, beating oda etc. He’s basically being set up to be the Blackhand of his generation which isn’t hard to believe I mean Blackhand for all intense and purpose was a normal man who just happened to be better than his peers in his respective field that’s just life some people are simply better at stuff then others Blackhand didn’t have a special childhood or some advantage given to him that others didn’t he simply was born with his talents the same can be said for smasher and now the same could be said about V he’s simply very talented at what he can do
@@Reese91momo talents are is an andavntage you are born with and black hand isn’t a normal man by any metric. Full borgs seem to be almost retconned in 2077. Maybe there's a lore reason for there not being any anymore besides Smasher (and maybe Lizzy Wizzy? It's unclear) but I haven't found one. Even Shaitan, who's supposed to be a metalhead just looks like a normal guy with armour plating, and he goes down to one stray bullet so I think in game he's just meant to be a normal human. Maybe this change was made to make Adam seem more special, but back in the 2020s even fire departments or construction companies would hire borgs.

I wish the game would have a stat-check. Where if you over-equip yourself with upgrades before entering Adam Smasher’s boss fight, it will trigger you to fight David Smasher instead. And David Smasher gives player only 1 second to react, before moving to them at super-speed and instantly killing them (100% total HP damage). Bust less enemies - have less of a headache.
I never found its flight so dissapointing as some people claim, but that's probably because I like to keep my V's health low in my builds, as I enjoy getting as much damage as I can cause to my enemies. Anyway, Sasko confirmed they know Smasher should be more cohesive with his appearence in edgerunners, which hopefully hints at a future rework
I gotta question for everyone. Dies anyone else think the reason why Adam smasher never went psycho and always comes back is because he was turned into an engram similar to Johnny silver hand
Unlikely, though if V doesn't kill him at the end, they Could do that later on. When you scan him it says 96% mechanical, meaning he has at least his brain left.
Interesting how Adam never succumbed to cyber psychosis seeing as he’s 99% machine at that point. I wonder how he was able to fend that off his whole life, especially towards the end.
Cyberpsychosis isn't a garuntee or anything, it very much depends on the person with the implants, someone with next to no humanity won't go cyberpsycho, and obviously since he's full borg and probably barely has any humanity left, it's unlikely anything would make him go psycho, that explanation is because the og board game worked like that, more humanity u have the more likelihood u turn cyberpsycho when heavily chromed. And once again being full borged would probably allow for easier upgrades, it's not like he's got a human body anymore, non of the things he adds even effects him, just part of what's already there tbh cyberpsychosis probably isn't even a thing for him
Okay I didn't explain that 100% correctly, the less empathetic or mentally stable u are the more susceptible you are to it, would make sense for smasher to have a consistent chill mental state, he is the best of the best after all
@@rushpatriot2866 Not just the anime. Even in cyberpunk2020 Smasher was a nightmare, especially with the Dai-Oni power armour he rocks in the final adventure.
for a character who has such a memorable introduction, Smasher is still one of the worst handled aspects of 2077. being relegated to essentially a sidequest just made no sense and killing him in the one real encounter you had was just poor planning. in my mind Adam Smasher should of been treated like a walking apocalypse, having multiple encounters where you have to survive Smasher and escape him as he is sent to counter your efforts until the final confrontation. scenes like trying to escape Adam Smasher by car for him to simply run at you full speed and swatting cars away like flies. a cat and mouse chase through a building of trying to do everything you can to hold him back while Adam runs through walls effortlessly to keep you on your toes, barely even trying as he tests if your even worth the effort, for you to have to bring the building down on top of him just to escape. all leading up to your final battle, the result of which should be profound devastation and requiring the help of of various allies to all pick away at his defenses that would of had him basically unkillable beforehand. one way you could make the fight more interesting. allow Adam Smasher to use all types of operating systems, Berserk, Cyberdeck, and Sandevistan, and in the final faze, all at once. not only this but he should be able to use optical camo along with other cyberware abilities completely unique to him. Adam is supposed to be a walking arsenal of destruction after all.
I agree except with the last bit I think it feels more fulfilling as a player to beat a boss without the assistance of other characters in my first run I got the don’t fear the reaper ending simply due to the fact that 1 I did intentionally choose the right options for Johnnys side quests and 2 i didn’t want endanger other people and I wanted to do the mission by myself so I just stood there eating my options I feel like while he should be hard to face extremely hard he should still be able to be a character that V beats
The fact V killed Adam Smasher only shows how powerful V/Silverhand combo is at the cost of him dying. 2 personalities in a brain allowing him/her to get incredibily chromed without cyberspychosis while also being incredibly experienced merc (no matter his/her background). Everytime someone tries to claim Martinez could kill V.... In the end, V was a legend on par with people like Smasher or Blackhand. David even in his prime was simply "very good yet just another merc"
Ya idk how I feel about him being a victim of circumstance on becoming a full mech man. In my mind I always thought he was such a bloodthirsty monster that he chose himself to get rid of pretty much all his organic body so he could be the best killer possible.
i still cant believe david believed that he was special and was the only one who had a sandy?🤣 especially after him facing that big brute with the hammer

The best way I can describe Smasher is as a reverse-Grievous. Which makes no sense considering V is just some lucky rando with Silverhand in his head

You're not wrong, I can only hope that CDPR have changed it in the Edgerunners patch or will do so with the DLC. I know a lot of fans have a lot of hate they need to take out on him, all the videos of people killing him with a big purple phallus is testament to that.

Then again, Adam Smasher is just *SO GODDAMN COOL*
They kinda did my man dirty in the game as well with his bossfight being a complete joke.
I'd say smasher will be back in the next game because he survived a nuke being dropped on him even before he was a full borg
v’s simply a better combatant than smasher 🤷🏾♂️ no lore reason he simply had adams number. lol It’s really not that hard to believe look at V’s feats throughout the game, stopping cyberpsychoes solo and keeping them alive in the process, beating oda etc.
I still don’t agree with a layman way of saying that v is just better because tbh with in all honesty there really shouldn’t be any way he beat smasher based on tech abilities when what David had in the show with his exoskeleton should out rival anything v has to offer.
And once again being full borged would probably allow for easier upgrades, it's not like he's got a human body anymore, non of the things he adds even effects him, just part of what's already there tbh cyberpsychosis probably isn't even a thing for him

for a character who has such a memorable introduction, Smasher is still one of the worst handled aspects of 2077. being relegated to essentially a sidequest just made no sense and killing him in the one real encounter you had was just poor planning.
in my mind Adam Smasher should of been treated like a walking apocalypse, having multiple encounters where you have to survive Smasher and escape him as he is sent to counter your efforts until the final confrontation.
scenes like trying to escape Adam Smasher by car for him to simply run at you full speed and swatting cars away like flies.
a cat and mouse chase through a building of trying to do everything you can to hold him back while Adam runs through walls effortlessly to keep you on your toes, barely even trying as he tests if your even worth the effort, for you to have to bring the building down on top of him just to escape.
all leading up to your final battle, the result of which should be profound devastation and requiring the help of of various allies to all pick away at his defenses that would of had him basically unkillable beforehand. one way you could make the fight more interesting.
allow Adam Smasher to use all types of operating systems, Berserk, Cyberdeck, and Sandevistan, and in the final faze, all at once.
not only this but he should be able to use optical camo along with other cyberware abilities completely unique to him. Adam is supposed to be a walking arsenal of destruction after all.

@@filipbitala2624yup just checked and it's "in the midst" of the game so before whatever ending.
Ya idk how I feel about him being a victim of circumstance on becoming a full mech man. In my mind I always thought he was such a bloodthirsty monster that he chose himself to get rid of pretty much all his organic body so he could be the best killer possible.
Great video! I can see a lot of effort went into putting this video together
Well for the next 20+ minutes I’m a happy chappy XD
Great vid and solid deep lore. Subscribed
i still cant believe david believed that he was special and was the only one who had a sandy?🤣 especially after him facing that big brute with the hammer
I THOUGHT THAT BRUTE HAD A SANDY! anyway, he definitely was special in his resilience, idk anyone else who was spamming the sandy constantly
Ngl he was special. He had such a high tolerance for cyberware unlike most people. But even he had his limits.
Rip my boy David
@@Sleepai nobody is immune except full borgs
He absolutely was special. His affinity for cyberware was basically unmatched. Why else would Arasaka have taken any interest in him?
Also he never thought he was the only one with a Sandevistan. It's just a rare piece of cyberware so encountering someone else with one is unlikely.
@@imonke5303 full borgs are not immune to cyber psychosis. They simply haven’t succumbed yet. And are much more prone to given their transformation that the typical individual
Seeing edge runners being incorperated into lore videos is just so damn satisfying to see
I honestly hope we get to see what happened to Morgan Blackhand, we don't know whether he's dead or alive. Would be good to see what Johnny tells you about Morgan Blackhand
Well done buddy! Great content keep up the good work man! You got my sub!
“Easily defeating 3 karate black belts” 5:19. Yeah I mean I don’t think karate couldn’t could stop a fully metal psychopath who has fucking rockets on every part of his body
Between his few moments in the show, and the game, I wish he had more spoken lines. His voice and delivery is absolutely bone chilling, every time he talks.
Adam Smasher vs Frank Horrigan that would be awesome fight to see.
Tack!
18:38 its just a piece of code that allows all bosses to see you at all times. the same happens during the ambush with panam. although you are hidden, threat detector still says the boss of the raffen can see you.
Great vid. I'm doing another play through on update 2.1. These vids are getting me immersed in the world
You forgot something important, that cold hearted borg actually had a girlfriend which she was an Arasaka and she was really into Adam and for the person which he is.
Under all that chrome he's still got a heart. A supercharged and mechanically enhanced heart, but a heart nonetheless.
@@Mayo_Magician does he have a robo peen tho?
@@piratekingthaszar7912 how do you think he got the name smasher?
@@nathanrigger15 by smashing his sister. repeatedly.
@@piratekingthaszar7912 Honestly He's probably got something for every and any occasion.
Nice lore video, good voice. Just got into cyberpunk after watching edgerunners and the game after that. Looking forward to watching more about Legends i keep hearing about but got little idea of who they are.
I love these videos. Keep it up
Great vid!
my only problem with cyberpunk 2077 was when the game first came out i thought i could mod out my body like adam smasher and maybe suffer cyber-psychosis as the game progresses with johnny talking into my head as the game finishes 🤔 i wish i could do that or at least something, i mean i really love cyberpunk 2077 and how the world was made but i feel like theres parts of the game or story that feels rushed like jackies story ,i just wished that every npc was likable like pannam ,Rouge, or river like very flushed out characters but at the same time i wish there was more interactive enemies like Adam smasher where we can smack talk them throughout the story or have funny combacks when they try to intimidate v but ,ngl i really liked how he looked the the edge runners anime tho ,i feel like smasher should have a trophy of david or something from him when he flatlined him in the amine like in his secret stash like his spine implant or a hologram of him or pieces of him😌😌🤔🤔🤔 like how they did with jackie
The fact he considers the sandevistan a simple upgrade while that upgrade kills even the strongest military trained men is baffling to me. He is a walking talking weapon at the command of the corps
Adam Smasher!!! Hell yeah!!
Hey, any chance you could do like a mini lore video about Metro 2033's Bourbon?🥃
I feel sorry for Martinez not having a Delamain to rescue him.
Considering I just beat the game for the third time on a new toon. "Getting the 'dont fear the reaper' ending/ "The Sun". I absolute loved this video.
Learning about all the lore for smasher and the settle nod of mentioning the legends that were killed by him. I'd love to see more videos and as for smasher.
Since we didn't completely destroy him "Wasn't really given the option or can't physically". I hope they bring him back as DLC and allow him to be MUCH tougher. Since on the hardest difficulty, he's still somewhat of a pushover.
I could see him coming back spamming sandi and depending on the ending for your character. He could mention either certain characters that he killed on your run OR mentioning how "Haven't been beat that badly by a meatbag since blackhand. That WON'T happen again!" Or something along those lines.
Either way, I look forward to any more DLC we get and I hope we get a proper adam fight. Since he's been known to return from the dead~
Also, you earned my sub from this video~ I'm lookin to stay awhile.
Yes!! This is the one I've been waiting for 🤟
Something tells me Smasher wouldn't be opposed to having his mind copied...
Honestly, it does make sense he can't go into cyberpsychosis because if you're insane already then I guess you're just drinking water in a pool at that point.
Love your videos, pls do the chimera from resistance game series 🙏.
The best way I can describe Smasher is as a reverse-Grievous. He was disappointing and anti-climatic when he first came out (Which he still is to my knowledge), but when the anime came up he was given the respect they deserve. They were both hyped to be this boogeyman, where very few people could hurt them, let alone kill them, but when the time came they were jokes.
Smasher has more character than I thought. Wow. If only I could become a cyborg.
Adam smasher had a full office with a computer and chair. I like to think he still has to check his emails and such after a job
The worst thing with this Adam Smasher is that he was way to easy to kill in the game 😪
I haven't even engaged with Cyberpunk beyond Edgerunners and some lore videos, but I fucking love Smashers. No-holds-barred fucking nutcase with the brass and balls to boot
More robot than human.
