      @@sion7651I don’t get the net runner hype tbh. I’ve tried multiple times since launch to get into a netrunner build and always have ended up switching. It’s the most incredibly boring and unintuitive way to play the game imo. I mean I get that it’s op af, but that play style was just never enjoyable to me. I guess I’m more of a shotty run into the action kinda person, or a stealth pistol/throwing knife guy. Throwing knife is what I’m running for my current playthrough and it’s insanely fun and satisfying.

    The trick to Blackwall is to use the cut paste perk, and upload it on a netrunner that is trying to hack you. That way, it uploads for free on EVERYONE, killing entire encounters with a silenced shot to get the net runner to try and hack you and a single hack

    BTW, you can greatly increase the upload speed of Blackwall Gateway (or any other hack) simply by having it second or later in the queue. Having it queued also allows you to upload it to multiple enemies at once provided you have sufficient RAM, as you don't get blocked from using the hack until it has started uploading on at least one enemy. Since the enemy is going to be dead once the hack loads anyway (and it effectively guarantees detection), any 2 RAM hack will do.

      The 'green' version of reboot optics is what I use because of the Embedded Exploit lvl. 2 trait (also great synergy with Subordination trait too). My go-to sequence is to pop Overclock, start loading the 1-2 combo of RO+Synapse Burnout on a few enemies, use (or have it automatically used if you drop too low on health) the bloodpump to trigger Adrenaline Rush + Juggernaut before the first SB gets executed and then load more RO+SB, rinse and repeat.

    • @nathandam6415
      @nathandam6415 2 місяці тому +2

      This works on any ultimate quickhack by the way, except for cyberpsychosis which is weird for some reason. The restriction (or ram reduction) is only added/removed once the quickhack begins upload.
      Edit: The self-destroy, detonate grenade and system collapse quickhacks have ram reduction built into their kit, and this effect is removed upon upload. Big asterisk, *upon upload.* Meaning you can queue ultimate quickhacks after a filler quickhack (ping, tier 5 reboot optics, memory wipe, etc) and still benefit from their ram reduction on multiple targets. System Collapse in particular is pretty nasty for a pure stealth netrunner build because you can queue more expensive quickhacks. Keep in mind that Data Recycler refunds 80% ram cost per quickhack in a queue, but if you dip into your health pool it's actually 160% during overclock, combined with the Sublimation perk. So it effectively pays for itself.

    • @IMBAIT
      @IMBAIT Місяць тому +2

      Something to note however, is this only works on the initial upload of Blackwall Gateway. Placing it second in the Q makes it upload fast but it slows down after jumping to another enemy, then speeds up again. Also doesn’t help at all VS Smasher which is a shame

    The thing I love about netrunning in 2077, despite it not being the mechanic I really wanted, is how versatile it is. Nearly every build and playstyle can benefit from a nicely fitted netdeck, often in ways berserk and sandy can't manage. And the runner focused builds are so interesting and varied just on their own. With a bit of creativity, you can really be spoiled for choice in how you engage with any given encounter.

      I keep going back to the Sandy personally, maybe I just don't have the patience for netrunning. I think it's the tracking and the visual glitches you suddenly get from it, find it really annoying. Self-ICE and Sandy just feels more straight forward to me. One dimensional perhaps but easier on the eyes at least.

  • @electrified0
    @electrified0 3 місяці тому +16

    System collapse on the Arasaka deck just feels so right for a stealth netrunner build. Sometimes overclock causes your quickhacks to spread causing accidental trace progression, and in those scenarios it goes down to 4 cost becoming a cheaper memory wipe that also 1 shots anything short of a boss. Not to mention there's just something to be said for hitting overclock and literally 1 shotting an enemy, something about it is more satisfying than any of the 1 shot combos.

    • @janritter3116
      @janritter3116 3 місяці тому +5

      It's a bit sad how much he keeps sleeping on netgunning / netsniping. Not everyone wants to play their hacker as a 20 body tank who goes all in on HP. Unfortunately, you're railroaded into Overclock quite heavily. Not what I was looking for, so I ended up with a cyberdeck but don't use Overclock. And together with a sniper, that's still incredible. Reboot Optics + Cyberware Malfunction + Cyberware Malfunction + Sonic Shock gives a +60% damage bonus for your headshots or even 75% with the Rippler cyberdeck (which, just like Reboot Optics, he rated unfairly low imho) and then does the head bop you mentioned.
      Against smaller enemies, you don't even need all these bonuses, Memory Wipe + Reboot Optics is enough to drop skull enemies on Very Hard with the Overwatch, and then you use the automatic spread to silently take out the rest. If the spread triggers a netrunner trace, use Memory Wipe again to reduce progress, which also makes Systems Collapse cheaper.
      And when all hell breaks loose or you get into a boss fight, take out Breakthrough with all these damage buffs stacked, activate Kerenzikov, and a single bolt shot will probably be enough to trigger the next fight phase.
      I'm not looking for killing enemies via menu selection with a simplified one-trick cyberdeck, I prefer still having to aim and shoot while planning out my approach and applying the right modifiers, so these hacks and cyberdecks come in super handy even if Sam underrates them because he is usually testing stuff with one build instead of comparing each thing's maximum.

    Honestly, I don't know why everyone says "Sonic Shock is broken"... it does *exactly* what it *says* it does. Deafens them. Lowers their ability to detect you (as in see you when stealthed, can't hear your clunky feet as well). Scrambles their comms (as in cannot communicate with others, no calling for help "They are right here!"). And of course the Cloak.
    Lowering the trace was nice, but never listed in the description. Makes it, in essence, a lot like asking them to "please bring back that one time with that one exploit I loved..."
    Go ahead, I am certain many amateur hackers online are ready to prove their leet skillz... hack something, without being traced. Without leaving a huge trail *right to you.*
    Of *course* lowering your trace is a high end ability, not a low end one. You can detect enemy hacks direction as well. Even hilights em.
    One skill says it will lower trace. *no others do,* and it ain't Sonic Shock.
    Sonic shock deals with the enemy's ability to deal with you in meatspace.
    Memory Wipe in cyberspace.
    Be thankful they don't use those two on you.

    Very nicely done! I'm mostly running ninja netrunner builds. What works really good for me is to use tier 3/4 short circuits + contagion in quick succession of one another, what's important here is that I run those on Raven or Arasaka cyberdecks. The Raven lets your first hack spread onto everyone in the vicinity and has increased range, while the Arasaka deck is really good economically cuz it reduces the hack costs and detection time. I normally use the Arasaka deck until I'm around level 25 and use the Raven up from there.

    One thing about reboot optics is that it can completely take out the majority of cyber psychos, apart from those in mech suits and the desert sniper. I didn't think it would work but you can simply reboot optics and walk up to them to choke them out. It's almost hilarious how easy it is and how much it removes from the encounters.

Haven't settled on which ones i like best even after about 80 hours in game. So far i generally do a memory wipe, double cyberware malfunction, short circuit to deal with anyone stealthily. In combat, I'll generally use cyberware malfunction and cripple movement for enemy management and contagion, short circuit and overheat for damage. This has given me some ideas on how to better set up my quick hacks.

    I've found that in the super late game with Engineer 55, Chain Lightning sets targets on fire, allowing all tech weapons utilizing Bolt to ignite Contagion. It's very awkward to set up but the results are bloody satisfying, especially with a Kneel and Wallpuncher Satara.
    If you really like seeing big numbers with the Tetratronic Rippler Mk. 5, using Synapse Burnout third in the queue followed by a non-control quick hack fourth in queue increases the damage output by an additional 40%. It may be less RAM efficient but is a great way to show who's the best Netrunner in Night City.

    Just a little side note for the fellow netrunner builds. This is useful throughout the game, but is amazing when you are max level. So basically when you have breached a lot of access point on the city and getting lvl 3 daemons ( basically datamining a quickhack ), if you do this a lot, you have a gold mine waiting there. When you are max level and you have multiple legendary quickhacks of the same thing, you can basically sell the extras and they sell for a very pretty penny.
    Discovered this later in my games but after just selling all the extra hacks I made like 4 million Eddies, deffo recommend this, just atleast keep one quickhack of each.

    here's a chain "self-destroy" combo:
    -get the knife finisher perk, hold a knife (any knife, tier doesn't matter)
    -cast bait on an enemy, lure him away from his friends
    -cast tier 4 memo wipe and tier 2 overheat on him, wait for his health to drop low
    -when prompted, do the knife execution
    -3*iconic sonic shock + "self-destroy" on the remaining enemies, for only 2+2+2+(24/2-10)=8 ram each
    p.s. forgo the bait and memo wipe if you don't care about stealth
    p.p.s. don't use higher tier overheat or the enemy will burn out too fast for you to execute
    p.p.p.s. don't use iconic "self-destruct", it's bugged to not reduce ram, regular tier 5 is fine

    • @michaelp4387
      @michaelp4387 2 місяці тому +1

      and a "grand blackout" combo:
      (alternatively, a way to somewhat justify the tier 5 memory wipe)
      -choose a gonk in a group, cast [3* tier-2 reboot optics + tier-5 memo wipe]
      -now quickly cast [tier-2 reboot optics + iconic sonic shock] on everyone
      -blackout for everyone
      step 1 puts tier 5 memo wipe on the 4th slot of a queue, making it much cheaper and faster to upload. I call this the "initiation", costing 2+2+2+32/2=22 ram
      step 2 works because tier 5 memo wipe is actually an AOE effective on everyone in the group, so you only need another [reboot optics+sonic shock] to complete the combo. This costs only 2+2=4 ram per enemy, super cheap.
      with tetratonic deck and ram reallocator, you effectively have about 60 ram at your disposal, so 22 ram for the initiation, and you can tap out about 10 enemies without even entering overclock mode, enough to clear out an entire camp.

    Blackwall Gateway is by far #1. It can wipe full room of enemies with much more style than other things and it can literally wipe anything below 33% health. The only reason someone can argue about it is that just like Quantum Tuner, it is difficult to optimize but trust me, upload Blackwall on one enemy and right before it hits, activate Overclock and watch people scream in front of your eyes, if there are some tankier enemies work on them with other quick hacks.

Before Phantom Liberty, in conjunction with Optical Camo, you could stealth anywhere without firing a shot or alerting a single enemy. Now I lean hard on Sonic Shock for stealth. Sonic Shock, silenced pistol, and good aim, you can take down a whole base stealthily, though it's not non-lethal.

    When using the (EXCELLENT) Shadowrunner mod on PC, Bait and Request Backup become essential to get shadow, ghost and hero optional objectives. There are some missions/events where there is simply no way to avoid being seen while getting the objectives without these two hacks. Using them in combination makes these missions way more feasible for the optional objectives.
    Also using bait/request backup/etc is essential to get a threatening enemy from taking out an innocent NPC, for saving them for a "hero" objective.

    while its hard to deny you could basically clear the entire game just by using memory wipe + synapse burnout i actually really enjoy to sometimes just use the cyberdeck as a supplement to my other playstyles to weaken enemies with weapon glitch and cripple movement and then take them out with other means.
    Tho i have to admit running around late game with a militech canto and lots of cyberware to reduce upload speed its actually really satisfying to use the blackkwall hack in a similar way contagion worked in pre 2.0. since you can upload it multiple times if its not the first hack you upload you can just upload it as 2nd hack on 3-4 enemies and then have it spread to everyone
    (Side note the only reason why its even possible to upload this many blackwall hacks is because one of the perks in the tech tree resets health items on every kill when you are low health yourself so that gives you almost infinite ram but make sure to leave a little gap between the uploads. I managed to kill myself a few times by having the hack spread in the same moment using up all health before the next health item could reset)

    Blackwall gateway would be #1 on your list if you knew that uploading sonic shock first to each target allows you to upload multiple instances of blackwall gateway, which will each individually spread to 5 additional people.
    I run Canto Mk. 6 with only sonic shock equipped, enter overclock, and go “sonic shock > gateway” on as many enemies as I can before the first blackwall hack begins to upload, which is when it stops letting you stack them on other enemies.
    I have had 5 stars, used this, and completely emptied the streets and escaped in broad daylight in mere seconds. No idea if this is an oversight, but this alone makes it the best for me by light years.

    System collapse coupled with overclock will drop entire groups in a breeze without allerting anyone. You can easily walk into a room, drop 5 enemies within second and still have not allerted anyone. It doesn't matter that you're losing a bunch of life if you're using heartpump and automatic healing at 50% HP cyberware. Since you're out of combat still you're generating the lost life (and healthboosters) back within seconds.
    The relevant part about System Collapse is that it doesn't initiate trace progress so you can just walz into any location and just drop people left and right. Sometimes you just got to wait a bit until overclock is available again.
    Sure, for bigger crowds and boss fights you still need other ways of dealing damage but then you just switch to overclocked (extra spread ->) Contagion + Overheat -> explosion combo and let loose with an automatic smart weapon (instant look-on while overclocked) to clean up whoever is still standing. Bosses I'll use weapon glitch, cyberware malfunction etc. and also unload with whatever automatic smart weapon while overclocked to automatically hammer all the weak spots.
    I'm playing on "very hard" difficulty so this is viable. But it also feels like even on "very hard" everything is viable, if you put some thought into your build.

    You should really try axolotl a try with Blackwall Gateway. I turned it into something similar to your endless Sandevistan build. My current build has ~27 ram which is enough to start the gateway chain on a weaker enemy, let it bounce to a 2nd with my remaining RAM and then overclocking before the 2nd upload finishes. Each upload adds time to Overclock (with Overclock starting on the 3rd upload allowing for basically 2 free kills) which will allow you to just pump out bounces until the enemies run out. If they somehow survive my entire overclock duration I have enough RAM on kill and recovery to spend all my RAM on Blackwall Gateway and get it back by the time the upload finishes allowing me to immediately upload it again which will typically give me Overclock back. From there you just focus on standard healing Cyberwear and the tech healing perks to let you safely spend your HP

    While detonate grenade is definitely nerfed, I still use it in my melee monowire build to stun or knockdown distant enemies shooting at me, and considering it can knockdown groups of enemies it is quite useful this way. Pairing it with contagion on enemies other than Tyger Claws and Wraiths (who have EMPs and Biohazard grenades respectively) also causes a mass toxic explosion if used properly on groups. Also, big boom makes man happy. Weapon Glitch is also useful for stopping enemies momentarily, but it is somewhat inconsistence in my experience.

    imo Reboot Optics' best feature is the little 2-second animation it puts on enemies when you first cast it on them as they take a second to hold their head and notably can't chase or shoot at you while doing so. even works on boss type cyberpsychos. since opening your scanner to select quickhacks slows the game to a pause while you pick targets, you can even slap it on a group while you're standing right in front of them. that extra 2 seconds to fire at them, grenade, upload more hacks, and/or run away is huge. tier 2 reboot optics stayed on my deck 1-60.

    System reset, suicide and weapon glitch are the only quickhacks I ever use, since they made short circuit traceable. • @RiverIndustries1151

    something that you are overlooking is the power of enemies when you change up the difficulty, many of these hacks become useless when it comes to end game very hard mode. I use contagion-cyberpsycho-wepon glitch-imobolize-grenade/s almost exclusively and the power of that combo cannot be understated when you have uploaded the psycho to the skull enemies in a group and then upload contagion to the weaker enemies, they group up because that is the pathing of enemy types, grenade and overheat, AND THEN I join the fray with double barrel shotgun/explosive rounds/EMP damage/s /auto heals/health boosts. I watch these videos of 5 star NCPD runs where its all flashy and "kill the maxtech guys when they land" kind of things but i never have to deal with that because when they land they land in a group of enemies that will ALL just turn on them, while they are turning on themselves. the fundamental through process is "why do i need to be limited by my health bar/items when i can use the enemies weapons AND health bar as my own". yes its cool to drop 3 or 4 enemies with a combo of overclock, memory wipes, burn, stealth, but what happens when there are 10 enemies.... 20 enemies.... 30... I had a random spawn of 4 skull mercs chasing me, im at 3 stars because of my EMP that killed a bunch of people on the street while i was killing their VIP, I ram into a second group of 14 on the stairs of the stadium (half skull) with 4 robots, more gunners are rushing in from across the street +10(1/4 skull), Im up at 5 stars pretty quick because im killing cops and standard enemies at the same time, and maxtech comes on down for the party, 32 enemies. when maxtech dropped it was an ABSOLUTE SHITSHOW but contagion-cyberpsycho-wepon glitch-imobolize-grenade/s is the only thing that can overcome that because if all eyes are on you then it usually only takes 6-8 enemies to actually kill you out of a large group of 12-15 but if all enemies are just fighting each other then you cant reach that 6 enemy threashhold, if you cant reach that threashhold then your backup health regen-cover-health boosts-heals can deal with the 3-4 enemies that are actually fighting you

    System collapse in combination with Overclock is incredible for taking down small groups of enemies stealthily.

    Reboot Optics is quite OP tbh. I have been playing on max difficulty for the first time and that hack has stood out twice during main story missions.
    1. Was when you have to fight Placide, or as I call him Flacide. For some reason he start unaware of you so if you reboot his optics you can just use a letal takedown.
    2. Was when we were with Takemura after the parade. One we were attacked and V wakes up, I waited a bit, double jumped to the floor where he was, I took down all three enemies with the letal take down and reboot optics.
    My conclusion is that on very hard difficulty there are many situations where reboot optics can make a very significant impact because a whole boss and three enemies side by side (when you are playing the way I play which is rather minimalistic before lvl 40) is literally the difference between several minutes in a fight where you can die in 3 shots or even a soft lock risk, and progression.

    Netrunning in stealth is my style. My go to quickhacks are, system reset, reboot optics, memory wipe, those types

    As a general rule in games like this, enemies have more health than you do. So grenades that would kill you, don't do much damage to them.
    So detonate grenade probably isn't bugged. It just doesn't have its damage grossed up to be worthwhile.

    I like to use weapon glitch and cripple movement on enemies and then get really close to them with my power double barrel shotgun infused with explosive rounds mode and a 100% dismemberment chance mode as well as the hands cyberware which makes the first round after a reload deal explosive dmg(and since its a double barrel shotgun each time you fire it does electric dmg too) and this gun will one shot almost any normal enemy and kills maxtax and bosses super easy too. Just a fun use for weapon glitch since its not easy to get super close to some enemies with powerful automatic guns without it specially in a netrunner build

    Ive used Weapon Glitch on an NPC using an iconic - they drop the iconic, then produce a 2nd copy of the iconic and continue shooting at me.
    After they are down, I can loot the iconic they dropped AND the same iconic that is meant to be their loot on their corpse.
