Finally getting around to basing my armies after like 15 years, and these videos are really useful. Between this and your Kill Team tutorial you've made some of the most useful videos I've found on the hobby
I have been using Pro Acryl Fine Basing Textures. But that is opaque when it dries. I will give this a try also.. Your bases are awesome! Love the one you painted under the texture.
This product is a substance called "Pumice Gel" and if you look around you can get coarse, medium, and fine grits from other manufacturers for less $ per ounce than the vallejo.
Yes, you can glue on top. Sometimes the superglue can leave a white residue but for this theme it would blend in. I'll be adding extra snow around the feet to make it a tidy fit. I'll also be making some models on the base and then just using the tool to spread the paste around the feet. I mostly do my miniatures this way.
Im using this vallejo texture paint to add a texture to a diorama im making. Will it also act as a good basing glue if i add some random patches of static grass while it’s still wet?
It's pretty string when set. Yes, when it's wet I've added static grass, flocks, gravel sized stones, twigs, and even plastic skulls, works really well for that. Have fun with your diorama! Share it on FB group if you like, be cool to see it: facebook.com/groups/832315318201457
I've used it on large bases like the 6" round one for Krondys and it worked really well. I don't see why you couldn't scale it up to larger than that. If you have some mounds, I'd be tempted to glue something underneath (clay/a stone) so you don't have to use loads of the paste
@@tabletopskirmishgames I'm doing a beach diorama and this would be excellent... it would take quite a few tubs, but I can't see a good alternative other than using a coat of modpodge and sprinkling tile ground or sand over?

Better late than never! 🤣 Thanks so much, glad the videos have helped.
Wow they are so amazng, Great job Lee, So easy and straightforward with that big pot of texture paint.
Thanks! So glad I got these. The Brown Earth one is fantastic too.
Great job! I love the grey pumice, it’s so versatile!
Thank you! It's really awesome. I'm going to try and mix it with colour paint as someone suggested here in the comments. Should speed things up a bit!
Massive value for money!
These are awesome. I'll get a few more as the year plays out.
The best white I have ever used is Liquitex Professional Titanium White Heavy Body Acrylic,
(thin it down to paint with). Give it a go.
Nice one, thanks for the recommend!
Most of acrylic gels, you can mix in whatever color you like. It should also work with vallejo texture paints.
Oh nice one, mixing in white paint will save a load of time! Thank you for this.
Nice review and guide.
Thank you! This is great stuff.
A common recommendation for white I've seen is heavy body titanium white craft paint. One tube will last you a lifetime.
Thanks, I'll have a look for that.
So cool, love your work
Thank you so much!
Awesome tutorial my dude! Some great looking pieces~
Thanks! Love this stuff, great quality.

Nice one, thanks Mike. I'll take a look.
Good review
Thanks!
Hi Lee, well done, interesting video and nice result ! 12:31: what is the name of the citadel snow ? ... Blizzard?
Thank you! It's called Valhallan Blizzard Citadel Technical paint.
👍
This stuff is borderline a cheatcode. And cheap as dirt! Cheaper than dirt even!
It's awesome, love it.
any chance you could take a look at their snow ground texture?
Definitely, I'm keen to try lots of these.
That looks nice, but do you then glue your figure on top of the textured base? What if you have a mini already attached to the base?

if you have a mini attached to the base already, apply the paste (i use an old paint brush) then using a wet paint brush clean any left on the models

Would this work with basing a large diorama base?

Has anyone ever tried regular crackle paint?
I haven't but would be cool to hear if anyone has. It would save a load of money.
