"Get a filter or become the filter." Ooof. I felt that. I have always loved drinking water, and when I started to travel around the US, I found out that some states do not have water that tastes very good. Some tasted vaguely soapy to me. I suspect there may be a psychological issue with water not tasting great where a person is. Likewise, with sugar in so many things, we're all developing a "sweet tooth" when it comes to how liquids taste. Water filters aren't cheap but worth the money given how much you should drink a day to be hydrated. Dr. Li's approach to nutrition has always struck me as a positive one, so I'm happy to see him promoting his new book.

I don't drink. I might have one or two drinks a year. But my dad drank every day of his life since his 20s, and he is 94 now and in equal or better condition than most people his age. I don't think he drinks any more in his 90s. He has been careful in his eating, maintains a thin weight, and rarely eats sweets or processed foods - he has great willpower and was obviously born before the age of all this garbage food and does not eat it. Any study about alcohol that purposts to apply to all people seems to be disproved by my dad.
Like the Dr. says though and I agree, alcohol is not good for you, but if you are otherwise healthy with good habits it has no effect.
And I am talking about a guy who might have a beer during the day, wine at dinner, and a cocktail in the evening.
If I thought alcohol was good for health, I'd drink, but I don't think that and I don't drink alchohol - just because I don't like it.
What I really detest is how the media has become a garbage truck full of BS videos that all say different things, and I have to think this is a strategy of those companies that sell poison to people and want to hide it in all the noise they generate.

I can drink wine with dinner on occasion, or a beer with pizza ... but it's been a long time. I don't miss it a bit. When I was a teen in High School or college I'd hang with my friends, and they would buy 2 six packs and drink it in the time it took me to down a beer or two. My wild and crazy days! ;-)
Now I drink water, and I buy a seedless watermelon, cut it lengthwise in quarter and juice it to last for half a week - it's great. Or I get those mandarin oranges in a bag and juice those. Much cheaper and better than buying juice in containers - and I know exactly what is in it.

As I understand it, microplastics are not only in the ocean for fish to consume but they make it into water treatment facilities and go into tap water. The thing about "health benefits" of wine is this.
    Whatever "benefits" it may have...
    1. Are not specific to wine, and
    2. You could definitely get those "health benefits" in better quantity/quality from *other* sources.
It's not like wine has AMAZING benefits that you can only get from wine more than anything else.

I am like you and hate the taste of alcohol so never drink it. I read that in Australia 25 percent of ppl don’t drink at all because they don’t like it. 50 percent drink alcohol moderately and 25 percent are alcoholics. Don’t know how true it is I have friends who don’t drink like me but there seems to be a lot of people who drink it everyday. My Dad never drank it and lived to 87 due to his bad diet. My parents in law drank it occasionally and died in their late 90s. So not sure if it is bad for ppl who drink occasionally.
