Got kinda bored so I thought I would give it ago on pc game pass with a mate who was already experienced. Unfortunately he didn't really consider teaching me much apart from giving me a bunch of armour and a weapon. I gave it another go on my own about an hour ago and I was trying to follow the ravens (or crows don't sue me) for a tutorial and it kinda worked at first. Then it got cold and night time and everything was trying to kill me. Thanks to this video I was able to start again and learn how to craft properly, I was lost on the hammer thing till I saw this. Now its like 4:11 in the morning and I don't wanna get off it. Thanks for showing the basics, I think I can figure out the game from here, but I'll sub just in case I need a hint. Cheers
This is seriously one of the best beginner tutorial videos I've seen on Valheim, and I have watched a *lot* of them. Well done, thank you, and please keep doing more!
Best beginner video on Valheim yet. I've seen so many that focus on what to do after you beat the first boss, but don't say a word about food buffs or a step-by-step of the simplest way to deal with him.
Excellent guide~ The only thing I would've touched on was the stealth mechanic. It's not needed in the beginning and I'd understand why you didn't touch on it, but it can make it easier to hunt deer for those trophies. There's already a lot of great info here though ^^ For those who currently don't know: Pressing [default] L-CTRL will cause your character to crouch and be harder to detect. If you hit an enemy that is unaware of you, it can do a lot more damage, possibly enough to one shot enemies. Targets are 'unaware' if either with the yellow indicator above the target healthbar or having it blank. If you see a red ! then it means they are alerted and the sneak attack will not activate. Just be warned that it does take stamina in order to move while in sneak-mode, so keep an eye on it. Happy hunting!
Something else that's very useful for stealth and hunting deer is the white, wind directional arrow which presents in the bottom, left corner of the mini map. Wind direction applies mainly to sailing, obviously, but deer tend to smell you before they see you - even if you're sneaking. If your character stays downwind approaching a deer in stealth, you can walk all the way up to it before it realizes it's a Splinter Cell takedown. I have used a use a knife, club or axe and it works very well. Using these skills in a rested state levels up the skills faster than not having eaten, and it's very nice to have more advanced skills before going into the Black Forest or other biomes. I can see why in the beginning it would be tiresome to apply this knowledge, especially if you're just trying to move into the bronze age quickly, but it's very useful if you're interested in building the skills that develop from practicing this approach. Play the game the way you want to and enjoy the journey!
I so adore Valheim. Just the right amounts of "get yourself into a mighty pickle" and all the cool stuff to build. A tad grind-y in spots, true enough, but the scenery is stunning enough it doesn't really matter. :D All the best!
At 40 years old I was pleasantly surprised to find a game that really sucked me in like Fallout2 back in the day. Like, the first day I had off I played for 16hours straight 😅
One thing I will say is that Eikthyr can also be easily taken down in melee if you have a basic shield. A timed block will hold up even against the lightning blast and it's melee.
You did a great job making a very informative video without being dull or convoluted. Between your wit and the quite fetching accent, you could do well making more to-the-point tutorial/guide/tip videos like this! (Did I mention that great accent?) ^_^
Honestly loving this game so far. Ive seen it on the xbox store since it dropped but just was turned off by the pictures. Glad i gave it a shot today theres a lot more to this game than i originally thought
Great tips! Many of these I figured out LONG after the fact ha ha Def interested to learn your tips for the next two bosses. They were a real challenge for me.
fantastic stuff tried to get into valheim a few times before but with the workbench needing cover always put me off xD its like when you cant even do basic things because the game doesn't show you i kinda get put off because later when it gets more complicated what are my chances xD thank you great video and i've done all the steps =] really enjoyed every minute of the game so far
I get graydwarfs at level 2 and I got a shaman dwarf thing in the meadow. I also had a troll spawn by my hut. I'm assuming I unfortunately built near the black forest?
That's usually dependent on the bosses you've killed, for example I think Shamans only spawn in the meadows after you beat the second boss but it could just be that you're very near the black forest yeah.
@@IzPrebuilt LOL, it was my second in game day! I was in the meadows. I hadn't built a house or wall yet, was still figuring it out. He chased me all night. I managed to escape somehow. Anyways, fun game so far.
Ha "build or destroy blocks" somone is a little stuck in 7DTD. Good vid though m8. I love this game. Not the most cutting edge in terms of graphics but mechanically sound, very few glitches, and so much to do.
You’re sleeping on the spear. Only two leather scraps (instead of eight for the bow). You can stay crouched on approach to get deer, and there isn’t a draw when using the throw. Plus throwing the spear calls all of the nearby pigs to you so you don’t have to run after them. In most circumstances this is beneficial over the bow. Multiple deer is the only situation where the bow is superior over the spear.
@@Vass881234 You've got a bad seed then. Valheim worlds are randomly generated. You can build a raft but it's really not worth the effort, i'd start again with another seed.

Glad I could help!

A shield is exactly how I fought the boss lol
Wooden tower shield and a flint spear
Knowledge I'd have given my left eye for when I started!
