- In this video I answer another question that I am asked often. How do I connect my laptop running Rekordbox to some type of Pioneer DJ Gear.
I connect my laptop running Rekordbox to a Pioneer DJ Wego 2, XDJ-R1, XDJ-RX2, Turntables, Pioneer DJM 450, Pioneer DJM 900 Nexus, and a full set of Pioneer CDJ2000NX2 and DJM900NX2

Does it work with Rekordbox 6? (2022)
Thx man! Very useful info. I had a problem when using the soundcard of 2 xdjs (cdj/xdj-asio) the audio signal of both rb decks was going thru one channel on the mixer, not seperate channels. Maybe it's because i hooked up both usb cables before starting up the laptop or launching rekordbox? That would make sense as you explained @7:20

Brilliant video… I’ve got a Ddj 1000 and want to add a xdj-700 has a 3rd deck but every time I try to add the xdj comes up with a failed driver installation using rekordbox 6.2 any advice would be greatly received thanks
First off, thanks for watching. Interesting combination you are trying to achieve there. I think that Rekordbox can only connect to one Output device at a time. Since the DDJ1000 needs the laptop connected to it for the Controller to work I would connect those two together. I would then export my music to a USB, first analyzed by Rekordbox, then exported out of Rekordbox. Plug the USB into the XDJ-700 and plug the output from the XDJ700 to your DDJ1000. Use channel 3. Set Channel 3 on the DDJ1000 to use the Line Input. That will get everything connected. Good luck with all of this.
I have Pioneer ddj1000 and I try to connect my Audio Technica AT-LP1240 USB. In the Rekordbox setting, I could not find the DVS tab but there is Light instead. Would you help me figure out, please? I had Rekordbox DJ license come with it.
If you click on the Sprocket Icon (Config) you should see it all the way to the right. If you do not see it then uninstall the version you have and download the most recent version from the Rekordbox Website. You can still use the same license with the downloadable version.
You have to buy a dvs license separately
when using cdjs and a Mixer .. can you use the mixers effects while using you music from the rekordbox software ?
Hi, thanks for watching. Yes you can use your mixer effects while your music is coming from the Rekordbox software. The audio is starting from your laptop but runs through your mixer out to your speakers.
Is it possible to use the other 2 channels that don't have any cdj's connected to them? I only have 2 cdj's however I want to utilise all 4 channels at once.
Yes, on any 4 channel mixer you can plug in any 4 devices and use them at the same time. Only 2 channels are designed for Phono devices like Turntables. But all 4 channels are "line" inputs so that allows you to plug in any device that has an RCA cable connection.
have the following setup: djm900 2x cdj2000 - i only need in theory 1 cdj linked in case they need spotify etc before/after as well as i would like to record my set. is it best to just connect 1 usb to the djm900? dont understand in the last video why a lan connection is on top as the djm900 seems to do everthing alone, no? thanks so much!!!
Before I answer this question I need to know where is your music? Is it on a Laptop running Rekordbox or is it on a USB or SD Card that has exported music files from Rekordbox? Either way it is always best to have the DJM 900 and CDJ 2000 linked to each other through LAN Cables and a USB Hub. That way you get full functionality of the Quantize features.
Great video! Question: I have an xdj-r1 and I would like to connect two vinyl players directly to the console, is it possible? Do you need an external sound card or are two DVS vinyls enough?
Thanks for watching. The XDJ-R1 can have a turntable connected but it will only play regular records. You cannot use DVS vinyl through the XDJ-R1. The sound card does not support this. I would suggest any one of the Pioneer DJ mixers, as long as they have a USB connector.

Yes with your CDJ's connected to your laptop running Rekordbox you can use any mixer. The Laptop is using the CDJ's as the Output Sound Card. The Audio is coming through the CDJ's and to your mixer as any other Audio Output.

If you are migrating Rekordbox from one laptop to another you need to 1. install Rekordbox and apply your license. 2. Copy your music files from one laptop to another if they are locally installed on the old laptop. 3. Back up your Rekordbox Database by using the Rekordbox Database backup option. 4. Copy the ZIP file created by the Rekordbox Back Up Utility to your new laptop. 5. Once the music files are copied to your new laptop and placed in the same directory structure as the old laptop you can restore the ZIP file by using the Rekordbox Database Utility to Restore the database.

Hey do you need to have the “Rekordbox DJ” license to have the dvs License?
Yes, you need to be able to use Rekordbox in Performance Mode. That means you need the license for Rekordbox DJ. Then if you want to use turntables with Rekordbox then you also need to buy the Rekordbox DVS license. Thanks for watching.
What does the rekorbox button above link on the cdj 2000nxs2? And is it possible to just plug one USB to your laptop from a djm 900nxs mixer to control the whole set or do you always need you connect the cdj's also?

Question Number 1. If you only have Rekordbox in Export mode you can connect your computer via Ethernet Cable to a HUB and also plug your CDJ 2000 into the same HUB. Then with the Rekordbox software running you could press the Rekordbox Button on your CDJ and it will connect to the software. This will give your CDJ access to your Full Music Collection as it appears in the Rekordbox software. You can do this with other CDJ's and also any Pioneer gear that has the Rekordbox Button.
Question Number 2. If you are using a DJM 900 NXS mixer and connect your laptop to the USB port you cannot access Rekordbox from your CDJ's. The connection will only allow you to send the output signal from your Laptop through your Mixer. Only the DJM 900 NX2 Mixer has the ability to connect your laptop to it and have full control over your CDJ 2000 NX2.

My cdjs 850 came with 2 cds from rekordbox. Do I still need to buy the license? Just asking because I never actually used rekordbox before. Just wanted to know the steps to work with it.
If you have the small black card that says Rekordbox DJ and in the white box on the top left it says License Key then you are good to go. You won't need to buy a license.
How about disconnecting for another hid/usb dj to connect?
Are you asking what would need to happen so the music can keep playing while laptops are switched?

Yes, it was designed with the help of Pioneer DJ engineers so it is only for Pioneer DJ equipment.

Connecting CDJ 3000's is no different than connecting CDJ2000's. You have to make sure you have the Performance Key enabled. Also remember that the new versions of Rekordbox require you to pay for the software to be unlocked by devices that are not unlocking devices. Depending on what mixer you are using the CDJ3000's are not unlocking devices.
hey can any1 help me with why when ever I change to Pioneer CDJXDJ ASIO my output channels gets reduced to 3 only??? it says option 1 master output 2. headphones output 3 booth output... and not as it show on the video @ 7:16 there it says 4 output decks...

I have a question, perhaps this would be interesting for your viewers as well: How would you configure a single-deck setup (so called amputate mode)? I am using Rekordbox and the only way I was able to come up with was using only Pioneer mixers that have their own soundcard.
Yes that is the only way it would work because when you connect a CDJ to your laptop the output goes from the Laptop to the CDJ and then from the CDJ to the mixer. The CDJ to Mixer connection would always be on the same channel. You would not be able to separate the output.

Thanks for watching. That should be exactly what I did in the video at the 5:38 minute. Try it out and let me know if it works. With the DJM 450 you have other options. You can also just connect the DJM to your Laptop. I think I did this same connection later in the video.
How do you use usb hub? can`t you use just two of computer usb ports?
Yes you can simply plug each CDJ into a USB port of your laptop. If you don't have enough USB ports then you can use a USB Hub. Just make sure the USB Hub is one that can be plugged into a power source also. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for watching. I don't think that Rekordbox will work with this unit. Simply because the unit was made for Traktor and design way before Rekordbox was released.

As long as it is a pass through Ethernet hub then yes. If it has some type of DHCP settings make sure they are turned off.
For the setup (DJM 900 NXS2 & CDJ 2000 NXS2) how come you are not using a timecode on a usb
Hey, When you connect the DJM 900 NX2 and CDJ2000 NX2 to your laptop with Rekordbox the hardware has total control over the software. You can select the music from the CDJ screen, your loops and hotcues are all on the CDJ. If you use a timecode then your just controlling the playback of the music. Everything else would have to be done on the laptop.

That seems a bit redundant if your using NX2 gear. How ever you want us it works.
i saw a guy using two SB3 in seratodj pro to use 4 channels, can rekordbox do the same with, for example, two DDJ400?

Wow, that seems a bit weird but I guess if they want to have 4 channels and full control that is one way to do it. I wouldn't see why Rekordbox could not do the same. Each Controller would need to be identified and then with the software you would need to correctly route the channels.
Try it and let me know if it works.
@@Housemix10 hey! Just tried it and it works! (Used a DDJ400+Behringer cmc4a) i mapped the secons controller to be decks 3 and 4, and channels 3 and 4 on mixer. Works fine but i have problems getting the jog wheels to actually do their job.
Maybe 2 pioneer rekordbox controllers should be worth it if you have one lying around.

Hi, great tutorial. Im facing one issue, maybe you can help. Im using 2 x XDJ 700 and a DJM 450. When i connect them to my Mac (using a powered usb hub) all seems fine, until I go into Prefromance mode and I start to scroll on, lets say the left XDJ, then the right XDJ scrolls along with it. Normally in Export mode i can scoll on one XDJ without the other also scrolling. Do you have any idea what im doing wrong? By the way i need to use Preformance mode, due to that im using the RB DMX1 lighting box. Thanks for your time :-)
Hello, thanks for watching. This is normal behavior when you are using XDJ/CDJ's connected to your laptop via USB. When both devices are on the browse screen they will show the same movements. I just confirmed this by connected two CDJ2000NX2 to my Laptop via USB and also a CDJ 2000NX2 and XDJ700 to my laptop. The key is when you select to load a song. It should only load on the unit that you are using to scroll around. If this is not the case then the first thing I think you need to confirm is that your Mac is Identifying the fact that it has two XDJ's connected to it. Remember to your Laptop each XDJ is just a sound card so you need to make sure they are each Identified. Here is where I can't help you because I am not a MAC guy. But look into your laptop and confirm that they are both there. In a windows laptop you would go to Device Manager and look under Sound, Video, and Game Controllers and you would see them there. Second, after you press the Link button on your XDJ's make sure you select a unique Deck for the Unit. You should be prompted to do this after you press the Link Button, then Press the Scroll button to "Push To Connect" the USB MIDI. Good luck and again thanks for watching.

Yeah, I just confirmed it again by connecting two CDJ2000NX2 and a DJM900NX2. The CDJ's and the DJM are connected via LAN cables and the Laptop is connected to the DJM via USB and when I browse with one CDJ the other shows the same movements. I guess since they both share the same Collection / Browse Database they show the same movement. Again if one of your XDJ's is showing the Waveform then the other can Browse and it should not affect anything. Connecting everything via LAN would only give you access to your Laptop Rekordbox Database in Export mode. It will not work in Performance Mode. I find it interesting that the DMX Controller requires the software to be in Performance Mode. I do not have one of those so that is interesting.
@@Housemix10 Ok thanks for confirming it. No you are absolutly right, it doesnt affect music playing, just used to being able to browse seperatly on each player. Yes only in performance mode due to that you can change your light on the fly, whilst the song is playing. Say a drop triggers the wrong fixtures, then you just correct it live and it remembers it to the next time, quite handy. But again sadly it affect the browser mode. But i can recommend the DMX RB1 for mobile DJS. Once you have phrase analyzed your music, RB DMX does a quite good job with the light you have available. Thank you so much for your time and help :-)
@@Housemix10 I'm confused about the Rx3. I have it plugged into the laptop and I never did see a link so I could easily see my USB stuff on the computer and the controller. Plus I think the link would engage my rx3 controller search keyboard. Currently I can use the rotary knob to go up and down and look at some USB stuff some what. But the keyboard isn't and I can't get it to highlight so so I can search with it.

Curious been out of DJing for a long time, like mid 20's. I have DJ'ed for fun at my house. I just got the 900nxs2, CDJ 2000nxs2's and a DJS 1000 and RMX 1000. Just having a hard time getting the DJS 1000 and RMX to work. I have watched some UA-cam videos but i dont have the time like i did when i was DJing. Just wondering if you have any advice or ideas. Im running Rekordbox too. Thanks
Hey Delo. You have a couple of options here. Option 1 (No Computer) this means that all your music is analyzed in Rekordbox and you have exported it to a Media Storage device like a USB Thumbdrive or SD Card. You are going to need a Ethernet Hub. Connect the CDJ's to the DJM with the RCA Cables. Connect the DJS-1000 Output1 to an input channel on the DJM with RCA Cables. All your devices should have come with CAT-5 cables also, connect each one (Link Port) to the Ethernet Hub. Plug your USB/SD Card into one of the CDJ's. On the CDJ that has the Storage connected press the appropriate button to view your music. On the other CDJ press the link button to view your music. I am not much more familiar with the DSJ-1000 but I know that is how you would connect it in this matter.
Option 2 (With Computer) you would connect everything in the same matter with the RCA cables. But this time instead of plugging everything into the Ethernet Hub you would plug the devices into your computer using USB Cables and the USB ports on the devices. One thing to note. With the NX2 devices you can have everything plugged into the Ethernet Port and just connect your computer to the DJM900NX2. You would then be able to connect as I have shown in the video.
With the RMX1000 you have two options. You can connect the RMX to the DJM by using the Send/Receive ports. Or you can put the RMX1000 between one of your CDJ's and the DJM, or also between your DJM and the Output to the Speakers. It all depends on where you want the RMX to get the source audio.

Hey Tony, thanks for watching. It's been a while since I have used VDJ and when I did use it I only connected to CDJ 2000's and a XDJ-R1. I can tell you with VDJ it's all about the ASIO Drivers. Make sure you have the latest driver for your Controller installed on your laptop. I wish I could you help you some more but I no longer have my VDJ license. Good luck.
@@Housemix10 thank you for the reply, yh we installed the latest asio drivers n software, But on vdj audio settings it keeps saying asio driver failed and we can only get sound coming out of the assigned decks though the headphones n speakers even if the headphones not pressed
@@tonymarsh4234 You might want to start by confirming that the controller you are using is compatible with VDJ. Yes I know once you get the Driver issue corrected it is a matter of just doing some MIDI mapping. But you might want to check just in case there are other unknown issues. Just check with Pioneer DJ, on their Forum page. It might help.

Great videos, I have a DJM-T1 looking to link with rekordbox and timecode vinyl. I can only out sound from one deck using channel 3. 1&2 have no sound? Can you help. Pioneer won’t reply!
Hey Steven, thanks for watching. I don't understand what Channel 3 is on your 2 channel mixer. Lets see what you can do. Lets take this in steps to see how far you can get with your T1. If you just connect your mixer alone to your laptop running rekordbox and go into Performance Mode. Change the input switches on both your Mixer channels from CD, Phono to USB. When you do this you should see the small circles in Rekordbox that represent the platter change from saying External Input to Enabled circles with a grey and blue border. If this happened the next step, just to the upper left hand of the Circles in Rekordbox you should see three letters with a Up and Down arrow next to them. The letters would be REL, ABS, or INT. If you click on the Up and Down arrows next to them you will see what they stand for. At this point select INT (Internal). You should now see that a Play and Cue button are enables right below where you are looking. Drag a song to that player and press the play button on your screen. Confirm if you can hear the output on your mixer by either checking the Cue on your Headphones or through your Master Output.
If that has worked so far the next step is to 1st change Rekordbox to use DVS. First change the INT on the screen, next to the platters to either ABS or REL. I use REL. Next click the sproket icon on the Rekordbox menu, just to the right of the MIDI option to go into Preferences. You should see a DVS Icon, click that Icon. On the Top left, in the grey area, you should see a option that says Enable DVS Function. Make sure that option is checked. Now connect your Turntables to your mixer and play your Control Vinyl. I know you can your Serato V02 or Rekordbox control vinyl. You should see the scope on your deck display something.
If all of that has worked you should not hear the song playing out of your mixer and you can control the movement with your Control Vinyl. Good luck.
@@Housemix10 thansk for the response. i have sound outputting the headphone from channel but nothing coming out of the master. If i change the output deck 1 to pioneer djm-t1 asio: ch3 then i get sound out of the master for output deck 1. As soon as i try and then assign pioneer djm-t1 asio: ch3 to output deck 2 i get sound out of the master for that deck but nothing out of deck 1 now which auto switches itself to either 1 or 2. Hope that makes sense.
by the way i have setup dvs out, sound output though is ofcourse not working. no faders work etc but i just want to crack the sound output before looking at the midi mapping. I have just invested in this mixer, rekordbox subscription adn timecode vinvl based on pioneer website saying the djm-t1 is rekordbox compatible and so far had nothing from pioneer to help.

It depends on the version you are using. If you are using the newest version (6.x.x) you will need to pay for a plan to use Rekordbox performance. If you can find an older version (5.x.x) then it will be compatible.

Hello there, the ddj wego 2 does not work. It doesn’t let me scratch when I connect headphones. I can hear it, but in the volume fighters don’t work. How can I fix it?
Go into the Rekordbox software and click on the Sproket to view Preferences. Click on the Audio section and confirm that you are using the correct Audio driver for your controller.
done that, and it still doesn’t work already downloaded the drivers for my controller, and it doesn’t let me scratch or browser software with the control knob

@@maxthelightingguy5500 When I made this video I was using Rekordbox Ver 5.3.0 Since then the Rekordbox software has gone to a Paid Subscription platform for older equipment. It is one of the reason's why I am still using Ver 5.8.5 If you check the Rekordbox website they tell you what hardware they consider to be "unlocking equipment". The Wego 2 is not on that list. See if you can find a download on their page for past versions. Any of the 5.x.x versions should give you what you want.

Hello, thanks for watching. Please let me know what type of laptop you are using with Rekordbox. This should be an easy connection since the RZX is a Rekordbox controller. Make sure the USB cable is secure between the laptop and the Controller. Also make sure that your channels reflect what USB port the computer is connected too, USB A or USB B.
how do i connect rekordbox to a xone 96?
The hard part about this is finding a sound card driver that will work for both the Mixer and the software. Once you have that they you will need to work with the MIDI mapper to get some of the functions to work also. It is a nice mixer but not native to Rekordbox. Thanks for watching.

Hey thanks for watching. I don't have a SB3 but I imagine it would be just like any other Pioneer controller. Make sure you have the latest version of Rekordbox. Plug in the SB3, you should be prompted to install the drivers. Once they are installed, within Rekordbox, click on the Set Up Icon it should be in the top right of the window and it looks like a gear. Click on the Audio section and confirm that your output is set to the Sb3. From that point on you should be ok to go. Good luck.

No, Rekordbox works best with Rekordbox enabled devices. Or most Pioneer DJ gear. If you want to go beyond that you would have to deal with some type of Midi mapping.

What version of Rekordbox are you using. The XDJ R1 will not work with the most current version of Rekordbox. You can use a 5.x version of rekordbox. Or you will need to pay for the subscription service to make it work.

Had serato a while while great yeah id have needed an external sound card to capture vinyl audio including Fx units such as pioneer RMX1000 as the onboard laptop doest capture HD audio Windows 7 anywhere i seem to look audition audacity you name it. Sonjnhave sereto running plug in ds1 which captures only one audio device the ds1 . Then launch rekordbox and select the Record setting to Main that was i catch all my post fader FX. Onboard serato, mixer Fx, loops, Rolls, Hotcues, all preformed lag free in sereto all tracks ananlysed and set too -1.5Db using VDJ as you can turn off auto gain with dvs external mixer mode but dont seem to be able to ctrlA a full crate and set gain to a specific amount i have my 11 stage pioneer light vd to volume match the tracks headphones and speakers auto gain can add aswell as take away. Boost it at the mainboard don’t send the sound tech a hot signal
have the same prodblem with denon ds1 and Rekordbox latest edition date of post i5 quad core 2.8 ghz . 8Gb Ram Samsung 840 SSaD Windows 7 Pro CAD laptop no issues with gaming or serato very low latency, no issues with Rekordbox other than more lag and cpu use allrounf compared with serato through the DVS. Bought second hand £99 cheaper than brand new 4 years old ish and a 2 brand new dvs never used wraped new unwrapped one warped to the max and an inperfection which skips please advice. Ive upped latency sonthe Rekordbox works with dvs less laggy and less crases but still happen under load.
So buying next a pionner Sp1 and sticking with Serato.
With a djm 450 2 turntables a laptop that can stay on a week without running hot with serato a pioneer Sp1 added to my rmx 1000.
I really dont see how i can use Rekordbox other to yes Rekord- i didnt manage to get it recording in audacity or auditon with the djm serato ds1 drivers as a master out to the system amp trying to record serato i used to be able to with a dj i/o external usb sound-card to input a line from the line mixer my dj setup hits before the system amps. Serato vinyls and seemingly so Rekordbox vinyls both work on both programs

how to connect rekordbox in xdj xz
The XDJ XZ is a stand alone system. You should export your Rekordbox files to a USB and then use the USB on your XDJ. That is the best way to use the device. If you want to connect your laptop to it there is a USB B port on the device. Connect the cable from there to your laptop. Your laptop should identify that the device is connected. Then start Rekordbox and make sure the device is set as your Audio output.
How about SR2 Sir?
You can connect the SR2 to Rekordbox it will simply be a plug and play scenario. Most Pioneer gear works automatically with Rekordbox regardless if it is designed for Serato.
Hello anyone can help please (first time user of rekordbox and midi controls):
- My settings: PC windows 10 - XDJ R1 Pioneer - Rekordbox latest ver. 6.5.3 (2021.08.24) - usb cable tested and working
- installed driver Pioneer_XDJ_R1_Driver_1.100 on PC,
tried also to reinstall it and re booted the PC and cleaned with registry cleaner several times
- I set Utility/Mixer on PC, but shows no connection signal in rekordbox
- clicked the midi button on the console, regularly shows decks A and B, also tried the different 'audio' settings in rekordbox
- I did all accordingly from min 2.30 of this video
- if i play 1 track in rekordbox, i hear it from headphones plugged into the console
PROBLEM
- the console does not command anything in rekordbox
- rotating knobs, or any other button don't interface with rekordbox at all

Your first issue is that the XDJ-R1 and version 6.5.3 of Rekordbox requires that you purchase a Performance license from Rekordbox. Please make sure this is done then attempt to you the software with this controller. Thanks for watching.

I need more information about what you are trying to do here. Rekordbox has different modes. Export Mode is free. Performance Mode and DVS Mode you get 30 days of free trial period. After that then they stop working and you need to buy a license to get them to work. Which are you trying to use? Also tell me what equipment you are trying to connect.
Housemixer Leo D I try to connect my xdj-r1 in rekord box with a usb cable to my laptop, so I don't have to put all my number on a usb stick, which gets very confusing. But when I connect the cable, the dj booth doesn't work anymore and for example I can't choose a song with the search function on the dj booth or play or mix a song at all.
@@davidvendrig5576 Please make sure you follow the instructions from the video at minute 2:33 where I explain how to connect the XDJ-R1 to a Windows Laptop. Confirm you have done everything I have explained. What happens then?
Housemixer Leo D yeah i did, but once i put all the settings correct en plugd the cable in, de dj booth do not light up and i can not use Amy function on de dj booth. This means i can not mix with de dj booth. Is this because i don’t have a licensens for rekordbox??

Are there any processes I have to take care of in optimising it for Mac?
@@rjmn1 I am not a MAC guy so the only thing I can tell you is to make sure you have a good amount of RAM and Video memory on your laptop. Also make sure the Rekordbox software is using the High Quality graphics when it is running on your laptop.
