►SCRIPT
So the first thing to change are your latency settings. This basically controls the responsiveness of your software.
So the more responsive and tight your latency settings are, the more stress you’ll put on your computer, and the less tight and responsive your latency settings are, the less stress you’ll put on your computer. So finding the right balance is the key.
The next thing to change are your vinyl brake settings. This controls the stopping speed of the track. This setting for me just sounds better and makes stopping a track more interesting.
Anyway, when you scratch you want to have the crossfader to be at its sharpest setting. By default it’s smooth and will cause your scratching to sound like this. Notice how the volume changes. We don’t want that. We want to cut the sound, so we can do stuff like this.
Now not all songs start where you want them to start. Some have long intros, and some just have parts that you don’t care about.
So I’ve adjusted my Serato to load to the first cue point. This setting skips scrolling and going to the section where I need the track to be, and though you can just press a cue point and get there, this settings just skips that step.
Now let’s adjust our hot cue settings on Recordbox DJ, by default this is what happens when you trigger a cue point when a track is not playing computer demo*. I find this default setting to be not useful at all. Instead we want this to happen *computer demo
And finally let’s adjust the visual layout of our software. So let’s first work on Serato.
So by default, this is how it naturally looks like, now, this feels too cramped up for me, and I would much rather see the tracks wave forms in horizontal form.
And lastly, let’s move on, to adjusting the visual layout of Rekordbox DJ
So by default, this is how it naturally looks like, I personally don’t like the color and look of the waveforms, so let’s change it.

I agree with all the settings you set on Rekordbox. In fact the RGB waveform is more usefull that the blue one because each color represents a frequency of sound, so if you havent heard a song before it is hell of a lot helpfull to see where you get a lost of bass or snares so the frequencys dont clash with each other

OMG I just gone from CDJ's and bought a new DDJ-1000 and Mac M1 Air and thought the 1000 was a piece of junk controller but NO, Pioneer set the latency so bad my brand new system played like something from 10 years ago. THANK YOU I was so worried urgh, thanks for the stress Rekordbox!!!

I use all this settings in fact. I use rekordbox whit my rx ddj. I think that all DJ programs have strengths and weaknesses and it is a matter of adapting to what you have at the moment. Regards Carlo

My answer is, Comparing to other softwares Rekordbox interfaces are very attractive and user friendly.
User-friendly interface is a must! That's true! Efficient workflow is important!
I've used VDJ, Serato and Rekordbox. Out of the 3, from personal experience, VDJ gives you more for your money, it has never crashed on me *knock on wood* and it is very user friendly. Serato video lagged a lot n would crash often, n Rekordbox doesn't have a computer search bar, only collection search which is not helpful when I get requests.

On my DDJ-SX2, the Crossfader Curve option is greyed out in Serato. That's because the controller has a Crossfader curve knob on it. Just turn the knob on the front of the controller all the way to the right to get the same effect Carlo is talking about here!

**** My Extra settings : Sample plates shown when i push the sample button of dj controller. it helps in faster focus on samples & improves easier performance.
# most importantly i love the layout of rekorbox dj software & the import/export feature is extremely helpful.

Visually, the vertical waveform setting feels a lot more natural to me, especially when scratching as is moves in sync with your hand movement. It also separates the left and right decks, mirroring the controller. I guess it all comes down to personal preference.
Hello Carlo, i use ONLY Serato Lite and Serato DJ. As a OLD SCHOOL DJ , I am able to learn so much EASIER on your site when it comes to a control(Hercules Inpulse 500).

I use Rekordbox since I own a DDJ-400 and sometimes virtual DJ and Djay Pro
I still using Serato because my first DJ controller work with Serato. I found recordbox has a feature i i really appreciate which the stars rating for me to indicate the level of energy of the track. However, I intimidated by the need to reset my cue point for every tracks! Great video sir. 😊

The latency settings aren't universal. It depends on the Software, the Controller and especially the Hardware inside your PC.
That' s true, especially when using DVS getting the lowest latency possible is key.

@@djdarshofficial868Well, If you have latency issues with the dicers turn down the latency as far as possible and see what happens 😎! Your setting to 10 (I assume you are using Serato DJ?) seems to be way too high for a latency free performance of the dicers. Which model of the MacBook Pro do you use/exact specs? Which DJ Software do you use? Are the dicers compatible with Serato DJ since they were released at a time where Serato DJ still was Scratch Live? I own a MacBook Air 13 Early 2015 model with i5 and 8GB of RAM and can turn my latency to 1 with no issues in Serato DJ Pro.
I use recordbox because is full version when I buy my dj controller (ddj 400)

I use VDJ 8 on DDJ-SR and like that i can import music quickly without having to setup crates and love the automix feature. The sound effects are pretty week though. OTOH Serato DJ Pro has better native effects like echo out, combo fx, but doesn't have automix and it takes too long import music and setup crates. Also it sometimes bogs down my laptop whereas VDJ never fails.
thanks for the information. I usually use Serato but DJing a lot in NYC all of the CDJ's use rekordbox. so I'm taking upon myself to take the time to learn it in order to be versatile.

i use virtual dj due to alot of features that are locked behind dlc's with rekordbox or extra stuff you have to pay for e.g. visualisations are naturally unlocked with virtual dj and also have a ton of created plugin's that can be downloaded free.
That's cool, man! Virtual dj is a strong software! But I simply prefer others.. Sorry!
Thx for setting tips. I went rekordbox. Found a good deal on a DDJ-400 that included the software. Plus all my friends use Serato. I wanted to try something a little different. Though this has slowed me down a little when I use their gear. I have been crutching on your videos for more detailed settings and preferences for rekordbox. Thx again for the time you spend making these videos.

I’m a Serato fan and user, I tried recordbox but I bought a pioneer DDJ SX2 in 2012/13 when it came out and it came with serato and controls everything from the board… choosing the layout to choosing how to search, artist, track, bpm and track number, the crossfader has a knob as all mixers should +++ it’s hard to change when it does everything I want!
Quite true! I know a bunch of DJs who have both RB and SDJ on their laptops, but they always stick to the ones they like the most because that's what suits them best!

I use Vdj for it's versatility, stability and it offers quite a few features that are not included in the other main programs. So those little things can mean a lot. But even vdj have some default settings that I hate and their list of options is quite extensive.

I use Serato since it’s easy to use and most DJs have it. Also I can stream music on the software
A lot of professional dj's used 512 legacy. I used 512 as well. I did used 256 legacy seems less quality sound and it crashes easier some reason. All laptops i used. Also used DJ Tech tools usb cables. Only on my Pioneer DDJ-SZ.
