AEV has made high quality stuff for years, but they’re extremely proud of it and charge an arm and a leg for simple stuff. I will say, if you could add pieces of their stuff that you wanted versus having to get it all, it might be enticing. Personally, I’d pass on the package because I’d add actual cattle bumpers (Ranch Hand).

I have a 24 Silverado 2500HD Duramax with the Bison package.
The Bison package bumper and skids are really beefy. They look good too. The wheels are nice but add little actual value. The stitching, badging, and mats are a nice touch but add no value.
The AEV rear bumper is always crooked on the passenger side when mounted. Look at them and you'll never unsee it. In fact so are the standard HDs, just not as bad. Look at the gap between real quarter panel. I've seen some touching. The corner brace is too short and when torqued down to the frame it causes the bumper to curve up and forward. I've also seen one front bumper crooked.
There are 12 pieces of plastic on the front bumper and 10 on the rear. The light cut outs are horrible. The Baja Designs Squadron lights AEV recommends for the rear bumper get partially covered by the very small 2 inch cutout. The front light cut out is a 5 sided trapezoid. Who the hell makes a light like that. I fabbed up my own bezels for the front bumper and used Squadron lights there too. It looks way better now.
Is it worth it. Yeah, but the design and installation leaves a lot to be desired for a $93k truck.

For my needs I’d take the ZR2 but that AEV package is a beast!

Let’s be honest, most people buying the Bison do so for looks. Few buy a $100k truck to do extreme off-roading. AEV will offer the bumpers after market at the end of summer. Personally, I think the redesigned non-LED LT front end looks more aggressive than the LED one. The LED one is more refined but not aggressive. A 3500 LT with a 4k lb payload costs around $73k. You can add a 4 inch Cognito lift, 37s, Method wheels, and the AEV bumpers for around $90k, almost 10k less than the Bison with arguably a more aggressive looking truck and much more payload.

The original ZR2 was only available with the Bison package and I believe a gasser. They added the non bison version. What's funny is the tires they fit on this truck were meant for the Bison AEV bumper, they rub on the non bison version at full turn. I can't believe I have an 88K truck with tires that rub.

Mine as well only in reverse. Can’t believe it and haven’t had time to take it in. How did they manage that for you? Cut out some of the lining to stop the rub?

I wish GM made that green more readily available on all of their trucks. I like the glacier blue on my Colorado but there is just something about that green.

Is off roading a diesel even a good idea? Aside from the weight, wouldn’t the emissions system clog up since off roading typically consists of slow controlled maneuvers?

Do you have the GMC SIERRA ATX4 AEV at the end when you said you wish it had the massaging seats? Can you do a video on your truck and why you like it? Also, did you get the GMC because you offroad? Or because you wanted a really badass daily driver? I'm going to be getting into the truck world hopefully later this year and have to make a decision if I go for badass, or only go for the bare minimum I would really need (which would probably be a basic F150 full cab). But I REALLY love how the 2500's look, especially the ZR2 and ESSSSSSSPEEEEEEEEEECIALLY the Bison

Front bumper is awesome on that AEV but the rear bumper on AEV doesn’t come close to the Zr2 base in looks or functionality . Parking sensors for the front are going to be available for 2025 ! About to order . I’m going gasser after tons of research .

Payload of the bison/aev 1500 is awful. Usually it’s like 1000-1200 which for a truck is pretty low. If you aren’t towing or hauling it’s ok though.

@@vicenteochoa6498that’s why I went with my 2500 at4. Wanted to go with a 1500 at4x but found out the payload on it was worse. Having a wife and 3 kids plus then adding all their shit when we travel e we would be a max payload on the 1500. Also the fact 1500 pricing is almost the same with 2500 It was a no brainer.

My two biggest complaints for the ZR2 and especially the AT4X is all that money and no climate controls in the rear and no HVAC vents in the headliner ridiculous miss for this money .

You can order it from Chevy as a add on package for the ZR2. Off the lot, dealers are probably gonna charge markup for it. I think current build time is 5 months as a Chevy dealership told me.
