- In this video, Christian Green of www.GreenForceTactical.com offers a wealth of holster making secrets. During the DIY instruction, he shows us his personal method for designing and forming a basic 2-piece (pancake) holster for a M&P Shield. Watch Christian as he demonstrates the steps necessary to plan and construct a thermoform holster for a modern handgun. Included in this presentation are segments on material layout, forming prep, scoring-and-breaking, toaster oven material heating, press-forming, eyelet installation (including flaring), profiling, trimming and edge sanding.
This is a great video for beginners to intermediate holster makers who want to learn the basic procedures of professional thermoform holster making.

even though he is using a molded prop., he still maintains excellent trigger discipline! Great vid for us DIYers.
Could not be clearer or more helpful. Thank you so much for this excellent vid.
Excellent presentation. Helped me make some decisions.
Hands down the best video for DIY
Thanks for your videos! They really helped me to get going in Kydex.
Very informative!
Thanks for watching, Storm. Let us know if you would like to see anything specific.
awsome video chris!
Great video a lot of tips for beginners
Thanks for watching Andrew! Let us know if you have questions.
great video...
Great video, Love Your style Mr. Green. Did you ever do a 2nd video, showing the mounting of belt attachments, etc?
Rocket Surgery... instant thumbs up! Lol
I've never made pancakes in this manner. Great informative video, though!
I think it's very interesting, and well within my skill set
Hi Jimmy. If you ever want to give it a try, let us know and we'll be glad to help you get started. Thank you for watching! Alex
Thank you , very good video.
You should do a video on how to add a level 2 holster with the bladetech spring loaded thumb break!
Thanks for the Idea, Daniel. We will put that on our schedule for the next DIY session. If you are subscribed to our UA-cam channel it will automatically notify when it is uploaded. Stay tuned!
Great video, hope to be doing business with you soon.
Adolfo Gomez top notch company I have 4 of there holsters. my 2nd broke due to my own stupidity and he replaced it for free.
Os pinos poderiam ficar mais perto do molde. No video me parece que esta a 2,5 cm e com 1cm e ate 6mm ja é suficiente. Obrigado pelo video
Awesome job beautiful work, before final sanding 22:04 Could you cut a piece kydex a little bit bigger than your final holster, Heat it up, Place the finished sanded mold in the press, Place the heated kydex over it ,Sand it Than you would have a Final Template that you could place over your mold than trace it with a pencil Than cut it out just a hair bigger, Sand it this way you could have cut out Templates for every model and cutout specifications
What makes this an OWB as opposed to an IWB?
The drill guide you are using at 13:40, where can we get that? Not the clip templets but the drill guide you are using for the eyelets. I can't find that one anywhere?
Can you please make a video for a half shell hybrid holster with rubber spacers?
Hi Daniel. I'm putting it on the future video list now. Thanks for the suggestion.
Mr. Green, I hate to impose, but I am wanting to make a cross the chest rig with a kydex holster. Do you have any instructional videos on that particular operation?
Nice vid, where did you pick up that drill plate for the eyelets
Thank you Trigger. Hey guys, if you need to pick up a drilling template here is a link to all of the templates that we offer. www.holstersmith.com/vcom/index.php?cPath=547_692
By the way, we also have the eyelet drills that we used in the videos. www.holstersmith.com/vcom/index.php?cPath=548_527
Perfect tutorial! Can i ask you where you get these "bluegun"?

thank you!
If using a real firearm to make the holster do you have to worry about the temp of the kydex melting the frame of the gun
Chris DeBonis yes. Follow the same temp as he uses in the video.
Hi can you tell me where I can get a press like yours? Thanks
Hi Rafael,
Check here: www.holstersmith.com/vcom/index.php?cPath=548_524
How strong is the flaring press? Would be 0,5 ton enough?
Yes a .5 ton will be enough.
Yes, that'll work fine.
Are the eyelet holes 3/4" apart or 1" apart?
That is your choice, Paul. It depends on the attachment that you are using. You want the holes to line up with the holes in your chosen attachment.
This is great. I watched your one piece holster video first and was wondering what are the benefits of using two pieces instead of one? Also, your crafting skills look great but when you say that this is just like making pancakes, I question your culinary skills. This would be more like making a torta Cubana, which is way better. anyway.
Hi what would be a good eyelet press I’m in the Uk ? Thank you
Thanks for watching. We have several options for eyelet flaring tools. The Master Series press and dies work great for making a large quantity of holsters and sheaths. The Journeyman dies and die guide also produce great results, but are recommended for smaller productions. An Arbor Press can also be modified to fit the Journeyman dies. The link to these eyelet flaring tools can be found below.

CKK Industries thank you very much il start searching later today over a coffee
what size eyelets are you using?
Hi John. They're 8-9's. Check these... www.holstersmith.com/vcom/advanced_search_result.php?search_in_description=1&keywords=8-9
On the Holstersmith site, I get the impression you can use a hammer instead of the press as long as you use the guide and dies? Is that right?
You can use the Journeyman dies and die guide and use a hammer. The roll on your eyelets will not be as consistent, and you will be more likely to split the eyelets with the journeyman dies and a hammer. It is also slower. That being said, there a lot of folks out there using the journeyman set up with great success. You just have to get a feel for it.
And the belt attachment?
This video is for basic forming. We will be adding videos showing how to mount various attachments.
I too am a rocket surgeon
Good video. But uhh... did Holmes really give us the definition of 'jenkieness'?? LOL
rocket surgery :D
C'est pas le roi ddu montage vidéo en tout cas.... +de 4mn à regarder un four chauffer 🤔
Nous aimons développer pleinement la scène. :-)
