What is the bench top buffer you guys use on your videos? I don't see it on your website.

Where’s the 2nd video? For appendix carry, what if I want the back side (the part the touches the skin) to be a bit higher than the front side?

We are working on it. If you want the back of the holster taller, as in a taller sweat guard, go ahead and trace out more of your handle profile. Make sure to do a good job of smoothing the top radius on the extended guard because you will be in contact with a longer piece for more duration. That is one of the reasons why we sell the higher grit abrasive wheels, like these www.holstersmith.com/vcom/sandingpolishing-flap-wheels-c-548_805_806.html is that makers who use a higher sweat guard design really place a premium on having the smoothest contact edges.

Why don't you show how the gun fits in the holster after you're done

Title should be "How to make a holster with $600 worth of tools"

Hi. Thank you for watching. The tools in this video are focused on professional holster making. We also have tools that you can use if the goal is to only make one holster. When we were shooting Dave's video, we asked him to show his standard method, using the tools that he prefers. Being a full-time maker, he chose vacuum forming for his demonstration.

My sight channel keeps coming out curved and not straight, any tips?

Are you molding with the actual gun or using a molding prop? Do you have the site channel modified in any way, such as using a dowel rod?

@@KnifeKits I bought the prepped molding prop. I'm beginning to wonder if I need to improve my press, it's homemade and I think I'm not able to keep enough pressure on before I press and it's causing it to fold

Agreed. One of the main issues that we see with malformed holsters is the lack of pre-pressure created when the prop and hot material are introduced into the press. Make sure that your press creates the "pinch" in a way that pulls the material tightly toward the handle end of the gun on both sides. A lot of guys find that using gloves to pull the hot material over the gun as it's being secured in the press will keep it tight. That's a big key to success.
