Haahaa! Fun breakfast today. Can't wait for Alex's video when he looks after your trees 😄. I'm still trying to get into a good fertilizer habit too - I always start the year with good intentions... I do love your privet bonsai - removing that root worked a charm on the composition. What bonsai chores keep you busy the most right now?
Just about to open up all my airlayers BUT I still have laods of Larch to prune and pines and junipers to dig into. I still haven't cleaned all of those pots yet either :(
Maple forest slate planting is looking good! Also the Chinese privet. My CP has nearly died twice, once in winter when the pot froze and then last summer when it got dry. My error, I had been treating it the same as the elms but clearly CPs are a lot more sensitive. The good news is the roots just stayed alive and sent up one new shoot after a few months of intensive care...
It is definitely a 'fussy' species. My two definitely sulk for a year when repotted and can be erratic for growth surges. At the moment both seem to be enjoying life in the UK sun and have put on loads of new growth. Alwways good to hear from you Dave - stay out of the sun :)
Hi Xavier, your jade Forest they are all crassula Ovata (Jade) the last one with the lighter leaf colour is the portulacaria afra like the two bigger ones you have. Anyway have a good day 🌞
Another great episode of Bonsai for Breakfast! Nice to see Alex lets his trees overgrow 😊Thank you for the shoutout Xavier! I am glad you like the putty!!
I am using it quickly because it is so easy to apply. My old stuff is very rigid and needs a lot of manipulating first. A review of your lime sulphur on Thursday :)
Ok Xav another great Video, thanks for your time, making, editing and all the other processes we don't see, but just a brilliant end result. Keep it up, and the videos.
I have to prune a huge 7 ft PA tomorrow and lm sure l will coming home with the cuttings 😵💫... your vids are not only educational but funny as well. thanks again Xavier
That Acer planting looks fabulous, I liked it when you put it together and now it’s grown it looks even better. Great breakfast addition ( watched with my coffee as usual ) keep them coming.
Why don’t you prune Alex’s trees, and then he can come over and fertilize your trees? Seems like a symbiotic beautiful relationship waiting to happen! Great video Xav.
I just recently had to buy another big bag of BioGold to give my trees a mid-summer/pre-autumn boost. Nice collection of Japanese maples, but does Alex have a Shishigashira? Arghhh! the glorious Japanese Golden White Pine… 💀
I think there is a very good chance the oaks will fuse (in time) There is a massive oak over my local heath that has a branch the size of my waist which has been completely engulfed by the branch next to it.

@@XaviersBonsaiRetreat yep! Factor 50 ultrasun gel on arms and face this morning while I'm cutting the grass.
Nice pruning Xav. I love your maple group ❤
Thaks gail - they seem to be bedding in well. Hopefully we shall see some real growth next year :)

Thanks for that Eric - I appreciate the help :)

@@XaviersBonsaiRetreatThat stuff is potent. It made my Shari and deadwood bone white - which was exactly what I wanted.
Brilliant 😂 very good! I'm definitely a grower and not a shower but I will get around to pruning at some point 😉
😂😂😂
Great to get a sneak look at some of your trees Alex. All looking great and growing well. Build that bulk 💪💪💪
Go count your pots mate!😂
I'm a grower and not a shower too. Stand proud Alex - your trees are magnificent!
I am sure you will Alex - especially when the neighbours start doing it for you...
Bonsai and comedy. It doesn’t get better than this. Great job Xavier!
Everytime I try to bonsai it is a new joke :)

That is really encouraging for me - thank you so much for that :)
Great bonsai for breakfast makes a great start to the day
Cheers Dougie

I'd love to see some pictures of that?
Can you just confirm that no plastic animals were harmed during the filming . I won't be able to sleep otherwise
All safely back in position despite the leopard trying to get past that bull elephant :)
Ah
Maybe get you to do mine mate 😉
Love that humour mate😅
Sounds advice too 👌
Adam of Notion suggested grass fertiliser is cheap but used by quite a few people.
That Acer planting looks fabulous, I liked it when you put it together and now it’s grown it looks even better.
Great breakfast addition ( watched with my coffee as usual ) keep them coming.
Thanks Mark - let's see how much content I can find to film as we approach autumn. I may be slowing back to 2 videos a week after my orkney retreat.
Well done xavier keep up the good work mate thanks
Cheers Phillip - sometimes the videos just write themselves :)

Bingo - I shall tell him your suggestion. Though I fear he may go into anxiety at the thought of me pruning his lovely maple shoots.
I should really prune more too, not because it they really need it, but more so to get some branching ...
So many of my trees get forgotten - I seem to be pruning alternative years these days :)
Good morning, Xavier! Good stuff! I am checking my fertilizer routine and hoping to get the same results as Alex.
Have a lovely day!!
Do you get the same sort of growth as he does?
@@XaviersBonsaiRetreat No 🙁. Maybe my fertilizer is not that good. Do you know which one he is using? Thanks, Xavier! You are the man!
@@GusIgnatz He uses fertilser in teabags - normally biogold i think.
@@XaviersBonsaiRetreat Thanks, Xavier!
That was a lot of fun. Good advice at the end too.
Now I need to go back and see what I said :)
@XaviersBonsaiRetreat Basically, you said not my ducks, not my problem.
“How many kids do we have?!” 😂 perfect edit
I have to be careful with some of my thoughts :)
Love it xav
Cheeky cheeky 😂😂
Great video mate.
See you soon 💪👊👊👊👊
looking forward to it Andy - i bet it rains :)
@@XaviersBonsaiRetreat 😂 probably mate
Came for the breakfast and bonsai, satiated for the British humor 😂
My middle names makes me another-another-alexander :)

I couldn't resist showing that
Nice garden Alex, the main difference is that Alex don’t prune hard back to trunk every day 🤣🤣🤣
He doesn't prune back 'anyday' :)
@@XaviersBonsaiRetreat 🤣🤣 he maybe growing a jungle so he can be Tarzan?
Good morning 😊
Morning Martina - fingers crossed but my computer is being taken today for repair. Hopefully it will be back in time for my next round of uploads :)

I think you are right Andrew - it is whether I remember to wait long enough :)
Behave yourself with Alex’s trees he may have trackers on them 😂
Hmmmm
👍👌🙂
Morning Bruce
hm.. Fertilise... grow .. PRUNE is part of the cycle though!
Now you know what Alex and I often 'discuss' when i visit his place :)
