Jade trees !! Have you been converted my friend, they are the only indoor tree I would recommend for indoors, easy to look after, they hold the water in their leaves, a good guide to wether they need watering is to watch the leaves, when they start to look less plump and look a little dry, then water, I have cut mine right back. Yours are looking very healthy Xav, I think I told you I made a little forest planting and gave it to next door and they managed to kill all the trees😢, glad you left that top branch, it gives you options for further development. All the best my friend.
I must have given the wrong impression at some point about Jade? I love working with them and they are so versatile...and forgiving. It is weird how so many bonsai 'experts' denegrate them so much :)
Cool, I did a major cut back on all my big Jade's in order to save room and limit damage while moving house. I need to make some more wooden planters for that wide root support rather than buckets.
Looking good! I'm quite lucky our winters a warm over here in South africa 🇿🇦 (Zone 10b) dwarf jades and jades grow massive here. The one in my profile photo is only 3 years old. Look how thick it is!
Hi Xavier, my Gollum Jade cuttings, taken this October just started to push new leaves out. Wait with pruning until year 2 - right? Yours are looking gorgeous. Can´t wait to see more. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Martina
I have repotted these in winter and they have beenfine. The only issue I have found relates to getting the watering correct. Let the soil dry out then give a good soaking. Other than that they seem to do pretty well so long you keep them in or about a decent light source/sun.

I just come in from pruning my PA and now this video... perfect timing l say. Appreciate you Xavier
I love these because you can prune whenever you want really :)
Really Nice Jade‘s Bonsai‘s 👍
Cheers Tom
Super thrive fertilizer has been great on my variegated ficus benjamina. I've seen a lot more backbudding..
I am looking forward to seeing results on mine - it has to be better than not fertilising :)
Fantastic! I thoroughly enjoyed the show and my chair has the same issue!! Much like us, they like to “chat”! 😂
My children say I need to lose weight...but that can't be the problem :)

How are they looking now?
On the island of Madera this is used as hedging, I brought back a large cutting. A few years ago.
That's not the only thing you can bring back from there :)

Very jealous of your climate and it defintiely makes a difference for growth in comparison :)
Nice job xavier. Great video.
Cheers Chris - things are slowing down nicely for the winter break :)
👍👌🙂
Thanks Bruce
What, jade as bonsai? What were you thinking. Been watching too many jella-fella vids mate? 🎉
I think you infected me :)

I would definitely let yours have a full year of growth to establish a solid root system :)
My Gollum jade is outside this year and it just flopped over when it started getting really cold. Been that way for about a week already.
I always bring my Jade and Portulacaria inside when temps start to drop near 5C
@XaviersBonsaiRetreat Thank you!
They're perfect for Bonsai; tiny leaves, woody looking branches in no time, and they grow like mad. Now, are they really Bonsai...?
Monring Trevor. Leave that debate for 2025 :)
@XaviersBonsaiRetreat 😂
Great video Xavier
But are they bonsai 🤔😂😂😂
Not going there again :)
Can you repot these portulacarias in winter while keeping them indoors? And what do you have to watch out for? thanks!
My understanding is that you can repot any time of the year, but don't prune and repot at the same time...

My Jade houseplant is nolonger safe from bonsai scissors 😆
But your lipstick is :)
@XaviersBonsaiRetreat Ah yes, the lipstick 🤣
…but is it a real bonsai… 😂
Don't make me develop that nasty tic again :)
I admit it: I hate every so called indoor bonsai.
That's what makes the world so much fun :)
