Just my thoughts like the squiggly branch 😆 for no other reason. Love the tree shape and watching its evolution. Looking forward to see what happens in your future videos.
I think that is the reason i didnt remove it - yet. I'm waiting to see if it gives me a few more buds lower on that branch to help give it more purpose and definition.
Hey Xav, I was one of us who loved the natural upturned branches on the big ficus. In fact I'm going the same route with one of my microcarpas here in Thailand. Thanks for the update~
Hi Xavier, big thumbs up 👍 In general I prefer outdoor trees, but a Ficus is a special loved one. So forgiving 😄🙏 I made some pretty bad pruning decisions in the past, but the tree is though looking gorgeous meanwhile. And in case of cuttings- nothing more satisfying than ficus-cuttings 😄🤩 Your trees are looking gorgeous. Contrary to my common practice, I tend to prune back those trees quite hard. Enjoyed as always 🥰 Cheers 🙋♀️ Martina
Hi Xav that first Ficus has come on well, the decision you made has paid off and a free cutting can’t ask for more, it is looking a bit two dimensional so you will probably need to wire the back branches at some point. I wish I had the space to keep Ficus, my new home is too small to keep indoors , do remove that weak branch it is doing nothing, it’s difficult to style a tree without wire I will be surprised if you don’t wire at some point. I bought on line a couple of Hungarian lilac trees very cheaply, they arrived in large pots too tall so cut them down and pruned heavily, stuck all of them in another pot, a bit of rooting powder and blow me I now have 12 of them, The power of cuttings should not be underestimated my friend. All the best.
Great results on the cuttings. I have a feeling that this 'non-wiring' is going to end soon enough for those branches. In fact, don't be surprised if the next time you see it...it has wire on it :)
Wiring is just another tools in the arsenal and should be used as such. Definitely keep the twisty branch. I just did a big cut on the cutting you kindly sent me to turn a catapult Y shaped plant into a potential single trunk future tree. I’m also thinking some wire might help to give it a bit of shape. 😁 I hear the S shape is popular…
Very lovely material. Your largest ficus is really gorgeous. I have the same problem with indoor plants. Just not set up for them to thrive - becomes survival of the fittest lol!
I agree. Just finished editing the collaboration we did so long ago! Unfortunately my main computer refuses to power up now so i may struggle to do anythign on the channel until it is sorted :(
My personal thought is that I dont like S shaped trunks, especially on ficus....🤷♂️ clip and grow is definitely better than wire...go ahead and ban me....😂😂
Sometimes it is case of dealing with the tree that you purchase. I got this pretty cheap back in 2017 and have been slowly altering its design. Can i give you a yellow card instead :)
This made me look at my ficus and realise how much it needs a trim.
I tend to forget mine with everything else in the garden :)
Prunning bonsai ficus thank you for sharing, nice bonsai good luck Mr
Thank you for watching and supporting me :)
The bonsai air police were checking up on you.
Definitely a noisy one today :)

It does create new challenges but less hassle worrying about wire.

It was like, that for my kids as well :)
@@XaviersBonsaiRetreat Yikes 😆😂
For me, that squiggly branch is distracting. I’d remove it. Nice tree apart from that branch 😊
Definitely - it will come off. Just waiting to see how many people agree with me :)
No wire, no result... that´s why Nigel needs to cut back hard so often...😊
