Wow. A video that gives an actual dollar amount for aftermarket parts. I can’t think of any other overlander content creator that’s ever done that. Kudos.
I’m impressed. You’re the first to sit there and actually break down each item pricewise. Refreshing. Dust your shop do straight axle conversions on FJ cruisers? Also, do you do V8 conversions would love some info on those items. Just discovered your videos and they’re the best. Thank you.
Hey, thank you! We do SAS work on all Toyotas and would love to help you out. Come by sometime! We have done several V8 conversions and there are a LOT of factors to consider there. Get ahold of us and we'll lay it all out for you!
Crazy.. what labor is. The ability to do it yourself and weld is priceless. I built a frame off rotisserie restored f100 with a coyote swap and all new everything for the price of the first two things 😂 My tacoma has about 10k in shit in on it and it’s all king w/dirt king long travel on 35s and a kc pro6 lightbar. That’s it. It would probably cost twice that if you have it all installed by a shop.
Just wait until you find out about grocery stores vs the price of fine dining 😆 jkjk, but $150/hr is the average shop rate in Colorado and it should be more for specialty…
@@dwighthouserdude it’s 200 bucks here in SoCal. When I built my truck, it was frame up. So everything that goes back in was new. I did all the fabrication work and everything else, but I had zero clue how to wire a car from nothing or plumb custom brake lines. I called some shops and they quoted me some insane numbers. Long story short, I learned how to do it myself 😂 I got more time than money lol
Dude, it's great build. The only thing I'm iffy with is the rear end. I would have done a 60 or a 9 inch, both give you the ability to match the front width or keep it close to the front width and keep the tires off the shock bodies when flexing without spacers. For this level of a build, it needs that rear end.
May be a dumb question, but when doing all of these mods, do you have to turn off all the new Toyota Safety Sense features, or do they still work? Awesome truck build, well worth the $ spent.
@@mtnyotasok what’s the first? Fuel tank? Unless you mean hitch skid cuz yea those are useless Diff skid from what I hear is just to make sure the drain fluid bolt still works. Which I can see the logic but yea you’d have to hit a lot to shave enough steel off to have a problem
It’s always over payload when doing this extent of a build. You can’t do a rtt and full armor and meet payload. If you lose the tent the truck will be much more durable unless you like breaking and fixing things. It’s enough weight it probably should have a Dana 60 rear from Ecgs Unless you believe mods can improve payload. But I disagree with that logic you’re just gonna find the next weak point
The tune that comes with a Procharger... they're all based on VF Tuner (OTT, OV, KD Max, etc...) but you'll either need a custom tune or THE tune from Procharger/Magnuson if you're doing forced induction.
@@mtnyotasThanks for replying. Why did you go with the Procharger versus the Magnuson. Whats your take on the argument SCs aren't worth it on tacos? (I've been thinking about one... even test drove Magnuson SC (regeared) but didn't a major major difference. To be fair, the taco was juiced out with a ton of overlanding weight.) Thanks!
That expense is over the top - if I was going to take my 2022 4Runner to that level I’d just go 74Weld portals front and rear and new steering rack and call it a day. Maybe $30K in for that out the door installed. Hope that kids doesn’t roll his new $100K rig

113 hours of labor at the average rate in CO, $60k in parts (we don't determine that price), and tax on top of parts... thank you for commenting, but you are just wrong.
Imagine how much he would have save if he just bought Portals. What a waste. 20k 37s with regear or all the fab work they did with a rear diff still dragging.
Once I noticed it too I couldn't continue watching it. Since was watching it on my galaxy s23 and zoomed it in to only see his shirt it helped me watch the whole video lol.
I didn't stop watching but I'm right with ya... about to buy a truck and trying to get some ideas to do an overlander build but my pockets ain't that deep lol
Wow. A video that gives an actual dollar amount for aftermarket parts. I can’t think of any other overlander content creator that’s ever done that. Kudos.
Thanks so much!
Powerbrake has the best customer service ive ever experienced. I have the big brake kit and dude was super helpful.
No doubt about it!!!
David will need to show this video to anyone interested in it if he ever sells it 🎉. Definitely a home run build.
Thank you!
I’m more impressed on that 371 miles till empty range 😂 that’s a dream truck build!
Thank you!
Sick build. BAMF > C4
this is the kind of video every overlander should be watching
Appreciate it!

Needs a rack….
Love you.

That's awesome man! 99% of people are either too busy to do that or simply do not want to do it themselves.
Amazing build!
Glad you like it!
This is one of the best builds
Thanks!
This truck is insane!!!! The one up on the lift is a looker too 😉
Yessir!!!

Congratulations to David- pretty much my dream build- I’ll make my 2017 work for now haha

Agreed...
I actually saw this on the road recently.
LUCKY! :-)
Really nice! Now I have to go down a portal wormhole.
It's the best wormhole...

Yes. I still know him now! Screenshot and sent to him LOL. @@dwighthouser
😂 ☠️
What no Portal axles or Currie Dana 44 extended rear axle?
21:18 ok you and I think alike since you would do portals
:-)
I hope they threw in some free stickers after they were done. Shops like this is what makes me diy spent more on labor then actual parts
Nothing wrong with Power Stop breaks, I would prefer a Tundra brake retrofit
Epic!⚡🏔️
I wouldn't go above a 33 if you don't want to regear, but we think a regear (4.56s or 4.88s) is beneficial even on 33s.
I'm 80k on a set of falcons right now
Wild eh! You got any life left in them?
All that work and no diff armor on the rear axle.
The 2nd most unnecessary piece of “armor”…

I bought a $400 dyson vacuum cleaner and added $20 grand in mods and it still doesn't suck as hard at that Toyota
LMAO
What does a truck weigh after all the modifications?
A bit more than stock lol... no idea honestly.

Beautiful truck
It sure is! Thanks!
Pricy but well worth it! 🤙
Amazing build! ❤
Glad you like it!
Would it be weird to go portals and stay 35s?
Nope, you'd be able to get a lot of down-travel out of your suspension... nothing wrong with that at all.
the labor costs were almost as much as the parts. holy transistors batman.
What tune did you install?

I personally would of just done a solid front axle for that price point .
Nobody cares about what you think
It'd be more than this if you added a SAS to this... highway driving would be quite a bit different too.

Need a supercharger for all the added weight!
It is supercharged... we put a Procharger on it.
You forgot the PORTALS, From 74WELD.
Portals are next on the list :-)
Damn.. I didn't realize yall included labor to the cost of the build. In that case I have $90k taco 😂
Have you heard about something called Jeep Wrangler/ rubicon ?with 37’s inch tires!
If you’re not running 40s on your Jeep then it’s small.
If I spend this much, I’m taking my Dad’s 2017 DCSB SR 4-cyl 4x2 and:
Diesel conversion from DieselToyz
SAS w/ Portals
Marlin 3-spd crawler box
Currie rear end w/ Portals
ARB air lockers f/r
RSG sliders
Backwoods Adventure Mods f/r bumpers

@@mtnyotas well the SAS & Marlin 3-spd crawler box kinda implied the 4WD conversion

Nice rig. Affordable build 👌🏻
Thanks!
Bet I can still wheel and rock crawl harder with the 6 grand worth in mine 😂😅
Shitboxes are the most fun to wheel hard, sooooo.... lol
Hoooly moly
I feel like for 84k it should at least have a v8 under the hood lol
I wouldn't be opposed to an LS swap... we just did a 1UZ swap on a 4Runner.
