Finally someone who overlanded a long bed Tacoma. It's always the short beds. After seeing this it makes me feel a lot better with my long bed Tacoma. Only thing I got on it is a bed rack and a cvt tent lol.
How does the reduced payload affect overlanding? is it a material issue when you're all loaded up with your tent, jerry cans, winch, and supplies and 2-4 people? I am deciding between the SB and the LB, but don't want to stunt the already weak payload.

I think Toyotas are the best looking cars for overlanding. I’ve seen a couple Tacomas modified for snow and it’s caught my attention. Hell I think it looks even better with a machine gun mounted and a couple of men wielding rifles
I got a 1st gen tundra dc and Im right about 6600lbs which is the gvwr for the truck. I pack pretty minimal but do have sliders and bumpers with swing out. It handles great but I have upgraded the suspension and brakes. It is the best truck platform for traveling IMO. It also has the super reliable 4.7 which is known for being a 1mil mile motor. Just got done doing a 2600 mile trip through 4 states dirt roads for miles and some rock crawling including going through hells revenge in moab. It has performed flawlessly and would never get rid of this thing, going on 9yr of ownership.
Overland 6ft bed looks way better than the short bed overland. The proportion of the body is balanced and make it look more like a full size truck. These rock sliders reaching out and covering the extra foot is sexy.

Is there any heavy duty bumpers that dont involve cutting. I had a 1989 SR5 and i didnt have to cut anything to installl bumpers i also had the trailmaster lift kit installed at Dick Cepek off road center i dont think they exist anymore just tires. I might be wrong.

For the light bar mounted up top in the Prinsu rack, how did you run the wire? Did you run it down the windshield rubber trim? That's the only way I've seen it done on UA-cam and it looks kinda "meh".
Not sure how you have seen it on UA-cam, but running it down the windshield is the best way in our opinion. It sits flush and you can’t see it. You could also get this tacomabeast.com/collections/led-light-bars/products/universal-wire-hider

I was wondering on the leaf springs, could you just have used air bags? Also all the connection points, do you need to put some anti seize on the bolts? I love the bumpers. Also you mentioned a supercharger with the larger tires, do you need to change the gear ratio? Will the transmission hold up to a mild supercharger? Thanks?

If you were to design or build a Tacoma with deep snow on logging roads what would you target? I would love to know as I am new to this. And really want to get into it.
Nice to see someone built a LongBoi now and again. I’ve got a 23 DCLB myself that’s getting a Retrax MX Pro, UpTop Mid Height in a LB config (they don’t list that, call and inquire) and UpTop Alpha cab rack. I assume that rear bumper you lose park distance? Do you lose the blind spot monitoring and such too? I suspect they use RADAR and the module can’t see thru the metal bumpers?
with all this added weight can the stock engine handle well? what about the gears for the large tires? i wouldve liked a lower bed rack and or GFC tent

I do wish CBI would develop a rear bumper that is BSM compatible. I like the rest of their gear, but Apogee is still the ONLY company I can find that has a BSM compatible bumper.

Beautiful truck, but I can't help but wonder how all the additional weight affects performance. Tacoma's aren't exactly powerhouses from the factory. Seems a bit odd not to tackle anything performance related. Just my 2 cents. Cheers.

Great info on loading the roof of the truck over at Ronny Dahl's channel. 99% of people definitely overload their roofs.
Hidden hitch for what? With all that weight added, there’s no towing capacity left. I’m guessing 2 adults and some gear and your already over GVWR.
Also flip up plates aren’t legal.

The rear bumper can retain some sensors but not the 360 sensors, and you lose about a foot of parking distance with the spare attached

It drops it a significant amount to be honest, our taco went from 19-20 to 10-11
