A Wisconsin man stands trial for allegedly murdering and dismembering his parents without remorse, and providing false information on their disappearances. Chandler Michael Halderson, 23, faces charges including first-degree intentional homicide. Remains from his father Bart Halderson, 50, and mother Krista Halderson, 53, were found days apart, authorities said.
Defendant Halderson reported his parents missing July 7th, claiming they left their home in the Village of Windsor days before on the 1st. He told WISC-TV at the time that they were going to the village of White Lake, Wisconsin.
“My last message I got from them, they were going to White Lake for the Fourth of July,” he told “There are some festivities that go around there. Better drink prices at the bars. Stuff like that.”
He said that to his knowledge, they were then going to their cabin in Langlade County.
“Along the way, they could’ve stopped many places,” he said. “I wouldn’t know all of them.”
He was allegedly just feeding everyone lies.
Bart’s torso was found in rural Dane County, while remains from Krista were found in Sauk County and property run by the Department of Natural Resources, according to court documents obtained by The Wisconsin State Journal.
Their son had been searching Google for terms like “Body found Wisconsin,” “Woman’s body found in Wisconsin,” “Wisconsin dismembered body found,” and “Dead body found in Wisconsin,” authorities said. Investigators suggested Chandler Halderson used to a visit to property belonging to the partner of his girlfriend’s mother as cover to hide his father’s torso nearby. He had shot Bart Halderson at least once before dismembering him, officials said.
According to investigators, Halderson said after his arrest that “you don’t know the whole story,” and that he “didn’t feel bad about what I did.”

There’s absolutely no indication that his parents were to blame for their own deaths. No one had a bad word to say about them, except for Chandler hinting at his father being prone to anger when he was lying during his interrogation. The Haldersons raised their other non-murderous son, too.

This prosecutor gave both a profound opening and closing rebuttal. Unlike the defense, he didn't need to constantly refer to his notes. He described the events in an "easy to follow" manner and I could listen to him all day. The defense's opening was terrible because she did not provide any substantial theory to create a sense of "doubt" for the jury to ponder. Her comments about the prosecutor "telling a story" and what she learned in law school were insults to the legal profession as a whole.

Thank you to W. Brown for opening and closing this trial with the eloquence and sensitivity equal to the depth of tragedy. And finally, for this skillful analysis most of all - cutting through all of Chandler Halderson's convoluted misdirection and seemingly endless twisted breadcrumb trails of lies, to draw us instead the clearest road map to the truth: the one that ends in a verdict of "Guilty".
The prosecutor somehow managed to finally say everything that captures the sense of depravity, our shared and bottomless disgust with the defendant, and the juxtaposition of a desperate man with nothing but a pathetic fiction instead of a real life that seemingly felt nothing of butchering the two people whose only fault was unconditionally loving a monster.

I liked them until the end. They really slandered the PD office in an unfair way. We have a system that values the presumption of innocence. They have to respect the defendants wishes. They did the best you could expect for this case unless there is magical evidence out there that they just didn't bring forth in any form. You cannot have true justice without a public defense. I think that the PD did the best they could without horribly falsifying things.

Not the best of defenses to be sure, but they just had nothing with this swine, absolutely nothing. If I had been his attorney, I'd have tried to get him a deal of some kind, not dragged everyone through a brutal trial based on a nothing defense. The great teamwork by law enforcement…never seen such a competent group of witnesses all in one trial. He didn't have to do that, accuse the defense lawyer... with appelate courts being so sensitive lately about smallest things, he certainly didn't need to, overwhelming evidence, excellent procecution team.

Yeah, he shouldn’t have, but I highly doubt it will cause problems on appeal. In other cases, maybe yes, but not this one.

Well I guess he just had to call the defense out, telling the jury to lie to the people that he did not kill his parents. Wait didn't she accuse the jury of lying too in her defense closing?

@@LillysConner Yes, she basically stated it is “unrealistic” that they didn’t search information or be exposed to all the media. That they lied every day to the judge when he asked them if they had. I think it was good that the prosecutor called her out on that!

    • @BHeart-lw1di

But she did lie! Her opening statement she said that Chandler did not kill his parents, and then in the closing the other defense attorney basically said that he did but it was an accident. Just like the closing defense attorney said you can't have it both ways. Bart and Krista are dead, they died in their home, no one else was in the home, impossible to shoot yourself in the back at point blank range, so not a accident. Chandler lied and covered it up as well.

    • @jennifermariejoyce
      @jennifermariejoyce 2 роки тому +3

@@BHeart-lw1di She did lie, but closing arguments are opinion-based, so they can say whatever they want about the case. What they can’t do is accuse or strongly imply that the other side is actively attempting to not uphold the letter of the law. They both messed up there, but I think his error was righteous. Doesn’t matter what I think :)
