Case has been my favorite for more than 50 years. I have 5 Slimline Trappers. One with yellow darling was bought in 1965 and still going. Easy to carry in the pocket. Mine gets mostly used for food prep. When they come new most have a wire edge or called a burr. Just strop it and it will cut very well. Love the hollow grind !
Thank you Lyle, I enjoy hearing about my viewers carries. Thanks for sharing.
I enjoy the slimline trapper pattern. I only have one, in brown synthetic, but it’s a really nice knife. But I’m a trapper guy! I do want to add some more to my collection. Thanks for sharing that one, the red bone is awesome!
Yes, I like this particular trapper design. The handles are terrific looking. I'll have to look for your brown one. Thanks, RJ.
Just ordered one. Got it for $50.99. Slimline is my favorite pattern Case. I have quite a few of them. Love yellow handle with CV blade the best!
The CV steel is nice, wish they offered more of it than they do. Thanks Jremeee.
@@ThriftyKaniffy agreed!
I just bought a new slimline trapper, and looking forward to unboxing it. CASE should come out with a liner lock version. They could call it the EDC slimline.
A lock would make sense, but often liner locks interfere with grip comfort so it'd need to be done right.
I am a single blade trapper person myself. I think you got a great knife for that price.
Thanks Matt, nice of you to say. I thought the price was reasonable.
Woohoo! 1,500 subs! That’s a good-looking Case there. I do have some ugly red dye jobs on older Rough Riders. They do a good job these days, though.
Very vibrant. I dig it. Love the lines of this knife as well. Thanks Su.
Just ordered mine in Cayenne Bone with the -XX- bolsters. Looking forward to it arriving later this week. Today I get the Old Red Bone Barnboard Jig Sowbelly Bose limited edition in the mail that I ordered previously. Two colorful additions for the collection. Thanks for the video TK!
Two awesome knives, Plankton. I hope you receive good examples. Thanks for sharing.
they did a really good job on the jigging and the color of the handles, a knife to consider as part of a collection, thanks for showing it!
That's kinda the idea for this one. Thanks Jose.
I’ve only got one slimline trapper and I love that knife. Fantastic for cleaning game birds. Mine is yellow delrin with a CV blade. This red bone version looks great! Cheers, my friend!
Well that's another feather in the knife's cap. Thanks for the user feedback . Loving the red bone handles. Thanks David.
Most of the Case knives I own are just for collecting, however I do have a few I use. Generally they make really beautiful knives that are quite sharp. Wonderful knives made here in the USA (which is tthe best part).
I always try to buy from sellers who have an exceptional return policy in case I get a bum one.
Nice knife . I carried one years ago and it never failed me . I do think that case's
overall quality and workmanship has declined in recent years . Case could take
A lesson or two from Rough Ryder , R.R. could produce a equivalent knife
materials / workmanship / quality for half the price . I'm more then happy to
pay for that " Made in U.S.A." stamp but it must reflect quality and craftsmanship.
Great review . Peace , Be Free .
Couldn't agree more. Though some recent RR series , seem to be struggling with QC. I've seen many of the new tortoiseshell knives that are not up to standard.
A yellow Case Slimline Trapper was handed down to me and it is still going strong! It is product #31048 and is "pre-1964" but could be much older. Wonderful, wonderful knives. Case rocks!
Fantastic, Ray. I love hearing about the older ones people have.Welcome to the channel.
@@ThriftyKaniffyI just subscribed. Now I have to find the time to go look at older videos!
My favorite pattern to carry.. It fits so well next to my wallet front pocket carry.. Love my slimline trappers.
A really cool piece. There's great lines on this knife. Thanks JH.
The Case Slimline Trapper Has Always Been One Of My Favorite Patterns!!
Excellent, I love hearing that. I wasn't sure how well tis would be received. Thanks, Mike.
Nice one to use at the steak house. The transition from bright red to strawberry towards the edges sets this one apart. I have a similar colored Sodbuster jr but its solid all the way through which looks great as well.
It's a vibrant color. Mesmerizing. Thanks for having a look, Mike.
Beautiful knife! Love the red jigging!
The handles are very well done. They moved me to buy this one. Thanks Cat.
That was a great review! Thanks for introducing this pattern to me. Have a delightful day, my friend.
You are very welcome, KD. I know you like Case, so was hoping I'd see you comment. I wasn't disappointed. Thanks buddy.
I also really like your intro and I love Case’ Red Bone of which I have a few Also have several Slimline Trappers and have given them as gifts I suggest them as an alternative for those who like Large Toothpicks and can’t get Case to make them bc they are very similar to carry TK you find very nice knives to show and make a fine presentation Too bad geezers like me give you such a hard time Be well my friend
I'm a big boy, I don't get too upset about opinions. The Case red bone was what tipped the scales for me to buy this one. Haven't regretted it. I've soured on toothpicks. Haven't bought one in quite a long time. Thanks Terrill.

Bought the CV Medium Stockman with Punch at SHC and love it It’s a beautiful carry in a small size open top belt sheath like Case sells for Mini Trapper and Medium Stockman but I have a custom which really shows that size knife off
As for you being a big boy So am I At 70 I have learned to apologize for being insulting to people like you who are gracious enough to spend money on items and then take the time to share them with people like me Thanks you for all you do
Thanks
Thanks TK fot the review of the Case Slimline trapper (Texas Toothpick-ish). Took some vacation time with the grandkids and trying to play YT catchup.
Awesome, grandkids are way more important than YT. Hope you had a good vacation.
You have one of the better intro's, I dislike most intro's but I kinda like yours
Thanks Street. I appreciate that. I hope you like the rest of the video too.
I have this in yellow delrin in CV, this knife makes a great steak knife when going out, or staying home for dinner
Just happy to hear you can afford steak these days. Cheers, Doug.
Terrific Tk , grats brother ! and the red bone looks sweet !
Thanks so much, Dwayne, for the support. It means a lot to me.👍
I would like to see Case make one of these made in a deep burgundy color.
The red on this one is real vivid. A bugundy would be nice. Thanks Eliel.
Somebody like full size trappers case says by far in 135 years it is the knife they have sold the most of
Yes this is true. I'm more than the exception than the rule in that regard. Thanks, Edward.
Good looking knife, I really like Case 👍
Thanks Prop, I like them too when I can hand pick them.
My dad has carried the trapperlock for years, the thumbstud and shield have fallen out now and the action has almost come apart but for some reason he keeps carrying it lol. I hope to pickup one of the Zippo Trapperlocks made by Case for him this Christmas.
That would be a good gift, Matthew. Some people like well worn items like a comfortable pair of shoes.
Slimline trapper got 1 in the dirty south yellow handle- 1/2 stop would b a plus - carry RR boker jack wolf and serge much more---- watchman makes some stellar blades too
Appreciate the info on your carries. It's always good to know what people are using. Thanks Chad.
First case I bought in 1968..yellow delrin
That's old one. Nice. Thanks for watching.
I like the red bone. I have an Ebony one, seems to be a model a good choice for a Gentlemen's style knife. Great to see you hit 1,500
Thank you kindly, Gizmo. Yes, this as a gentleman's carry makes a lot of sense.
There is no debate cv is 1095 modified and carbon is 1095 for what ever reason carbon sharpens slightly better than cv and takes a finer edge Whitch equal edge retention.
Thanks for tour thoughts, Edward.
Welcome
Thrifty I have the orange one!!!! In the plastic covers I don’t remember why I went with orange at the time it was so long ago!!!!! I think I was on a orange kick at that time!!!!! 😮
The bone here sold me on this one. Pretty terrific. Thanks Jersey.
@@ThriftyKaniffy yeah they are the best cutters go ahead and try and trim the skin off a apple you’ll get a wet spot in your undies just try it you’ll love it!!!!!
Case has great reputation enjoyed the review 👍
Thanks for taking a look. Great, vivid color on this trapper.
It's a beautiful knife TK! Case is still my favorite knives I don't care what the price a lot of nostalgia. And compared to knives these days they're not that expensive! I just bought the case copper lock in 1095cs. The blade is called A Worn Cliff , I think . It has got a little thin handle but it is a premium little knife I love it. And I love the one you just showed! And what you're saying is right under $50 they start having little picky things wrong with them! They don't come as sharp as they could! This one barely cut paper. But I love to sharpen! Thank you for the video TK! You may have already done the video I'm about to ask you but have you done a video on the Ontario Knife companies Old Hickory pocket knife yet? Just throwing that in there
I don't own any of Ontario's fixed blades, KJ. I like the Case copperlock pattern, it's one I have an example of. The slimline has beautiful lines I think and isn't out if reach at a $50-55 pricetag. Thanks buddy.
@@ThriftyKaniffy no they've come out with and Ontario Old Hickory pocket knife folder now I've seen it on a couple of videos. It's not very expensive. And on the other point the case copper locks are beautiful. This Ontario Old Hickory folding pocket knife looks plain but pretty cool. I don't know as I want to buy one though I might.. it looks like it's got a solid Walnut handle and a decent blade
@@kjgas6945 I'll have to hunt for it. I looked before but, didn't find it.
@@ThriftyKaniffy Smoky Mountain Knife Works sells it it is the Ontario Old Hickory slip joint pocket knife $39 I think. It looks like a fixed blade in the picture but it says in the heading slip joint you can kind of tell it is don't have to look just letting you know
Beautiful
Thank you! and cheers mojoxide
Congrats on 1500 subs
Thank you, Richard. Hope you liked the review.
Fun Fact : At one time (long ago) the Case Slimline Trapper and the Old Timer Gunstock Trapper were (outside the East Coast) the most popular knives among knife fighters and aspiring knife fighters (if they lived long enough).
Every cop shop had a draw full of them. The Cops always kept the nicest ones.
The original tactical knife.
I guess some old trends are better left not revisited. Thanks for the anecdote, Michael.
Much like ex-wives .😉
How did they keep the knife from closing on their fingers when stabbing? A fixed blade like a bird and trout knife would be much more suitable for knife fighting.
Case back springs were much
stronger at the time , as Case knives were considered " working "
knives a stronger back spring ( on
a scale of 1 to10 , I've seen period
knives that were easily a 9 ) was
expected by the buying public , as
lockbacks were not all that common at the time ( until the Buck 110 ) traditional slip joints were what many chose .
Stitches were also much cheaper
at the time .😁
The blade is fine it’s the frame that is not 100 percent take you hand bend the frame just a little you will see the blade is strait down the middle but the blade never moves
Thanks, I'll have a look , Edward.
Ok
Congratulations on 1.5k. Case does a great job on their covers.
Thank you, William. Their handles are really great. Just wish I could afford more of them. As it is I can only dabble here and there.
congratulations big lad,well done.deserved for sure.atb paddy 👏
Thanks 👍Much appreciated Paddy.
I'd definitely be interested in getting a couple if they came in flat ground carbon steel.
I just think the shape of the pattern is lovely and what vibrant handles. Thanks, Wizard.
I only own three Case knives, hammerhead and mako, good finishes, but the CV sodbuster I picked up had some serious gaps in the liners and covers. Sharpened nicely, but the pull, w&t etc. seemed very weak. 🤔
I've become an in hand type buyer of Case. I just gotta know what I'm getting.
Case's CV Steel was some kind of 1095 with added Chrome and Vanadium. They switched to normal 1095 some time this year due to supply issues with CV.
Ok. This being from 2018 it might be a little different then. Thanks Kommissar.
@@ThriftyKaniffy Damn Overheard that statement. Got something valuable then since there's no ETA if we ever get CV again
The jigging or cuts into bone expose more pores so the jigging should be a darker color than the untouched or smooth cut bone.🤔
Makes sense. Never really thought about it like that.
With the release of Case's modern flippers and think we'll see a change in their production, costs, etc. Maybe for best, where instead of a "collector's market" Case will actually focus on actual knife markets.
That'd be a nice change for the better, I feel they same way about the collector approach. Nice comment Alpine.
You got another good one lol. It’s kind of sad to say that. I wish Case produced more knives in carbon steel
Yep, you've got to check the quality before laying out the cash. Most seem to prefer the CV over the SS , so you're not alone.
Outside of USA. But I have the Otter knife. That looks very much the same. Don’t know who copied who. Otter is a German company founded in 1840.
The Case would have been introduced later than that. Not uncommon for knives to "borrow" from others Mfgs. designs. Thanks Gerard.
Blade centering on slimline trappers, no matter who makes em, is notoriously off.
I can understand that. Sort of a pattern that lends itself to that I guess. Shame. Thanks, Zen.
Very attractive knife
The red handles really pop. Thanks for having a look, Rusty.
