I've been carrying a Case American Workman jumbo stockman every day for over a decade now. In my opinion it is Case's most useful and carriable pattern.
Absolutely loved the sheath idea. I spent an hour making one with the same idea from my old pair of boots because of you! Saving the other side for a different knife now! My EDC is normally my Russlock and I also carry my 79 Pen CV and it can fit either one!
I'm glad to see you have appreciation for picking a good, dressy, respectful knife for going to church. Most people don't think about dressing up for church now a days.
Great video. Gorgeous knives, refreshing to see old school knives being carried. I have a few Cases. I EDC a GEC #54 jack and a Boker camp knife. I'm an amateur Leatherworker, sheath looks great.
Thanks buddy! I don’t own any GEC’s I know they’re amazing I just haven’t been able to drop that kind of money on one yet! But thanks for the kind words!
The “texas stockman” patter 32 is my absolute favorite but the 75 pattern is a close second. Great collection of users and good job on your modifications!
I'm a little bit of a Case collector and I purchased a small canoe/ baby Butterbean in the white cover like you have because I have never seen one before and it was a substitute for a smooth bone in my collection until I found one, it's difficult to find white bone patterns in a Case, enjoyed your vid
There are plenty of things in my life that I love being modern, but a good wool blanket, good leather boots and a good slip joint knife are worth their weight in gold in my eyes. I won’t pay that, but I’ll love whatever it is to death.
I knew I liked you kid I had told you I am a retired preacher but I also am a retired tool and die maker I spent 33 years of my life in machine shops so when I heard you say you work in a shop I knew we were brothers in one more way lol BtW that is one fine spread of working man’s knives that anyone would be proud to own and use Thank you for sharing them
Yes sir! My grandfather that recently passed is what got me into machinist work- along with him being a preacher he was also an awesome manual machinist, my dad followed in his footsteps but quickly found himself in a good inspection position, and I followed suit and I’ve been a manual (mostly, I have done some cnc) machinist for about 20 years now 🤝
@@doomcrewoutdoors1613 I did a little CNC over the years but hated it I have done it all as a toolmaker fit and finish Class A plastic molds all types of molds most types of dies But I really just loved to run a Bridgeport Mill and sharpen tools Funny I was the guy who got to sharpen other guys pocket knives
@@terrillschneider3778 I prefer manuals too, at my last job of 10 years I worked for LUFKIN gear repair before they sold out to GE and later shut my shop down but I got a ton of good experience there, performed all kinds of machining operations and ran nearly every machine in that shop, milled and re-bored tiny and HUGE gearboxes, drilled and tapped 100’s of thousands of holes, cut some HUGE keyways, rand large cylindrical grinders….. all kinds of stuff! Now I’m at a much easier job physically, I still run a manual mill and sometimes a lathe and drill press but my job is much more consistent and physically easier these days which I don’t mind at all especially since I’m actually making more money as well…. But I’ve become known as the drill bit sharpening extraordinaire everyone in this shop brings me their drill bits to sharpen, lol and knives too 👍🏼
I have a ton of Benchmade and other high-end modern folders I have a ton of case knives and gec knives and for some reason my favorite knife of all time is the peanut or the small Stockman. I get all fizzy when I use those.
Watched this again. Great choices, I agree and often carry the same patterns. I often carry the Case folding hunter also in my jeans pocket. I like big folding knives provided I'm wearing jeans, which I usually do. The large sodbuster is a good carry also. Good mods. Did you use a file or a grinder for the initial cut of the swedge? Zippos are cool. I suppose you know Case owns Zippo.
Yeah, zippo actually owns Case I believe. But yeah I used a bench grinder with a fine wheel for the swedges. I had a guy tell me it’s easier yo use a file, and that may be true if you’re doing it before heat treat but afterwards I wouldn’t think a file would be able to cut much or at least I don’t think it should once the blade is hardened. I prefer larger knives as well, I have a folding Hunter and also a large Saddlehorn, it’s a big ol knife too
Just grabbed another yellow stockman for work and a micarta Cheetah for a gentleman's knife/dress pants knife (just so slim, no wider than a cigarette)
What do you use to sharpen stainless steel I’m having trouble putting a sharp edge on my mini trappers I have about 6 stainless steel , my CV steel and much easier
I just use regular stones and sharpen by hand, I don’t have any kind of sharpening systems, the SS always come in quicker for me as they’re softer and you can remove the material easier, but yeah I use the same stones for all my knives
@@doomcrewoutdoors1613 Thanks for the response if you ever make a video on how you put a razor edge on your stainless steel let me know I would love to see that
Years ago I picked up a Case ( stamped on the main blade) the smaller blade is not stamped. What's odd about the knife,is it doesn't have the Case badge on the side. Closed the knife is about 3 3/4 in. long. Both blades are hinged on 1 end, dark brown handles.. What can you tell me.
i’m almost 100% sure that that leather slip you showed made out of old boots was made from the exact same pair of justin boots in the exact same color stitching and leather and my old pair i can’t wear anymore lol
I collect ruger guns case xx knives and zippo lighters and have for years and silver now also My favorite is a yellow handled canoes and there nice leather handled fixed blade skinning knives those I usly daily and have my whole life
Best thing to do when putting a swedge on a blade is to clamp the blade down and use a file, then take the file marks out with sandpaper. Less chance of going too far with a file than it is with a power tool like a Dremel or belt sander.
I prefer the Sodbuster in the traditional black delren handle and bird eye brass pivot. I have one of the bone cover Sodbuster but I just don’t care for it. I got WD 40 on some of my Uncle Henry knives and it ate the covers up.
@@Beowulf_98 I tell you what buddy, why don’t you go find you another channel to split hairs with. I know that they made a bigger stockman back in the 90’s but I’ve seen the 75 called a jumbo many places. I agree!
I would tend to agree too. Big enough to get it done and small enough to have along.
Very nice Case collection, good choice.
My favorites for every day are the Trapper and the Copperlock with the Wharncliffe blade.
Absolutely loved the sheath idea. I spent an hour making one with the same idea from my old pair of boots because of you! Saving the other side for a different knife now! My EDC is normally my Russlock and I also carry my 79 Pen CV and it can fit either one!

I vote for you to have more Sodbusters! They are excellent daily knives..
That modification is really cool! Enjoyed seeing the knives. Case are great knives.
Ooooooo the last one was my favorite man. Canoe like that oooo. And a great story of receiving it too.

That brown large stockman is my favorite, such good looking knife. Also good job on the trapper modification 👍
Thank you sir, and thanks for watching, I’ve been watching your videos for a long time 👍🏼
My favorite too
All great choices. I wasn't a Stockman fan until I got the 75 pattern. Now I wonder how I ever got along without it.
Still catching up. Great video! My favorite out of those is the trapper you burnt. Good job.
I love the Jumbo stockman and it is probably my favorite.
I have recently bought a sowbelly stockman, and I do like it as well.
There's also 2 models with S35VN steel. A Trapper. and a medium Stockman. The Trapper is simply awesome!

Awesome video love case knives
I like how the one you torched turned out. Takes balls to try that and it worked..
Thanks buddy, yeah it was a risk. I’d probably use a smaller torch next time lol but it worked out ok 👍🏼
That canoe is super nice, my pop has one he’s carried forever and he just bought me a trapper for Christmas
Awesome, you’ll love that trapper!
I see by your name your a bass fisherman, have you checked out any of my pet bass videos?

It’s the vinegar that stains the blades dark. Myself I like penknife best for everyday carry.

My dad preaches about once a month he is retired and carries a knife while he is preaching.
Medium stockman.
Congress.
One blade is never enough.
Two blades can get you by .
Three blades is just right.
Four blades are just showing off.

That's not a jumbo that's a large.
If you watch the videos with Maury from WR Case and sons he calls it a jumbo.
I’m pretty sure large and jumbo refer to the same pattern -75
