We found a buck skeleton, and with a full set of antlers in our woods today. This really helped me to understand what i have to do to it before I cast it in resin! The original is going to a friend once I clean/cast it. The antler copies will be great for lots of art I plan on making from them.
Anather amazing animal done by a awsome teacher. Thank you once agian for sharing your knowledge and teaching all of us how white bone creations gets it done!!!!!! Never gets old.
Late to the party for this one, but again, thanks for the documentary style videos you produce. The attention to detail you have shows the care for animals within. Unfortunately being in the military has me in a state where hunting is granted based on drawings which are very hard to get into being a non-resident; otherwise I would have several skulls sent to you. As a fan, I appreciate your work greatly
It was a bummer that this video came out a few weeks after I did a uero mount on my 48.5 inch moose. Thankfully your other videos really helped me with the basics and I managed to do a pretty good job!
It came out really nice. I see your little helper was there making sure you did everything right ;) I wish we could've gotten a close up of the nasal bone removal.
Just found your channel and iv gotta say your work with these skulls is amazing, always wanted to try this myself with the roe and fallow deer i hunt but never had the confidence to do it
@@RawrxD23 welcome to the harsh reality, it’s not all fairytales, if you want to hunt certain animals you need a permit and it only last some days, most hunters honor the animals by eating all they Can of the animals and represent them in a taxidermy mount or a European mount. Man that sure turned out great!! I am jealous that you have warm days to do this in. It is cold up here in Montana and it sure makes it miserable by the end of a skull! Great content as usual and thanks for all the videos you put out! You have taught me a lot.
Awesome video!! What size/gallon galvanized tub are you using? I just got a bull moose that I’ll be doing and I couldn’t find anything to put it into until I came across this video!! Thank you!:)
⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡ACETONE⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡ How long is the acetone good for when degreasing skulls.. I currently use the aqua silk process also. Thank you for helping me out on making mu ruro mounts even better.
I do my own up here in Alaska. It’s not easy. I take a 30 gallon metal trash can and put it in a fire, full of water and dawn dish soap. I use firewood not a propane burner or anything like that. I let it boil. Meanwhile I completely wrap the antlers in tinfoil to protect them from the fire and water/steam. I then set the moose head in. It takes a few hours. Pull out and all tissues should be able to be pulled off by hand. Pressure wash. Put moose head back in the boiling water upside down. Works great. Make sure to get brain and nose cavity clean.
Thanks so much for the awesome videos and techniques! I've been using your technique to clean a few skulls here in South Africa. Can I ask your help with a issue I'm having with a Scimitar Horned Oryx. The animal was shot by a friend of mine and even after many hours of boiling I cannot get the horns to come off (they are getting a bit loose tho). I'm worried that if we try boil it any longer it might affect the bone? At this stage I've submerged the skull in water to soak for a few days hoping that it will help shorten the boiling time the next time I try? Please any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated. Keep posting great videos!
I just finished a scimitar last week. I have a video coming out Monday. The key to horn removal is the twist. They will not smack off grab the base and mid section and twist all the way around they should pop right off.
You should do a comedy bit where when you blow out that brain juice at 7:40. You fill up a glass and pretend to drink it but actually drink a milkshake or something.
Awesome Video! I have a question about Whitetail. Due to time change I won't have as much daylight in evening. Is it ok to get them to the coloring stage (after all clean) and do the whitening the next day? I know in past you stated to do right after cleaning. Thanks in advance
Do you put something on the antlers to make them look nicer? I am just cleaning a big bill moose up today and the antlers don’t seem as dark as yours. Thanks for all the info.
So since you went back to the developer, what do you prefer the Aquasilk or developer, I just ordered a 4 pack of the aquasilk from your link you had on previous videos a week ago but haven't got to try it yet.
Do you drill out the ear holes on your deer also, i have always juat popped them out, if so can you do a video on that as well thanks again for a great video
Hey there! I just want to say I'm very thankful for you and your videos! I tried one of your techniques with a fox and coyote skull and they're looking pretty nice!! Also, quick question, could you maybe sometime make a video on how to clean a cow skull? (Belted Galloway to be super specific, or just a cow without horns) because so far, I've only been letting them rot, which takes almost two years (since I usually get them around September and the weather here isn't that ideal). Anyways, thanks again and have a great day!
I'm getting ready to start on a deadhead moose I found. How long are you boiling for. Or should I say.. is there a point where you can boil it too long in the oxiclean? When in peroxide is there a set time you let it sit before checking it? And is there a max boil time in peroxide? Thank you so much for the help! Great video.. by the way.
Question... I received an Alaskan moose in recently... It had been wrapped up tightly in plastic and taped thourghly with flesh and eyes still on.. needless to say it was a stinky mess... I presoaked for over a week before simmering and washing... Oils had penetrated the upper portion of the skull... Can I soak up some rags with acetone to pull those oils out? Obviously I'd rather sumerge but not possible with a moose.. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.. thanks. Jim
Hi I have question I have watched your video about cleaning the hog and deer skulls. My question is i have skull that is already skull and horn . I want to clean it and paint it. Do you have any suggestions for that?
Do you have another video similar to this one? I'm doing a moose skull project and i was nearly 100% sure you picked up the bottles of hydroperoxide you were using to whiten the skull but i can't find it in this video nor can i find it in any other video you have. But I feel like you did explain what and how you were going to use in whitening your skull. Can you help me with this search? Thanks
Hey man love the vids! I have recently started doing my own skulls as well. But being based in South Africa we just have a ton of antelope here. I would really appreciate some african animal skulls. I recently tried removing Impala horns and just struggled even hitting it with a rubber mallet did not do anything. So any videos on african animals would be very much appreciated!
